Bad thing about today's CPUs and GPUs: not even 1% of the energy put in is being used a processing power. All is being lost as heat and as well as the energy to move the heat away (aka cooling) so the thing doesn't overheat.

Nvidia's advantage have a significant head start in terms of development and market presence. Their GPUs are well-established and supported by a mature software ecosystem.
If Tesla achieves the claimed 40x performance boost, Dojo could become a leader in specific AI training tasks. However, it might require significant software development to fully utilize its potential. Currently Tesla is buying as many NVDA H100 chips as they can get.

That's two new revolutionary game changing technologies announced by Sam in the past 24 hours. I ran some numbers from the past 12 months of Viking videos, and it's amazing. Sam averaged three and a half "game changer" technologies each week. Thats 182 "game changers" from May 2023 to May 2024, or about 14 per month. Sam mentioned 2 weeks ago that his background was in marketing and that's what his videos essentially are, the relentless promotion of battery cars. The videos are interesting and entertaining and I think he's a good bloke at heart, but I wouldn't get too excited about all these unverified statistics and "experts say" and "people are saying" statements.

Boom, Tesla and many other car manufactures are fighting who is goingt o have their batteries first. CATL builds their factories all over the worls, USA included. Not without the reason. Lots of other examples .....Sam is good, only people dont understand because he talks what is going to be 2-3 years in the future. Remember gigacasting ????

@@renezirkel It takes 5 years to develop a chip. On their first try it makes sense to use a mature node. When Tesla was developing the D1 chip that node was 7N now in their second try it is reasonable for them to go full out and develop for the upcoming process node 18A. Tesla doesn't have multiple teams leapfrogging between process nodes and developing multiple product generations at the same time. Tesla has one chip development team and they can only develop chips one generation at a time. Also this is TSMC marketing their advance nodes so complain to them for being misleading.

Nvidia will have each year their top of the line data center AI chip that is 4x faster than previous year. That means by 2026 Nvidia top of the line chip will be 256x faster than H100. Ok, I have been an engineer for 30 years in the semiconductor industry.
If Tesla are using a chip 40x slower today than it will be using in 2 years time. The chip today must be dreadful.
As per Moore's law you expect a 2x increase every two years. As this is the expectation of the density of the transistors increase. This law has been steadfast for 60 years. This is the general throttle on CPU speed.
The manufacturer of the chip TMSC is scheduled to have a 2x increase in chip density by 2026. Tesla have nothing to do with the increase.
So either Tesla chip at the moment is a bag of shite or Tesla is lying.
I suspect it is both. Looking at the the present specs it is currently about 40% slower than Nvidia chip of a similar nature.
So expect a increase but never a 40x increase. So as usual tesla and Sam are lying.

Training needs a lot of CPU power.
That's how it works. If it uses tiles interconnected CPUs or a mixture of both. 40x won't happen as the physics won't let it happen.
Again unless Tesla present system is horrendous. Which is isn't, it's not cutting edge, it is middle of the road about 40% slower than Nvidia current setup..
