No need to. Warner Bros full intention was to boost sales of their Bluray by doing a Joker edition. They knew people would want it, so they purposely show a lot of Joker footage on the trailer, to make people asking for the Joker. Just watch, petition or not, WB gonna release a Joker edition for profit.
I'm not Jared's biggest fan but I do feel for him, he did go in deep for the role (maybe a bit too much) and was probably led to believe he was going to be in it a lot more. He was basically used as a marketing tool. He got played. I feel I got played while I was watching the movie because the biggest draw for me was seeing Jared's interpretation of the Joker but all we got was like 10mins.

Jared looked really annoyed that his scenes were cut, he practically repeated the same words over and over again, emphasizing on almost everything he said.
_Never have I ever felt bad for Leto. He look so pissed that majority of his scenes got cut. If I played a character that mainly EVERYONE is hyped for, acted this character for 6 months, stayed in character for 24/7, and shot more scenes then expected and get less screentime than I expected when I see the movie, I will be feeling like I was scammed._ _And if I know the real reason why they were cut (I know why. Audience dislike the HarleyxJoker scenes), I would blame the audience for not knowing that Joker is a psychopath and really doesn't love (or care) Harley... _Me, myself, doesn't like HarleyxJoker but if you wanna show their relationship very well in the movie, show how their relationship actually is (Like in the comics). Joker is also why Harley is... Harley._ (He's her origin story)
You can tell Jared went so deep into this role. He was fully committed to the Joker, only to be disappointed when the studio decided to cut most of his scenes out. Don't get me wrong, I understand why they did it. Test audiences didn't respond well to the abusive side of the Joker/Harley Quinn relationship, so the director and the studio opted to make it more romantic. I don't think Jared is upset that they went this route. He's spoken highly of Margot in several interviews (have you seen the way he LOOKS at her?) and he clearly ships Joker/Harley, but he wanted more of his work to be recognized. Either way, we NEED more of Jared Leto's Joker and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn. Joker/Harley FTW!!!
Michael Tarantolo I respect canon, but SS -- like most comic book movies and TV shows -- is an adaptation. It's not 100% true to the comics because they want to try something new and different.
His joker was absolutely perfect, nothing more that we could ask. Also, the adorable psychotic relationship, that’s where I complain. I wanted to see more of that. Much more. SO CUTE
I honestly watched the movie because I saw Harley and the Joker. The people promoting the movie all used the Joker as click bait. I came because I thought I was going to see more of the Joker, only to find out he has only 5-10 minutes in the entire film. very disappointing. Jared worked VERY hard acting out his part too, as well as planning out the joker's look, as discussed in his other interview. That's just not fair to cut so many of his scenes as well as the other characters. They should really make a Joker movie. I would 100% go and watch it. (Sorry if I'm sounding outrageous, but a little note to the producers: IF YOUR GOING TO MAKE A MOVIE LIKE THIS, DON'T USE THE JOKER AS CLOCK BAIT ONLY TO MAKE US FIND OUT HE'S BARELY EVEN IN THE MOVIE. very disapointing to Joker fans such as myself.)) tbh i think the joker movie would've been better if they had cast jared again instead of changing it. his version of the joker was so good and he went to such extremes to make it so good that i think he really deserved that role. i haven't seen birds of prey yet but i know that jared wasn't cast for that either. i'm not sure how much the joker was in birds of prey but assuming the joker made it into at least one small scene or made on cameo, i just don't see why they wouldn't have used jared.

A rated-R movie featuring Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Jared Leto (the Joker) would be bad-ass. If there's anything that would help to propel DC to the epic proportions of Marvel movies, it would definitely be a film like that.
Yeah Im sad we didn't see a lot of them but it sounds like it's going somewhere bigger now which I think is what they deserve. Rumors had it where he's more abusive and Harley breaks free from Joker and I think it's way too soon for that, I want to see them cause mayhem together as main characters. I'd love to see these deleted scenes and hopefully we will but I'm glad they didn't go with that storyline.

They should have done a short film that was released before the actual film, which covered the whole backstory of Harley and The Joker, that way suicide squad would have worked better.

