i never will forget walking into Woollen Gym after classes in the late 80’s and on court 1 was current UNC players(JR Reid, King Rice, etc)playing against guys who already graduated. i specifically remember Walter Davis, Sam Perkins, Kenny Smith, and Jordan being there. Normally there were multiple games going but on this day everybody else was just sitting on the gym floor watching the spectacle on court 1

LeBron is the real psycho! Dude has serious control freak issues that nobody talks about, he’s become extremely unstable since he joined the Heat back in 2010.

Jordan was Bird's victim--but not the biggest. I like to back up my argument for GOAT with facts, truth, and stats--not who won the most championships, or who is the flashiest dunker, who took the most shots, or the best shoe salesman. I believe GOAT means All-Time, All-Around Best Player, all aspects of the game should be considered--scoring, rebounding, assisting, stealing, and blocking, defense, and career win % (it's all about winning). When you look at the major stats for a career (pts, reb, ast, stl, and blk PER GAME), plus Overall Defensive Rating, and Career win %, and look where Bird ranks on the all-time list for those stats/metrics, add them up and the LOWER the number, the BETTER the all-around player. Bird is 20th in pts, 54th in rebounds, 47th in assists, 38th in steals, 217th in blocks, 61st in overall defensive rating, and 2nd in win %. Add those ranking's numbers up, and his number is 439--besting all the others (Jordan, Magic, Lebron, Curry, etc). In most cases, it isn't even close!! Jordan alone, because he isn't in the top 250 in rebounding, I graciously give him a 250 for that stat (though he is probably between 300-400), and he is still at 729!! Not even close! This goes to show you that most people are pretty ignorant or have trouble defining what great basketball really is. If Jordan had any pride (since he is 0-6 v Bird in the playoffs), he would come out and tell his zombies who the GOAT really is. He knows in his heart that Bird is the best to ever play. Bird beat Jordan ruthlessly 70% of the time in the regular season, and 100% of the time in the playoffs. Hell, Jordan had losing seasons his first 3 seasons, and didn't have a winning season until Pippen arrived. Bird took the 2nd worst team in the league (29-52) to a league best 61-21 his ROOKIE year and won the title his 2nd year--no Ainge, no DJ, and a rookie McHale. That is what playing winning basketball is all about. What is it about Jordan? the 6 championships came against talent he could beat--but he never won anything in the 80s--times were tough then, the first 6 years of his career. Using this metric, how does your pick for GOAT stack up?

Measuring defense is famously impossible in the NBA. But MJ made 9 1st team All-Defense; Bird made 3 All-Defense teams... no 1st teams. Bird is undeniably great, top 6 all-time, but while it's not all about rings, it's also not all about stats, or ranking stats. If it were, then any scoring big man would outrank any playmaking PG.
MJ had a season where he averaged 32.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 8.0 apg, plus 2.9 spg, 0.8 bpg; dude could fill the stat sheet. But not all stats are built the same; if they were, then Westbrook might finish his career as the best player ever. Wilt Chamberlain would be an all-time great.

The game is about winning, though. That season that Jordan put up those numbers is a phenomenal feat--incredible production--but it didn't translate to winning. I don't even mention a guy's game stats if it doesn't translate to a win. I don't boast about a guy's season stats when they aren't a playoff threat. Jordan's 88-89 season was self-productive, but I think they got bounced in the 1st round, winning maybe 1 playoff game. So I totally agree it isn't all about stats, especially if the team is losing. I am sure Bird wouldn't trade any of his seasons, of which he was always a playoff threat, for a single season that ended in a 1st round bounce, regardless of those numbers. He only cared about winning. Bird had some gawdy individual season's as well (28.7, 10.6, 6.6, 1.6, 1.2 in 84-85), and his play propelled them to the Finals that year--but what impresses me most about Bird is that he did it for a career at 24-10-6 with 1.7 and 0.84--no one in the history of the game can make that claim except Bird, and he won while doing it--that isn't an award or popularity prize. When I think about the game's x-factors (clutchness, toughness, trash-talk, hustle, work ethic, unselfishness, winning), I am pretty sure Bird had all that in spades from what I saw, too. He did everything and had no weaknesses, and he won the whole way. He may be your top 6, he is my top 1. He won his whole career beginning with taking his team to +32 wins his rookie year. Jordan was +11 his rookie year and had 3 straight losing seasons. Bird took a group of nobody's at ISU to 33-0 into the title game avg. 32-13-5 in college--hell, they had never even made the tournament prior to that. The fact is, if you had Larry Bird, and warm bodies, you were still going to win and be a serious playoff threat, year after year. And Bird beat the best to win his titles--by the best I mean teams who had won titles and are considered all-time teams--top notch competition. Jordan never really beat anybody. The best they beat were probably Utah, but Utah never beat anyone or won anything. My biggest issue with Jordan was his impact--When he sat out 93-94, the Bulls only lost 2 more regular season games without him. Boston went 37-29 without Bird in 88-89, but went 52-25 with him the year before. Bird just seemed to have a bigger impact for his team's success--probably because he didn't have a Robin they could rely on, or even any other 20 pt scorer. People value things differently--Bird put winning at the top with no excuses.@@SchulzEricT

Not really, the Bad Boy Pistons were such b*****s that they had to resort to thuggery to contain 1 man,. And when their b***h moves were called out, prohibited as no one really like seeing a whole team gang up/beat up/injure a singular player, their b***h-a***s had to run wailing to their mommas after suffering a sweep. You might want to say MJ cried like a baby so that Stern would ban those b***h moves, but current players would flop, prostrate themselves simply because of defenders' fingers liightly grazing their wrists or sensations of excessive air current from the passing limbs of their defenders.
