Coaches make these decisions bro. I'm certain OSU coach told him Fields was going to be the starter & also Miami coach moving him to WR after he got beat out.
there is also a phenomenon where some players look like ass in practice but they have intangibles that come out in a game that makes them a star.. unfortunately for players like this, you will have a hard time getting the playing time to prove it because someone just might look "better" in practice.
Fields didn't go to Ohio St expecting to have to work or compete for the starting position. He was told if he came there he would start. Martel believed he would be the starter after all the work and time he put in which is why he made that statement. Then he was informed that fields would be getting the job so Martell transferred. I don't blame him one bit
I’m from the UK, seen Tate 1st on QB1, him and his family came across as so entitled and arrogant. Thought at the time he’ll never make the pros with that attitude. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work!
@@A1245fgh Eh, Spencer at least got them to a bowl game and he’s not as good id agree especially as a longhorns fan but he’s still gonna be a starter at a decent to good P5 program if he just gets out of his own way and Caleb Williams now replacing him for good might finally get through to him that being cocky etc isn’t gonna get him anywhere
I don’t really remember people calling for fields to start. He hadn’t played so no one knew really what they had. I thought it was pretty well known Jake was a better scheme fit
Right now UNLV is starting a freshman at quarterback from Hawaii so the likelihood of Tate starting is highly unlikely and he’s either going to stay and work hard or he’ll end up transferring again. If you can work hard and beat out the freshman for next season that will be a good jump for his career or to end in his career in college.
The great ones figure out a way to get on the field. Tate had no competition in high school and all that did was hurt him. He never gained that competitive edge needed to succeed against other great prospects. As far as football he should consider hanging up his cleats. But he could make a good coach and have others learn from his experiences. Just hope he can be honest about his journey through all the football opportunities and not push blame on others. It is sad though when a ballyhooed kid never lives up to the expectations. He may have had all the talent in the world but if his heart's not in it he'll be a bust.
In the previous two seasons Poway was returning off an 11-0-1 San diego section championship and then 10-3 season San diego section runner-up after beating the returning state champs Helix in the SD playoffs, so pretty sure little Tate deserves some of the blame there in his first encounter with adversity where he failed miserably and curled up into a ball
going to ohio state was not a good decision ,,,, look at joe burrow he had to go to LSU to get any playing time and he won the big trophy which he never would have even played at ohio state . they like a certain kind of QB at ohio state and martell is not what they want .
Matt: I’m not going to call him insane. Comment section: I will. Nah, but he’s not insane, he’s just a bust. He was great in HS but wasn’t facing top comp at the point he was challenged week in and week out, and that made him soft. What’s worst he was soft and had a mouth that was writing checks he couldn’t cash. Aside from going after Justin Fields (pause to laugh at that stupid choice) there was the trash he was talking about Nick Starkel when he was committed at A&M. Note to any young players: If you’re choosing to play at D1 and especially for a powerhouse Natty contender year in and year out you have to be aware that there’s a very good chance you can be up replaced every year just by being a good player. “Good” might keep your spot, but you have to grind for EXCELLENCE whether you’re the 4 string QB or Heisman hopeful, there’s always more 4-5 star recruits. Tate should’ve stayed in the west coast no Nevada, maybe Texas at most. It would’ve been more relaxed and least let him get on the field. Not as big of a stage but if he wanted to put in work and get on the field to improve his stock that would’ve been it.
I hope he plays tomorrow against my alma mater, Univ of Nev, Reno. We have a good QB Carson Strong, but it is a rivalry game and those are difficult. Even against a shitty UNLV team.
It might be the size of the football as you move up the ball gets bigger he may not be able to make all the throws with the NCAA football to build an offense around him
I'm a diehard Dawgs fan, and I remember fields coming to GA and from the start was running his mouth about how he was just going to show up and beat out fromm and maybe he could have, but first of all I dont think GA had a offense that favored fields just dont think they had a playbook for him at the time what bothered me about fields is that he came out playing the race card which is just ridiculous but ok whatever I'm happy for fields getting his shot at Ohio state and made the best of it but not a big fan of his personality when he didnt get his way.
“Race card”? Georgia students and athletes (baseball players) were literally calling Justin the N-w0rd at Georgia home football games. 😂 It’s on video and was on the news. His race claims were legit. 🤷🏾♂️
I think the play would have been staying at Ohio State. He was the backup as a freshman and played limited minutes and probably would have been the backup to Fields but now he could have had a chance to be the starter as a senior once Fields left and pull a Burrow type of senior season to make his NFL case. (Not saying he’s anywhere as talented as burrow). I think he has the talent but just didn’t want to put in the work to win a job or have the patience to wait til that job is his like you said and now years later maybe all that stress of trying to find the right school has taken a toll and has finally started effecting his play to where he isn’t as talented as he once was.
