I've always thought that about big time high school prospects that aren't the best of the best shouldn't go into places like OSU or Alabama. Right now UNLV is starting a freshman at quarterback from Hawaii so the likelihood of Tate starting is highly unlikely and he’s either going to stay and work hard or he’ll end up transferring again. If you can work hard and beat out the freshman for next season that will be a good jump for his career or to end in his career in college.

    The great ones figure out a way to get on the field. Tate had no competition in high school and all that did was hurt him. He never gained that competitive edge needed to succeed against other great prospects. As far as football he should consider hanging up his cleats. But he could make a good coach and have others learn from his experiences. Just hope he can be honest about his journey through all the football opportunities and not push blame on others. It is sad though when a ballyhooed kid never lives up to the expectations. He may have had all the talent in the world but if his heart's not in it he'll be a bust.

    In the previous two seasons Poway was returning off an 11-0-1 San diego section championship and then 10-3 season San diego section runner-up after beating the returning state champs Helix in the SD playoffs, so pretty sure little Tate deserves some of the blame there in his first encounter with adversity where he failed miserably and curled up into a ball

    Matt: I’m not going to call him insane.
    Comment section: I will.
    Nah, but he’s not insane, he’s just a bust. He was great in HS but wasn’t facing top comp at the point he was challenged week in and week out, and that made him soft. What’s worst he was soft and had a mouth that was writing checks he couldn’t cash. Aside from going after Justin Fields (pause to laugh at that stupid choice) there was the trash he was talking about Nick Starkel when he was committed at A&M.
    Note to any young players: If you’re choosing to play at D1 and especially for a powerhouse Natty contender year in and year out you have to be aware that there’s a very good chance you can be up replaced every year just by being a good player. “Good” might keep your spot, but you have to grind for EXCELLENCE whether you’re the 4 string QB or Heisman hopeful, there’s always more 4-5 star recruits.
    Tate should’ve stayed in the west coast no Nevada, maybe Texas at most. It would’ve been more relaxed and least let him get on the field. Not as big of a stage but if he wanted to put in work and get on the field to improve his stock that would’ve been it.

    I'm a diehard Dawgs fan, and I remember fields coming to GA and from the start was running his mouth about how he was just going to show up and beat out fromm and maybe he could have, but first of all I dont think GA had a offense that favored fields just dont think they had a playbook for him at the time what bothered me about fields is that he came out playing the race card which is just ridiculous but ok whatever I'm happy for fields getting his shot at Ohio state and made the best of it but not a big fan of his personality when he didnt get his way.

  • @TCSkillz3310
    @TCSkillz3310 Před 2 lety

    I think the play would have been staying at Ohio State. He was the backup as a freshman and played limited minutes and probably would have been the backup to Fields but now he could have had a chance to be the starter as a senior once Fields left and pull a Burrow type of senior season to make his NFL case. (Not saying he’s anywhere as talented as burrow). I think he has the talent but just didn’t want to put in the work to win a job or have the patience to wait til that job is his like you said and now years later maybe all that stress of trying to find the right school has taken a toll and has finally started effecting his play to where he isn’t as talented as he once was.

    You see the same thing in motocross now. The guys that dominate as kids and face no adversity flop in the pro. It has to do with being handed everything too early and crazy parents, Tate has both. The kids that make it in moto and at QB now are scrappers that have to fight for everything on their come up so when they get there they know how and what they're working for.

    At 12:00 I dont think he was scared or he ran or he lied. I bet his attitude was already a thing and when he said that, and likely said more IRL, the program said “we’re bigger than you, this wont fly” and basically told him “No” and he left. Not justifying, but I doubt he ran, more so he got pushed out. Granted, a good leader/player wouldnt be in that position with their program, or at least would apologize and then stay and improve, win them over, and play. He prolly acted an ass, they whooped his ass, so he left.