Dr. Zoidberg Not really in the context of how Suicide Squad set it up. Stockholm Syndrome would suggest that she spent a lot of time under his capture before she got all twisted. Rather, in the movie, it seems to suggest that she had some level of autonomy in her _decision_ to jump into the vat, which I appreciated, the same for the original cartoon, where she was already fascinated by him in the first place, and ended up falling in love with him. It wouldn't be a traditional romance, no, and there might well be abuse in it. However, it could be viewed as a romance, potentially, particularly since Waller described them as "the king and queen of Gotham City, and God help anyone who disrespected the queen."

For instance, in this cut of the film where it looks like he pushes Harley out of the helicopter to save her, originally, he pushes her out to kill her before any shit goes down. I know at least one other scene where he hit her was cut. The actual story of Harley Quinn & the Joker is that she was his psychiatrist in Arkham Asylum & her original name was Harleen Quinzel. Long story short, the joker was so manipulative that he basically broke her & turned her into a maniac, just like him. He never felt any true affection for her -- she was just a puppet for him. That's why fans were so happy when she finally got the guts to leave him & hook up with Poison Ivy

She'd reach her limit, then she'd turn on him, making him cower some. Oh, I know her story quite well, which is why I said to call it "Mad Love," the story that shows her origin. As for his feelings, Dini stated that Joker loved her as much as he was capable, which, given the Joker, isn't a whole lot, but it's something. Hell, at the end of No Man's Land, he launches her off in a rocket because he begins to realize he's starting to feel something softer for her, and he hates it. -.- As a fan... I feel the same! It felt rushed, and if it had been given more time they could have added a bit more depth and backstories to the characters. I loved it as it was though, and hopefully they'll make more in-depth spin offs in the future.
As to why his Joker was cut so much, I would blame either the studio or the fans themselves. Movie studios want money at the end of the day, whether a movie is good or bad. Not to mention, DC and Marvel have been having a "size" fight for decades. DC is trying to churn out movies at the same pace as Marvel which is giving us the half-assed rushed movies with backwards plots. MoS, BvS, and Suicide Squad all had the potential to be amazing movies if they were done the right way. The Joker has to be dark in order to be done the right way. Yes, he's all about the "laughs" but even with that, he's still a psychopath that kills people. And in order to portray Harley and Joker the right way, THE RELATIONSHIP HAS TO BE ABUSIVE. Which is where I blame the fans. I'm sorry because I know that seeing an abusive relationship is a trigger for some people, but that's the only way to tell their story. I'm not saying they have to include the more brutal aspects but fact of the matter is, their relationship is essential to Harley's character. And whether he wants to admit this or not, it's clear that on some level, The Joker does care about Harley. He might not be in love with her but he does care. Have Harley hit him back a few times, have them argue, or have them throw knives at each other. Anything. But don't downplay what their relationship is. I blame this politically correct world we live in.

if you cut scenes from the movie, dont fucking advertise them in the stupid trailers! And don't market the movie in such a way that makes everybody think that he would have a much more substantial role. That is literally one of the best ways to piss everybody off. Don't worry Jared, even if we dont get an extended cut, I think Ben Affleck will do you much more justice. What Margot said about having "too much" joker footage is beyond frustrating. If thats the case, then this was not the right movie to debut that character in. This movie could have benefited so much from a more street level story with the Joker as the big bad.
Yeah I remember seeing in the trailer the snippet of the joker with a burnt face and a grenade saying "BYE BYE" and I was waiting for that part during the movie. but it never came :(

I'd appreciate a version where they didn't pussy out on showing the bad parts of the relationship as well. Don't get me wrong--I love the partnership, but I'm not faint of heart and I like the relationship multi-faceted. You can show them fighting and being cruel with each other and still exploring their twisted version of love x.x Guess we'll never get that level of character depth when the studio just wants money from the general audience. see i would argue that the joker really doesn't love harley, i would say he uses her and she is so obsessed she doesn't care. its a really sad relationship when you look beneath the surface.