Why wouldn't he at least think he could switch to WR in college? There are numerous WRs in the NFL who were QBs in college, were signed, and then the NFL team changed their positions. If it's possible in the pros it should be possible in college
He was not a 5 star recruit lol. He was not even the highest rated QB in OSU’s recruiting class that year. He was given a grade of 80 by espn and barely was a 4 star
If not for the Netflix series no one would even know who this clown is… he was tv hype…he lost 7 games his first year before transferring to BG, which was full of REAL division 1 talent. He is a rich kid with division 2 talent at best
He went to Bishop Gorman HS! I would say that was a mistake, if he wanted a more competitive environment and better week to week football he should have gone to CA. Texas Florida major States with Major HS programs!
Maybe coach Ryan Day told him that Justin Fields was going to be the starter see that's the part that we never see that these conversations with the coach and these players
I cannot forgot how much hype this dude had when I was at the osu msu game back in 2018 , every time Dwayne Haskins thru a bad pass the entire crowd started chanting his name , so many #18 jerseys when dude never even played a single snap He always seemed like he carried an entitled attitude around with him and when you see his family you realize why he acts the way he does 😂😂😂 all they cared about what being celebrities
Poway Football 2012: CIF D 1 SD Champs 2013: CIF D2 SD runner up 2014: 4-7 with tate martell where he showed he cannot stand the slightest bit of adversity and foreshadowed his future career..... hmmmm great research.
You see the same thing in motocross now. The guys that dominate as kids and face no adversity flop in the pro. It has to do with being handed everything too early and crazy parents, Tate has both. The kids that make it in moto and at QB now are scrappers that have to fight for everything on their come up so when they get there they know how and what they're working for.
These 5* QBs should just hedge their bets and transfer to middling teams like Minnesota rather than continue believing their own hype and going to top programs
At 12:00 I dont think he was scared or he ran or he lied. I bet his attitude was already a thing and when he said that, and likely said more IRL, the program said “we’re bigger than you, this wont fly” and basically told him “No” and he left. Not justifying, but I doubt he ran, more so he got pushed out. Granted, a good leader/player wouldnt be in that position with their program, or at least would apologize and then stay and improve, win them over, and play. He prolly acted an ass, they whooped his ass, so he left.

He wants to have the offense revolve around him, and not many fans had confidence with him taking the helm at any point.
This is the first time I’ve seen your channel or videos, I’m curious if you ever played football or any sports at a competitive level?
yeah, like when dude was talking about tate switching to receiver. most football players know you really dont choose to switch positions, the coaches do.
@@jordanmccord7300 yea I mean I was just curious cuz for the first video I heard he’s speaking very matter of fact about kids at the college level which if you’ve never played competitively outside high school there’s a way to talk about things that doesn’t make you sound like a clown if in fact you never played any sport yourself competitively.
Obviously in all sports there are heavily recruited, highly rated kids that fall apart or don’t make it for one reason for another, but again if you never played anything for yourself there’s a way to report a story like that without coming across as a prick with zero credibility.
If dude did play college ball or anything above the high school level then hey Atleast I can respect it more and not look at it like “who are you to speak on anything the way you do considering you never played anything outside teeball or jv football at the local high school”
That’s just my opinion but again I don’t know this guys backstory so I can’t say either way, that’s why I was genuinely asking if he had any background as far as if I subscribe or look at more videos compared to being a one shot deal.
Them Gorman Bishop unis…. SICK..!!!!
Coaches make these decisions bro. I'm certain OSU coach told him Fields was going to be the starter & also Miami coach moving him to WR after he got beat out.
Why do the coaches make the decisions? Cause the better player will play. They aren't playing stars.
there is also a phenomenon where some players look like ass in practice but they have intangibles that come out in a game that makes them a star.. unfortunately for players like this, you will have a hard time getting the playing time to prove it because someone just might look "better" in practice.
Spencer rattler is another good example of entitled and arrogant to huge bust
@@A1245fgh Eh, Spencer at least got them to a bowl game and he’s not as good id agree especially as a longhorns fan but he’s still gonna be a starter at a decent to good P5 program if he just gets out of his own way and Caleb Williams now replacing him for good might finally get through to him that being cocky etc isn’t gonna get him anywhere
So true
you should make a what happened to malik henry if u still havent
I don’t really remember people calling for fields to start. He hadn’t played so no one knew really what they had. I thought it was pretty well known Jake was a better scheme fit
"PRIDE COMES BEFORE A FALL!!"
He will be college footballs first QB & team doctor at same time
Right now UNLV is starting a freshman at quarterback from Hawaii so the likelihood of Tate starting is highly unlikely and he’s either going to stay and work hard or he’ll end up transferring again. If you can work hard and beat out the freshman for next season that will be a good jump for his career or to end in his career in college.
