- Today I headed out up north to Leighton Moss RSPB nature reserve in Cumbria, my aim today was just to go out and enjoy the reserve and photograph as much of the wildlife as possible.
Today started off early arriving at the reserve at 6:30 AM where I had it off straight to the lower hide as this is the height that is furthest away, and from there I can make my way back around the reserve.
I spent a couple of hours here this morning photographing the greylag geese, the tufted duck, Mallards, goldeneyes, and many more birds, there were a few bitton's in the reserve not that we could see any but we could hear them clearly from one end of the reserve to the other, with the booming voices.
After a while I headed up to the Causeway hide here I managed to photograph the great crested grebe, a lovely bird with great colour and decoration.
After spending an hour at the hide I decided to head over to the Grisedale hide on the other side of the reserve, there was not much going on a couple of herons on the marsh Harrier flew past, so I headed back to the visitor center for a break for something to eat and drink before continuing to photograph the wildlife in the RSPB nature reserve.
I decided to head back to the Causeway Hyde to photograph the great crested green, upon arrival the hide was full of visitors so I took it upon myself just to go and stand outside to one side of the hide, upon inspection I notice that the green we're sitting on a nest and suddenly the male jumped on the female animated, after which he jumped off and they both did a courtship dance, which was fantastic to watch and video and document these wonderful birds.
I hung around for a little while longer before heading back to the Grisedale hide where I would spend a few hours photographing the marsh Harrier on herons flying past the hide.
During the day I met a few of my CZcams subscribers which was really nice, and stopped to have a chat, always happy to meet my subscribers wherever and whoever you are.
A fantastic day out photographing wildlife at the RSPB nature reserve at
Leighton Moss I would highly recommend spending a day here as you will not be disappointed and there is plenty to see.

GREAT video, Went out Tuesday to my local reservoir and got some fantastic images of the Great Crested grebes. Lovely bird in their summer plumage.
Awesome video and images Ashley. Thanks for the mention. It was a pleasure to meet you mate. What a great place that Leighton Moss is. Keep up the good work. 😊
Top Video Ashley, I really enjoyed it and your footage and stills 📸👍🏽
Great stuff good photos looks like you had a great day keep them coming really enjoyed it thanks.
Thanks, Malcolm, yeh great day great weather and plenty of wildlife a perfect day I think. 😉
Very beautiful vlog and footages of birds!! ❤
Beautiful love this video some birds I’ve never seen
What a great day it was Ashley. I too got some good shots of the great crested grebes and the Marsh Harriers. I also thought that the small birds were conspicuous by their absence, not sure what was going on there. As mentioned when we met you might want to try Walney Island reserve - plenty of small birds there along with wildfowl and grey and common seals. Your vids are much appreciated as I know how much work they are to put together, so thanks and I for one am looking forwards to the next one. Great to meet you and thanks for the mention in the video.
Hi David thanks for the comment, and good to meet you, Yeh i might be heading up that way on Monday just going to see what the weather does first, but thanks for the tip and info, always looking for new places to visit. Glad you got some great images too. 👍
Yet another good video Ashley, love the Gt Crested Grebes, I managed to get a very short half hearted attempt at the mating dance from a pair of Grebes local to me last year, not far from you just North up the coast. BTW Happy to meet up again (my wife and I bumped into you at Martin Mere beginning of the year), you mention meeting with viewers in the video, I am on the Fylde coast also but happy to go anywhere. Thanks Chris
cheers for the comments Chris, yeh I remember meeting you by the hide, sure happy to go out and photograph let me know what days are best if any through the week, and we get get something sorted. message me on whats app, or Instagram 😁
@@WildlifePhotographerUK Messaged you Ashley ;)
Great episode.
I hope you don't mind, I have sent you an email with the location where you can find a nesting pair of Grebes, in Lancashire, that you can get within a couple of meters without disturbing them what so ever.
Cheers.
Thanks, Frankin, got the email much appreciated, many thanks, and Yeeh might take a trip out there next week, oh and stunning image you got of the grebe. 😉👍