It doesn't have to be considered love, nothing by normal, socially acceptable standards certainly, I mean their definition of 'fun' would be murder so -- but I'm of the opinion that he is more attached to her than he'd ever admit. Does that even remotely count as some sort of affection? I dunno. Up to interpretation or whatever fits your view of them. The obsession might not be equal, but in some versions of them I think it definitely goes both ways. And yeah, If you look at the whole picture -- their lives are sad, period. Not just the relationship. Mentally unstable and constantly causing mayhem or being arrested. I still enjoy seeing this hot mess of a couple in action, tho.
There is no love, Harley is just a tool. It's wierd to see audiences really believing that this is literally a "relationship". I know Warner is fucking the original material, but to confuse people at this point is something scary.
Sigh. I read the comics. I know their history, I know all the arguments. I'm not fucking confused or new to the material so they aren't tricking me into seeing something. I personally don't like being given boring ass, easy, black and white excuses for character motives like 'Nope. He's incapable of this thing. Not even possible. Ever. In any incarnation because, reasons. If he does, someone wrote him wrong.' If someone wants to hit me with some reasoning behind that, like they consider Joker a psychopath and as a result, not emotionally capable of forming such attachments, then okay I see that perspective and I respect it. I personally consider him a sociopath, he used to be a somewhat normal individual like you or I and as he likes to claim, all it took was one bad day. While it would be impossible to have any sort of healthy relationship with another person, a sociopath can form attachments. No beautiful romance, hell no but uh...there is a relationship of some sort. I mean I know what you meant, but since the word covers the way any two people are connected, they do have one. I personally see it as another way to make the characters complex. Why is it easy to accept that Joker has some sick sort of infatuation with Bats that pisses all over the lines between love and hate, where he wants to shatter him to prove a point but thrives off their conflict at the same time--but he can't have something contradictory like that with Harley? To each their own, man--but that's just how I personally see the characters. We're not all gonna interpret things the same way--I mean look at New52. Some hate it, some love it--but my perspective isn't 'WB gave me Villains in love, AWWWW
They cut out all the stuff that defines the Harley-Joker relationship, which is historically extraordinarily abusive. In the comics and other media, Joker sees Harley as nothing more than a plaything that exists merely for his whims and amusement.
The movie was corney....the best part of the movie WAS THE JOKER AND HARLEY STORY..that sucks that they cut so many scenes out...I heard a Harley movie us coming out..maybe it'll be in there...
That's not how the relationship really is. With changes and cuts you barely get the idea but the scene in the car proves that Harley lives for the Joker but not vice-versa at all.

It wouldn't have been a problem if that was the plan from the start. The fact is that they got an extremely talented recent OSCAR WINNER and basically just used him and the character of The Joker to pull in viewers to come watch the movie. Almost every single Joker scene in the movie was in the trailers. The real problem is that they hyped Jared's performance of The Joker up so fucking much, only to make Leto and his preparation of the role look half-assed. If they hadn't used him as bait to get the general audience to see the movie, as well as making him do so much work and film a shit ton of scenes just to cut almost all of them out in the end WB wouldn't be getting so much hate. However, the scumbags that run Warner Bros. decided they would make this man look like an asshole just because they think they know what the audience will like. This movie was created for THE FANS and WB turned it into a movie that would please the GENERAL AUDIENCE. Which, by the way, they absolutely failed at.

From what I hear the test screening was absolutely loved, some saying it should have debut the DCEU not BvS. Idk why they would change it if that's the case.

Hate to say this but the critics dont really have much idea what fans like. There are many films I have seen and loved that have been reviewed really badly. I wish they left it the way it was with all the joker scenes. I think Jared leto was well cast and I enjoyed him a lot.

They even cut the scene where the joker's face is messed up saying "ba-bye". and It is said that it was supposed to be that joker showed up on the squad fighting enchantress scene. but they changed it. it's a shame, for all the effort leto went through and all the make up and effects on his face just to be shown on trailers.

Leto's got that quiet, simmering anger that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand out. Just calm, composed, but clearly extremely pissed. It's almost like I'm afraid he's just gonna snap and break someone's neck, still wearing that placid expression and talking in the same, controlled tone.

I'm not Jared's biggest fan but I do feel for him, he did go in deep for the role (maybe a bit too much) and was probably led to believe he was going to be in it a lot more. He was basically used as a marketing tool. He got played. I feel I got played while I was watching the movie because the biggest draw for me was seeing Jared's interpretation of the Joker but all we got was like 10mins.