Make a video on where Braden bratcher went🙏
The great ones figure out a way to get on the field. Tate had no competition in high school and all that did was hurt him. He never gained that competitive edge needed to succeed against other great prospects. As far as football he should consider hanging up his cleats. But he could make a good coach and have others learn from his experiences. Just hope he can be honest about his journey through all the football opportunities and not push blame on others. It is sad though when a ballyhooed kid never lives up to the expectations. He may have had all the talent in the world but if his heart's not in it he'll be a bust.
Yea because he was unchallenged in HS any sign of competition he runs from believing he should be THE GUY
Easily the biggest bust outta HS ever
Jhonny manziel?? Tim tebow?
@@hoodietheentertainer884 he’s talkin bout from HS to college. Maziel n Tebow won heismans
@@hoodietheentertainer884 he said outta highschool
Xavier lee at FSU
Blake Barnett and Max Browne
You should do one of Dylan Morris from Washington. He transferred after UW lost Penix to the draft and they got a transfer will Rodgers
Coming from a miami fan that dude was one of the weirdest players to watch on the field 😂
I have a Tate Martel towel from when he was at OSU
In the previous two seasons Poway was returning off an 11-0-1 San diego section championship and then 10-3 season San diego section runner-up after beating the returning state champs Helix in the SD playoffs, so pretty sure little Tate deserves some of the blame there in his first encounter with adversity where he failed miserably and curled up into a ball
Looks like that First transfer in HIGHSCHOOL started a habit. Also that school probably would've still been great without him.
Decommitting is a big warning.
going to ohio state was not a good decision ,,,, look at joe burrow he had to go to LSU to get any playing time and he won the big trophy which he never would have even played at ohio state . they like a certain kind of QB at ohio state and martell is not what they want .
Qbs that don’t work out in the NFL is their certain kind lol (we’ll see with Fields though)
Yup he should've committed to Texas A&M
It might be the size of the football as you move up the ball gets bigger he may not be able to make all the throws with the NCAA football to build an offense around him
Tate Martell is the reason I’m worried about Quinn Ewers hype
"He never lost a hs game, except the 7 he lost that I'll mention later"
I'm glad I'm not the only one that picked up on that.
😂
He kept saying it
@@brandonmilbry6793 let's go Brandon!
I was about to ask was mine the only one blurry
Why is half the video blurry
I wonder if Arizona would be good.
So strange to see his demise. I did notice he gets more tattoos with each move.
All these number one qbs seem to always be bust
Im up next
He was not a 5 star recruit lol. He was not even the highest rated QB in OSU’s recruiting class that year. He was given a grade of 80 by espn and barely was a 4 star
If not for the Netflix series no one would even know who this clown is… he was tv hype…he lost 7 games his first year before transferring to BG, which was full of REAL division 1 talent. He is a rich kid with division 2 talent at best
People forget Justin fields was committed to penn state before he went to Georgia. That’s what that tweet was referring to
Tate martell went to my school graduated before I got here though
I'll give it to Martell at UNLV but their coaching staff is terrible...they just need to start him
What you get when you grow up in a everyone gets a ribbon life.
Well put
Tate was behind Haskins and Burrows that spring
make a trabis ward video
Those numbers were great for Tate. Fields should of started at GA obviously
He went 4-7 as a freshmen....that's not undefeated
Dorian Thompson-Robinson is doing pretty good
He went to Bishop Gorman HS! I would say that was a mistake, if he wanted a more competitive environment and better week to week football he should have gone to CA. Texas Florida major States with Major HS programs!
Hey look it’s my brother!
Maybe coach Ryan Day told him that Justin Fields was going to be the starter see that's the part that we never see that these conversations with the coach and these players
Opportunity trumps ability
His sister deserves a mention
Spencer Rattler is heading in this direction
Facts
I cannot forgot how much hype this dude had when I was at the osu msu game back in 2018 , every time Dwayne Haskins thru a bad pass the entire crowd started chanting his name , so many #18 jerseys when dude never even played a single snap
He always seemed like he carried an entitled attitude around with him and when you see his family you realize why he acts the way he does 😂😂😂 all they cared about what being celebrities
Do Gunner Kiel!
Poway Football 2012: CIF D 1 SD Champs 2013: CIF D2 SD runner up 2014: 4-7 with tate martell where he showed he cannot stand the slightest bit of adversity and foreshadowed his future career..... hmmmm great research.
Dude should of went the juco route
You see the same thing in motocross now. The guys that dominate as kids and face no adversity flop in the pro. It has to do with being handed everything too early and crazy parents, Tate has both. The kids that make it in moto and at QB now are scrappers that have to fight for everything on their come up so when they get there they know how and what they're working for.
These 5* QBs should just hedge their bets and transfer to middling teams like Minnesota rather than continue believing their own hype and going to top programs
Quarterbacks are trash now, the 5* is really 3½*. The quality of QB has dropped exponentially
