Remember, salt is also used to make saline solution for wound irrigation and honey is antimicrobial and can be used as a wound dressing.
Be careful using honey for wounds. (Manuka honey is best for that.) For a tiny scratch you are probably okay.
Hospitals use sterile honey. That way you won't get gangrene. It has happened on large wounds.
wild flower or Manuka is antibiotic
@@americafirst9144 i have a book called " herbal antibiotics" by Stephen Bohner and he says wild flower honey and manuka is best but it will always work for wounds.
Just an exemple : what quantaty of salt for how manny eggs ?
I must say I don't trust almost no one because I don't even see and know my nabours ! We say Hi and how are you but everyone stays on their place on their houses land.
And for the children and husban they see nothing or just don't want to.
I always thought it would be good to have jars of pressure canned water to use in emergency to clean wounds

8. Don’t barter “Willy Nilly”. Stay safe. Barter with a group. In a safe place. Keep your head on a swivel!
What about fats? They're essential nutrients. But they are difficult to keep, as they tend to turn rancid after a while. Canned fat? Oliver oil?
I trust no one around me so I will be on my own with my dog
I know the feeling, live in an apartment, my neighbors are needy, predatory, and criminal. Yep regular people these days.
Same. I live on 10 acres in a very desolate area.
Same here !
In times like these my Bible is my closest friend. Trust Yashua. Cry out to Him. Love Him🙏🏻
I have very few I can trust. My daughter, that's about it.
During hurricane, coffee was my greatest treat. My neighbor had it in thermos, omg, she was my savior.
Yes, look for thermoses at yard sales and thrift stores. The only Stanley worth buying! Get several.
OMG yes. We went thru a time where we had a bad ice storm and power was out for over a week. We had gas logs and a gas stove. My father in law would come every morning to get hot coffee and fill thermoses for the day. Never under estimate this!
Coffee is critical. During Hurricane Michael I was fine eating soup and chili at room temperature out of pop top cans. It didn’t faze me. But the first day I didn’t have coffee I felt so deprived. I am much better prepared now.
Caffeine headaches are the worst. Coffee and tea bags a must for us. We have extra decaf coffee and tea we don't want every cup to dehydrated us. Store extra water for coffee.

Especially since at least during the depression, families weren't strewn so far apart and more people knew how to grow their own food, etc.
I've not heard that.......to think all the illegal immigrants in Denver have a demand list for the Mayor including high quality food choices from their countries of origin. What is happening here?

Powdered Eggs, Powdered Milk, Old Fashioned Oat Meal, Tang, Bulion Cubes, Instant Potatoes, Coconut Oil, and Multi-Vitamins for your age group. Ramen Noodles have a bad reputation due to high salt content, but I use about 1/3 of the seasoning packet so that my BP stays normal. My go to spices are Garlic, Ginger, Turmeric, Ground Cinnamon, Lemon Pepper, Parsley Flakes and Barbecue Rub.
No ramen noodles get a bad rap because they are lacking in any nutrients and aren't actually noodles, they contain substances made to make styrofoam. They'll fill your belly but are worthless as a food.
As for alcohol,
It is ALSO good for sterilizing wounds, as a general cleaner, and as anesthetic!😊😊😊
And for tinctures.
Great items list. Also, if you have the space to plant trees, plant fruit trees. When planting a flowerbed, make it a tea and herb garden. Instead of expensive shrubs, plant blueberry bushes. Plant with purpose.
Jerusalem artichoke is called the war plant easy to grow during war and famine.

My husband has always been a barterer. Over a decade ago he bartered with the local vet to get our cat spayed in exchange for building a new handrail for the steps at the vet’s office. Lol
Great guy to have.😊
Brilliant!
I barter all the time, being poor means I have no extra $ but at 61 I can still work hard to get what I need. Bartered with a coworker (boss) who has a cattle ranch, he gave me mineral tubs and I share with him my veggies that I grow in those mineral tubs, going to see if I can barter chicken for some beef. I only have a acre so can’t raise my own beef