If I played a character that mainly EVERYONE is hyped for, acted this character for 6 months, stayed in character for 24/7, and shot more scenes then expected and get less screentime than I expected when I see the movie, I will be feeling like I was scammed._

You can tell Jared went so deep into this role. He was fully committed to the Joker, only to be disappointed when the studio decided to cut most of his scenes out. Don't get me wrong, I understand why they did it. Test audiences didn't respond well to the abusive side of the Joker/Harley Quinn relationship, so the director and the studio opted to make it more romantic. I don't think Jared is upset that they went this route. He's spoken highly of Margot in several interviews (have you seen the way he LOOKS at her?) and he clearly ships Joker/Harley, but he wanted more of his work to be recognized. Either way, we NEED more of Jared Leto's Joker and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn. Joker/Harley FTW!!!

I honestly watched the movie because I saw Harley and the Joker. The people promoting the movie all used the Joker as click bait. I came because I thought I was going to see more of the Joker, only to find out he has only 5-10 minutes in the entire film. very disappointing. Jared worked VERY hard acting out his part too, as well as planning out the joker's look, as discussed in his other interview. That's just not fair to cut so many of his scenes as well as the other characters. They should really make a Joker movie. I would 100% go and watch it. tbh i think the joker movie would've been better if they had cast jared again instead of changing it. his version of the joker was so good and he went to such extremes to make it so good that i think he really deserved that role. i haven't seen birds of prey yet but i know that jared wasn't cast for that either. i'm not sure how much the joker was in birds of prey but assuming the joker made it into at least one small scene or made on cameo, i just don't see why they wouldn't have used jared.

Not really in the context of how Suicide Squad set it up. Stockholm Syndrome would suggest that she spent a lot of time under his capture before she got all twisted. Rather, in the movie, it seems to suggest that she had some level of autonomy in her _decision_ to jump into the vat, which I appreciated, the same for the original cartoon, where she was already fascinated by him in the first place, and ended up falling in love with him.
It wouldn't be a traditional romance, no, and there might well be abuse in it. However, it could be viewed as a romance, potentially, particularly since Waller described them as "the king and queen of Gotham City, and God help anyone who disrespected the queen."

The actual story of Harley Quinn & the Joker is that she was his psychiatrist in Arkham Asylum & her original name was Harleen Quinzel. Long story short, the joker was so manipulative that he basically broke her & turned her into a maniac, just like him. He never felt any true affection for her -- she was just a puppet for him.
That's why fans were so happy when she finally got the guts to leave him & hook up with Poison Ivy

I feel the same! It felt rushed, and if it had been given more time they could have added a bit more depth and backstories to the characters. I loved it as it was though, and hopefully they'll make more in-depth spin offs in the future.

As to why his Joker was cut so much, I would blame either the studio or the fans themselves. Movie studios want money at the end of the day, whether a movie is good or bad. Not to mention, DC and Marvel have been having a "size" fight for decades. DC is trying to churn out movies at the same pace as Marvel which is giving us the half-assed rushed movies with backwards plots. MoS, BvS, and Suicide Squad all had the potential to be amazing movies if they were done the right way. The Joker has to be dark in order to be done the right way. Yes, he's all about the "laughs" but even with that, he's still a psychopath that kills people. And in order to portray Harley and Joker the right way, THE RELATIONSHIP HAS TO BE ABUSIVE. Which is where I blame the fans. I'm sorry because I know that seeing an abusive relationship is a trigger for some people, but that's the only way to tell their story. I'm not saying they have to include the more brutal aspects but fact of the matter is, their relationship is essential to Harley's character. And whether he wants to admit this or not, it's clear that on some level, The Joker does care about Harley. He might not be in love with her but he does care. Have Harley hit him back a few times, have them argue, or have them throw knives at each other. Anything. But don't downplay what their relationship is. I blame this politically correct world we live in.

if you cut scenes from the movie, dont fucking advertise them in the stupid trailers! And don't market the movie in such a way that makes everybody think that he would have a much more substantial role. That is literally one of the best ways to piss everybody off. Don't worry Jared, even if we dont get an extended cut, I think Ben Affleck will do you much more justice. What Margot said about having "too much" joker footage is beyond frustrating. If thats the case, then this was not the right movie to debut that character in. This movie could have benefited so much from a more street level story with the Joker as the big bad.

I'd appreciate a version where they didn't pussy out on showing the bad parts of the relationship as well. Don't get me wrong--I love the partnership, but I'm not faint of heart and I like the relationship multi-faceted. You can show them fighting and being cruel with each other and still exploring their twisted version of love x.x Guess we'll never get that level of character depth when the studio just wants money from the general audience. Ah well. I really want to see more of them, though.

