Tripreport - THOMSON Long-haul Economy Class Boeing 787 Dreamliner Flight to the Dominican Republic

- Airline Tripreport. This is a flight review (Tripreport) of our Thomson Airways (TUI Airways) Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flight to Puerto Plata (Gregorio Luperón International Airport) in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. We flew in economy class called "Dreamliner Class" on the Dreamliner. All footage of the journey is filmed from the economy class cabin. Our flight crew was mainly British with a Scandinavian stewardess on board too.
Our Thomson Airways(now called TUI Airways) Dreamliner (Boeing 787-8) had registration number G-TUIA and was named "Living the Dream". Our flight started at Copenhagen Airport in Denmark and the aircraft passengers where mainly Scandinavians (Swedish and Danish nationality). Our charter holiday trips where booked via Star Tour (name for TUI in Denmark) (Fritidsresor as TUI are called in Swedish) which is the same as TUI travel in the UK and Germany. I believe TUI is called ARKE in the Netherlands, is that correct?
Our Dreamliner flight review begins at Copenhagen Airport in Denmark. The viewer can follow our arrival at the airport (Terminal 3) before we walk down to Terminal 2 where out Thomson Airways check-in desk is located. We then check-in at the self check-in counters and the drop our luggage at the Thomson Airways Baggage Drop Off area. We then make our way up to the departures area via the tax free shopping area. Once through the tax free shopping area we walk over to the windows where there is a little snow storm outside, the first aircraft we see is the Qatar Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner being towed away. We walk around the airport for awhile before we again pass another passport control (2 x passport control because we are leaving the European Union). We then arrive at our departure gate area (our gate was C29) where we get our first glimpse of our Thomson Airways Dreamliner passenger aircraft which is rather covered in snow. It is here at the gate that we are told that the flight is delayed as there is a problem with the aircraft's water supply system which means that there is no water for the lavatories or tea and coffee.
We eventually board the plane just over 1 hour delayed. As we pushback and start taxiing we get some nice views of the Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft also standing at the C area gates, We also get some nice views of the terminal building construction project (I believe that the terminal is being upgraded to be able to handle the giant Airbus A380 aircraft, which currently do not fly to Copenhagen Airport. The aircraft then makes it´s way for de-icing where the viewer gets a cabin view at the deicing process of a Dreamliner Boeing 787 aircraft. After de-icing we taxi over to our runway for take off (Runway 04R), from this point our journey begins. Watch out for economy class cabin views where you can see the 3-3-3 seat arrangements, view the in flight entertainment system (IES) a touchscreen used mainly for movies, TV shows and the route and speed of the aircraft (also the reading light and stewardess calling button are found on the touch screen). We also visit the galley and lavatory. Inflight meals which we have prepaid also feature in the footage. We had one main meal and then one complimentary snack box just before landing. Also watch out for the famous Dreamliner mood lights, the fancy new self dimming windows.

Hi Maxi and Maro.Since I had a few time I checked at your channel to watch a video and I came up with this incredible footage from the past.It is amazing how frosty were the conditions at you departure airport with the plane covered with ice.We don't see much of this in Greek airports.The weather difference between Copenhagen and Puerto Plata was extreme.The weather in Puerto Plata looks a lot like the weather here in my country. Of course that is the beauty of our planet.The diversity in everything.The dreamliner and the A350 are planes that I would love to fly in the near future.Maybe next spring.Excellent work my friends.Cheers from Yannis

Well i just watched this from start to finish,i found the on screen comments very helpful,shame about the cold start.I am flying out to Aruba on 787 dreamliner and going premium both ways,so this gave me a great insight to the journey.Hope enjoyed Dominican republic.

We where thinking about doing the same but it was far to expensive to upgrade (I believe that the price is cheaper in the UK). As far as I remember the upgrade to Premium is around an extra 1000 Euros per person in Denmark (not 100% sure). It was nice to see the sun and the sea during the European winter, but the Dominican Republic is not a place we would return to again (we feel Asia, where we usually go has more to offer). Aruba sounds fantastic, have only heard good things from there! Have a lovely and safe holiday and have fun on the Dreamliner!! Thanks again for watching and commenting :-D

Great in-flight video, and very helpful information! Cruising views were especially good. When I flew over the Atlantic and looked down to see nothing but the ocean, I felt really small!! Liked:)

It was my first time flying over the Atlantic and then flying onboard the Dreamliner which does have a bit of a "reputation" (We did feel small over the huge ocean hehe). Flight was excellent and the Dreamliner really does seem to deal with turbulence better (I was watching one of the wing stabilizers/aileron working constantly through turbulence). Just arrived home and still jet lag after 5 days, will be coming to watch your vids again soon!! Have a lovely weekend :-D

This the best out of all the Thomson 787 flights very in depth, hope you did back then enjoy your holiday this year I'm going to Greece Rhodes with Thomson and I know it's a 4 hour flight but they are using the 787 which is cool!

Amazing work once agian Traveller! Very well put together and many great views on the terminals & aircraft! The 787 looks very neat from inside! This Thomson 787 flies also some charter flights from HEL to Mauritius during the winter and I actually filmed the same aircraft as you flew on (G-TUIA) on the 29th of December here ;) I hope you had a nice & warm holiday in the Carribean!!

Nice! Very enjoyable to watch
Never knew Thomson did flights from Copenhagen, only thought Tui Nordic did them, quite often see the dreamliner at Manchester. Spotted the TUI 787-9 at one point, that thing is huge!
We believe that it probably had something to do with the fact that the Dreamliners were so new to the Thomson Group at that stage. As a group it would make sense that TUI could use it´s Dreamliners on as many of it´s European routes as possible, a good marketing stunt. We chose to book a tour with them because of the fact that they were using a Dreamliner! The Dreamliner is a fantastic aircraft and always a pleasure to watch! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Traveller I have flown Thomson a few times, First when they were branded as Britannia but in the Thomsonfly Colours on a 767 and quite recently on a 737
They are a great Airline. The staff has always been friendly :D
We have also only had good experiences with this airline, and agree that the staff are always friendly!

Really great and informative trip report as always! Caught G-TUIA in Helsinki just couple of days after your flight! It's a beautiful aircraft and a great plane for holiday operations! Love how you can see the contrails forming when you're seating behind the wing!

Once again a great video :D. Nice looking interior, but not a fan of the 3-3-3 seating config, as it's planned to cram as many people in as possible. Surely 2-4-2 would be better like the 330 and 340 ?

Just for your information, the liquid on your window you refeer to as "water". Might be Deicing fluid, which is a very thick fluid compared to water. And can stay on the aircraft for hours. It's more like frostings.

It took 5 days to edit and almost 1 day to upload :-D Glad you watched it in two days (I expect most people if interested in this vid will watch it in parts, that is why I allowed it to be longer than usual). Good question regarding the De-icing, I did some Googling but did not find an answer to your question. I did find out that it is (for whoever pays) a rather expensive service. The holiday was fun (my first time to the Caribbean) but in the future we will spend our winter holidays in Asia (Thailand), we prefer it there! A fine example of how your country deals with bad weather ! I am from uk and I can tell you, , if this weather happened here, flights would be cancelled until all snow gone , ruining countless holidays on a daily basis !!

Hi, at 51.16 what TV do the seats in front of a bulkhead or toilets watch? Is there a TV in the wall? Didnt look like it. (Great video btw, this will be my 2nd time on the Dreamliner :) )