I must correct you regarding your comment in SUGAR, Jinny:
I live in the lower half of Michigan,
And we have an ABUNDANCE of sugar!
We plant SUGAR BEETS, and harvest them in the late summer.
You can't drive ANYWHERE--- country roads, city roads, or expessways,
Without seeing DOZENS of semis FULL TO THE TOP with SUGAR BEETS!😁😁🥰

Ironically I just posted on Canadian Preppers channel that Honey and Salt are going to be worth their weight in gold.
Then you come out with this vid elaborating on the whole concept. Love it!
Baking Soda? Has all types of uses.
Yes! And unlike baking powder, it can last forever if stored well.
Maple syrup 🍁
Molasses (make brown sugar)

My goal is 200 lbs of salt, 150 lbs of granulated sugar, and 75 gallons of honey. I have been buying lots of extra tobacco for trade. I am stocking up on instant coffee.

Good idea I will start that too.
I repackaged honey into smaller sanitized store jelly and honey jars. I didn't seal them should I redo them??? I have researched and found conflicting answers. 20 pounds honey repackaged and 2 five pounds jugs have not been opened. I repackaged these three weeks ago. Appreciate any help.

@@susieramick7202 I would fill the jars as full as possible so that no oxygen or water could get in and tighten the lids well. If honey can last for over 3,000 years in an Egyptian tomb then you should be ok for many decades.
I use a nonelectric cold drip coffee maker. You put ground coffee into the top. Pour water over it & let it seep for 12+ hours. Makes a concentrate that you add to hot water to make as ateong as you like. I make just enough for 3 days. Taste FRESH & beats instant coffee.
WalMart has Great Value cocoa that cost 2/3's less than other brands. That's all that I use.
$Tree has shelf milk that's fantastic. Last for years without needing refrig until you open it. I lived in Germany & that's all they carried.
These are great suggestions....thanks Vicki !!
Seeds, salt, sweeteners, honey, alcohol, instant coffee, cocoa powder
Sugar beets are grown up in Midwest States specifically to make sugar.
make sure its not that junk honey from the store, get wild flower organic honey, and Manuka honey
Everytime we go to Costco, we pick up a jar of Manuka honey so we have it. We buy the high number ones for wounds and illnesses. And the lower numbers for teas, lemonade, hibiscus tea, chamomile tea, ginger root tea. I get regular organic raw honey as well that's stored in 5 pound glass jars. This year will be our first year that we have bee hives. On our acreage, we have never use chemicals at all. Without bees, we won't exist.

fry bread is delicious and quick to make. You need oil, flour, salt, baking powder and hot water. You can flavor sweet or savory.
I was thinking biscuits till you said "hot water" then, I knew you were talking tortillas 😊. Yea!!

Walmart the biggest retail store in Las Cruces New Mexico in the United States has self check out they have 16 , individual stations. Three offer cash. My credit union no longer carries coins. You can use the coin machine to deposit coins into money to go into your account. But you cannot ask the clerk for coins because they have no coins available. This is extremely disturbing to me. So any time I have to pay $1.07 for something, I give them two dollars because I need those $.93. People say they won’t be worth anything but they will be coins are always worth something. And if you’re going to have silver and gold make sure that they are in grams/and percents. Nothing more than 1 gm or whoever you are bartering with will know that you are hiding more gold someplace You’re absolutely 100% right that world is starting to go cashless. Don't forget, if you don't drink your coffee black, you need extra cream substitutes and sugar!!
We’ve found that canned condensed milk tastes like half and half cream.
What will really hurt a lot of people is where they live. So many live in apartments and trailor parks. Even with your own house it can be tough too. Small homes, yards on streets that have lots of rentals properties, but what fits in our homes may not last long because of space or getting robbed. I grew up in an area that felt much safer, but being married for almost 47 years in town, will be so different. Our parents would be in shock to see how things have changed. Trust will be a big deal also to lots of folks. I just hope and pray for God's safety to my loved ones during the worst of times. I pray for our nation and we better get it right this time. 🙏 Be safe! Deme in Bama 😊