Fair opinion. It doesn't have to be considered love, nothing by normal, socially acceptable standards certainly, I mean their definition of 'fun' would be murder so -- but I'm of the opinion that he is more attached to her than he'd ever admit. Does that even remotely count as some sort of affection? I dunno. Up to interpretation or whatever fits your view of them. The obsession might not be equal, but in some versions of them I think it definitely goes both ways. And yeah, If you look at the whole picture -- their lives are sad, period. Not just the relationship. Mentally unstable and constantly causing mayhem or being arrested. I still enjoy seeing this hot mess of a couple in action, tho.
There is no love, Harley is just a tool. It's wierd to see audiences really believing that this is literally a "relationship". I know Warner is fucking the original material, but to confuse people at this point is something scary.
Sigh. I read the comics. I know their history, I know all the arguments. I'm not fucking confused or new to the material so they aren't tricking me into seeing something. I personally don't like being given boring ass, easy, black and white excuses for character motives like 'Nope. He's incapable of this thing. Not even possible. Ever. In any incarnation because, reasons. If he does, someone wrote him wrong.' If someone wants to hit me with some reasoning behind that, like they consider Joker a psychopath and as a result, not emotionally capable of forming such attachments, then okay I see that perspective and I respect it. I personally consider him a sociopath, he used to be a somewhat normal individual like you or I and as he likes to claim, all it took was one bad day. While it would be impossible to have any sort of healthy relationship with another person, a sociopath can form attachments. No beautiful romance, hell no but uh...there is a relationship of some sort. I mean I know what you meant, but since the word covers the way any two people are connected, they do have one. I personally see it as another way to make the characters complex. Why is it easy to accept that Joker has some sick sort of infatuation with Bats that pisses all over the lines between love and hate, where he wants to shatter him to prove a point but thrives off their conflict at the same time--but he can't have something contradictory like that with Harley? To each their own, man--but that's just how I personally see the characters. We're not all gonna interpret things the same way--I mean look at New52. Some hate it, some love it--but my perspective isn't 'WB gave me Villains in love, AWWWW

They cut out all the stuff that defines the Harley-Joker relationship, which is historically extraordinarily abusive. In the comics and other media, Joker sees Harley as nothing more than a plaything that exists merely for his whims and amusement.

That's not how the relationship really is. With changes and cuts you barely get the idea but the scene in the car proves that Harley lives for the Joker but not vice-versa at all.

It wouldn't have been a problem if that was the plan from the start. The fact is that they got an extremely talented recent OSCAR WINNER and basically just used him and the character of The Joker to pull in viewers to come watch the movie. Almost every single Joker scene in the movie was in the trailers. The real problem is that they hyped Jared's performance of The Joker up so fucking much, only to make Leto and his preparation of the role look half-assed. If they hadn't used him as bait to get the general audience to see the movie, as well as making him do so much work and film a shit ton of scenes just to cut almost all of them out in the end WB wouldn't be getting so much hate. However, the scumbags that run Warner Bros. decided they would make this man look like an asshole just because they think they know what the audience will like. This movie was created for THE FANS and WB turned it into a movie that would please the GENERAL AUDIENCE. Which, by the way, they absolutely failed at.

They fucked up, they messed the Joker up, Leto did the best with what he was given and when it didn't work with test audiences they cut most of his scenes, who can blame the guy for being pissed.
From what I hear the test screening was absolutely loved, some saying it should have debut the DCEU not BvS. Idk why they would change it if that's the case.

Hate to say this but the critics dont really have much idea what fans like. There are many films I have seen and loved that have been reviewed really badly. I wish they left it the way it was with all the joker scenes. I think Jared leto was well cast and I enjoyed him a lot.

They even cut the scene where the joker's face is messed up saying "ba-bye". and It is said that it was supposed to be that joker showed up on the squad fighting enchantress scene. but they changed it. it's a shame, for all the effort leto went through and all the make up and effects on his face just to be shown on trailers.

Leto's got that quiet, simmering anger that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand out. Just calm, composed, but clearly extremely pissed. It's almost like I'm afraid he's just gonna snap and break someone's neck, still wearing that placid expression and talking in the same, controlled tone.
