Going from "people kicking over robots" to "AI that can read minds" feels like a villain origin story.

0:45 I like how you can even hear someone say "And now some fish is gonna- (eat it)" right before the turtle gets snatched.
BRO IT'S YOU
As a person who uses toilets, I can confirm that is a weird toilet sound.

Man that's a toilet that I'll find at a public restroom
I’m gonna be top comment, aren’t I?
sound normal to mee ?
relatable
As a person with vivid dreams and imagination, I can finally scare the crap out of my family. Thank you science. 😂
i had a dream where i visited someone's apartment inside of a school and he got in trouble for changing the movie and i looked in the bathroom and saw a mob boss doing something that shouldn't be talked about. the entire dream was inside of a dystopia kinda like hl2 beta
A dog barking at itself after accidentally ringing a doorbell is the most dog thing I've seen all year.
As a toilet I can confirm we sound like this when we are emotionally and physically traumatized by all the things humans put us thru
Loved the representation on that episode of The Amazing World of Gumball!
The things you must have seen 😢

My toilet has a restraining order against me.
1:25 The thing is that this isn’t reading people thoughts. It’s reading what they’re seeing, which I would assume is a whole ton easier since the brain has to devote a lot of its power to visual processing. I’m not downplaying it at all. That is absolutely amazing technology. I just wanted to clarify at least one aspect of this that may make it seem less like all-powerful magic
it's true, but the fact that we can decode synaptic firings at all means we're a stone's throw away from mind reading.
This Is Exhilarating!!!
So get excited!!!
Haha, yeah catchy phrases like that are some of the contributors to the whole "science communication is hard" thing that's been going on recently
Are you cracked? This is just the beginning of course it’s just showing what they are seeing it’s called beta testing. Now they just have to make it work without media.
@Midget Spinner And that's terrifying. The only privacy any of us truly possesses is within the sanctity of our own minds. Lose that, and I don't even want to imagine the consequences.
Imagine if they took that bear "out of its misery" before they realized it was a costume.
0:22 the robot menacingly T-posing in the background 😂😂😂
I don't really tend to feel bad for machines, but that robot trying its best while getting constantly shoved down withered my heart in a very strange way.
I cheered when it got the ball in the goal and then it immediately got shoved
The robot was adorable trying to kick the ball
Me too. Humans are trash.
It's a representation of life
i know, it looked so frustrated somehow :(
actual mind reading being around the corner is amazing and absolutely terrifying
Minority Report incoming.
A bot stole your comment
TBH it´s more terrfying to me!
Surely it won't be used against the population for anything

Death smoke, mind-reading AI, and cute baby turtles whisked away to their doom
In a world with numerous problems, we gotta remember to be like the robot who kept getting up to score a goal
Buddy, the mind reading A.I. is still in its' infancy and your already assuming that it will end in disaster. This world isn't some sci-fi novel where every bit of foreshadowing is always true.
@@spoolofyarn6682 Okay, you can assume that they want to put brain chips to peoples minds "for good reason". I dont find anything good on that.
Ok but like what are we gonna do about the turtle issue
If I were that robot, I would scream for a penalty.
The turtle getting swept was cruel but it’s Mother Nature stop pouting over it
No way would I trust a machine to put on my eyelashes, no matter how "safe" it's supposed to be!! Thanks for sharing these videos! Awesome as always!!
Well theyve already been doing laser and cateract correction implants for a while, involves cutting a small opening and sliding an artificial lens in the eye, actually pretty amazing 😅
"Can somebody tell me why my toilet sounds like this?"
"SKIBIDI DOM DOM DOM YES YES"
Shut up
The robot seemed happy enough to display its ability and not let a bit of human harassment get it down.
Not for long- soon its gonna snap 💀
I know that this is just a silly video, but I should caution that anthropomorphizing computers can be dangerous. It could lead to being too cautious of a useful machine, or too trusting of a dangerous one.
(In this case, the robot isn't designed to even mimic having feelings. It truly, deeply, does not care how many times it's knocked over.)
@@antonliakhovitch8306 No matter how much rational and grounded we try to be, you can't keep human beings from anthropomorphizing and developing emotional bonds with inanimate objects. Children do it with their teddy bears and their toys. Some people feel like their car is an additional family member. Sailors have always called their boats with "she" pronouns. Humans crave connection, even with things who cannot reciprocate their affection, it's just the way it is.
@@celian.6577 I know, but just because it's natural doesn't mean it isn't dangerous.
The difference with cars and boats is that there isn't much danger in trusting them, because they can't think (yet). The fact that this is natural human behavior *is* what makes it so scary.
For example, Amazon would want nothing more than for you to be emotionally attached to its voice-controlled shopping device. That's happening *now*, the future is bleaker.
Ok, but the scientist feeling bad about knocking the robot over again at 0:29 is very relatable lol
She knows this is how you get Skynet ...
You may think it's a cute little robot playing football, but once the robot is larger than human size and is coming after you with weapons you will wish that when you knock it down that it stays down. Yes, I've seen Terminator movies but I'm talking about real life weaponized robots used by police states and invading armies.

As someone in that air quality right now, the last day of school was quite the show. People leaving early, teachers leaving early, and all the asthmatic kids piling into the nurses office for masks, and worst of all our school doesn't have any form of air circulation, so the smoke collected in the halls and the halls were almost as bad as being outside.
Wtf?
Our field trip to NYC got canceled because of it, we didn’t get as much smoke though
do you go to champlin park?
Canada ruins everything
You are still in school this far into the summer?
Mom: Hey this cool device lets you rewatch your dreams and i cant see them too!
Me: No Thank You
The bear ate somebody and now they are fighting to get out of the bear's body. Amazing.
That mind reading machine is definitely not going to be used in any nefarious way at all!
It's not mind reading thats the danger. If that technology could be used programme the mind then we've lost, we've all lost.
They've already been doing it for years. They can do it from satellite. But they can also implant the same thing onto your brain from frequencies and you believe that you're seeing/hearing/feeling it.
Because once the AI has the blueprint or 'code' of the brain frequencies of all different things, they can then generate an image from scratch and then send it to your brain.
You dont ever question something that you think are your own thoughts or what you think you're seeing with your eyes. But they're not yours at all.
From what I can tell, it can only read what you’re looking at in that moment. It might be able to read what you’re thinking of if you’re actively visualizing something, but you could just not visualize stuff while the device is on your head.

do you think the mind reading technology could work on coma patients? like being able to kind of weirdly communicate with them or see what they are experiencing
Or at least see what they are experiencing....
Bro. That would be perfect for people with locked in syndrome because they can think in reason but can't physically show it, so having a machine to tell people what they are trying to say would be amazing
@Ami that's... what they said.
Based on what kind of coma yes there is coma where the brain basically shuts down so to say, there is nothing for the AI to read.
It would be interesting to use it on a dying person to see what the last moments look like
As a native New Yorker, it was a sight to see with that smoke… Very apocalyptic… but people just walking around made it even more eerie lol
Soooo…. Normal day then amirite?

Except, it was not an injured bear, it was a sleeping person in a bear suit.
The AI deciphering our thoughts is just terrifying imagine the future where no one has any privacy..
i'm gonna have to get better at thinking of weird or incomprehensive things.

As creepy as the mind-reading AI is, I would absolutely love to be able to watch one of my dreams on playback, to see the quick and abrupt transitions between one time and place to another and the weird things that happen in the dream world. I feel like it would help scientists understand the subconscious better as well.