I used to be addicted to caffeine until I was about 38 now 59, diet pepsi was my fix Lol. Have only had caffeine on occasion 2-3x a month. I drink only water now everything else is too expensive.
Exactly. Water is free through the tap. Got rent, electricity, and other stuff to worry about with money.
The thing with a garden is, assuming you have the space, how do you stop others from taking all of your hard work if you aren’t there 24/7 to protect it?
My concern too!
My friend daughter had a big garden and it was constantly being raided. And that’s last year
@@user-zy9mp9bk5m I thought so. Not good. I just hope they can stay safe
Situational awareness. If the crops are important enough you will invest the time to guard them. Noisey boobie traps would be a starting place and then there are the shotgun shells loaded with rock salt. Then you might avoid the most obvious and popular plants like, tomatoes, corn and watermelon. Plant the less visable, potatoes, carrots, peanuts or the less popular like egg plant, brussel sprouts ect.
Gaurd/livestock dogs, noisy boobie traps, electric fencing, shotgun/pistol, solar powered motion lights, game camera with alarms just to name a few.
Magnesium supplements for stress and anxiety!! 😫
They also help with headaches and stomach problems
Chamomile tea is also good for anxiety & helps you sleep
Lots of people are deficient in magnesium. Around 50%. Very important mineral.
Iodized salt loses iodine after being open a year but pink salt doesn’t go bad
Pink salt has iodine? If so, I will stock up on it!
@@chesterricherson3565 no, pink salt has 200 other minerals so I’ve heard, but I’ve stocked both in case
I have learned to eat and drink some non preferred things, such as instant coffee. If I am in dire straits, I want my food choices to be somewhat satisfying. Stock up on the things that you like. Keep your stock rotated.
Popcorn ,you can grind it up and use for flour for making a corn bread etc.
French press coffee or a simple pour over are IMO much better than instant.
We have several stainless steal pourovers, no paper filters required. We also have several solar kettles that can boil 3 cups of water in the sun in less than 30 minutes. It will keep the water hot for 12 hours. We invested in several stainless steel double walled thermos. Keeps things hot for 12 hours and ice cold for nearly 24 hours. The solar kettles can be used to make hard boiled eggs, boil hot dogs, boil veggies, boil soups or instant broths. They will help in an shtf situation.
Bartering alcohol is not a good idea. Same for ammo, don’t do it unless you know the people very well. Because when the alcoholics run out of stuff to trade with, they will be back to take or steal your bottles. Keep everything hidden and appear destitute.
ABSOLUTELY!
Tea is getting harder to find.
So true.
What type of tea?
@@fernandobarrera3899 Most teas.

Herbal teas can be grown at home. Chamomile, Mint, Lavender, Rosebuds, Lemon Verbena, Lemon Balm, Rosemary, there many herbs you can grow at home to make tea.
I am a notorious seed saver! I make sure to let different veggies go to seed so that I can collect them. Seeds have gotten a lot more expensive, especially this year, and most importantly, I’ll have them in case they’re unavailable to buy.
Be sure to buy HEIRLOOM seeds, these will grow "true" year after year...
Must have chocolate!🍫
In addition, rice, dry beans, flour, cornmeal, tomato sauce/paste, & cooking oil are all basic staples that will keep for long periods for you or as barter items. Coffee will definitely make you friends & comes in vacuum sealed bricks which last a long time. The coffee can be used & replaced with fresher packs whenever getting closer to an expiration date.
Tomato products and pineapple can eat through the cans after quite a while, (speaking from experience 😁). So place something like a plastic bag under these cans and check on them every 6 months or so so you don't have a big mess.
As long as it’s in its raw form, honey does not go bad.
If harvested too early, it can. Bees have not gotten enough water out of it yet.
herbs and spices for medicine and the books and skills of how to use them and what they are for. Especially as antibiotics.
Over the years we invested in books for fixing things, how to's/diy's, gardening, herbs, wild plants, tinctures, a detailed color photo book on identifying mushrooms. We actually grow our own now and freeze dry them for the future. There won't be internet, so books will be our fallback. Notebooks and binders for printed out recipes for cooking and medicinals.

Along with alcohol, some people suggest cigarettes 🚬. People who drink or smoke regularly don't do well if they siddenly can't get them. DTs are not fun. Nicotine withdrawal isn't as bad physically, but smokers will have a rough time, too.
Seeds, salt, sweeteners, honey, alcohol, instant coffee, Cocoa 😊
Thank you. I was just deciding things I want to add more of to my pantry. I definitely have all of these on my list. My biggest problem is that I really use all of these items and seem to have trouble ever having extras. I've tried to cut down on making home made Kahlua but I really love it and real Kahlua has jumped so high I can't afford it.
Any of us could die tomorrow. Enjoy your kaluah!
You look so cute in that pink hat. Love your channel. I stopped wearing caps since I retired from the military.
My gastroenterologist said to stay away from 3 of the items on the list:
; coffee, alcohol and chocolate, so they would be very good barter items for me. One drawback is that these items would be too great a temptation to have around.
That's a Great list Jinne. 👍
TFS HC, take care & keep really busy everyone. ❤️🙂🐶
The problem with having seeds is that when someone uses it then the seeds requires sufficient space. Space is not an asset that many people have. Regarding myself currently I only have a little bit of space to grow, so I don't have the luxury like you do to have a variety of seeds, and to use it to grow food.
I been trying to grow 1 type of food, and I had some bad results after my seeds germinated, but I am still trying to grow, and I think eventually I will succeed.
Space, and time are two issues that people should consider before growing any type of food. The food that I have chosen to grow requires little bit of space, but a lot of time to learn how to grow. Lastly the last thing I learned about growing food is how easy it is to kill a plant. I think it could be anyone's intent to grow food, and without properly understanding to grow then what can happen is people could end up having dead plants!
My seeds started out really good this year, but I didn't have anyone water them while I was away for a weekend and lost nearly everything. I ended up going to Atwoods and buying starter plants. I have a limited amount of space, but still pick up seeds, and hoping for a bigger area in the near future.
My property is 1/2-3/4 acre and if things go sideways, makes sense having more garden (food) than grass. Besides, less damn mowing, lol 😂
Your PH can be a specific number depending on what you are growing. Always start with the PH ..
@@Bloodhoundjed1Plants can be left in your bathtub with an inch of water in the bottom of the bathtub. Clay pots will suck up the water.
Growing vegetables is not as simple as most people think it is, you will lose faith in it if you don't study and learn as much as you can before you start...get some books, talk to people, take written notes, then...DO IT...

Good video, thanks for sharing YAH bless !
Good morning have a good day.
Rice and all purpose flour would be on my list.
We have a salt mine about 2 hours away from us
sugar beets can be grown pretty far north.
They sure can.
They are grown by the tons in northwest Minnesota and northeast North Dakota.
And this is the coldest longest winter part of the United. States
I think sugar should be looked at under "vices" category, as most people in US are addicted to it & it is put in everything these days.
Also, with alcohols, consider sticking ones thst would be good for making tinctures & medicinal remedies as that will make it more valuable & useful even to those who don't drink.
Very well presented video. You made an excellent point Jinne that we often like foods that are not possible to grow where we live. For example coffee, tea, coconut, etc are things we really enjoy but are grown and harvested thousands of miles from us. Growing garden vegetables is very important but look at how many other things you don’t grow yourself and try to keep those available for your use.
Great video!
Thanks Jinne
Great list of very valuable items to stock up in our pantries. Some of these items can be used for many different things. Thanks for sharing your informative videos with us, I enjoy learning and getting other's ideas and tips on preparedness for anything that could happen in this crazy world.
It looks like it's going to get REALLY BAD, and then it's going to get WORSE...be ready, folks, for ANYTHING...
I’ll be prepping for myself and my family. For me, I don’t see a reason to barter. If everything was to collapse, I wouldn’t need services such as a plumber, electrician, or a mechanic. I figure none of that will matter when it comes to the grid going down. 😅🤪
Thank you for the helpful information!
Sugarcane, sorghum & sugar beets are all reliable sources of sweeteners.
Sorghum is a true grain. It can be grown for the sweet sap from the canes or it can be grown for its seeds that can be used as a cereal grain & cooked like rice & barley, or ground like wheat for flour. It also makes a good silage for livestock. It is also known as milo.
Another thing: ALL beets can make a sweet syrup that can be used like honey or crystallized into sugar. Most growers prefer the white sugar beet because it is a great deal larger than standard beets, produces a lighter color syrup & has a milder flavor than standard beets.
Sugarcane can be used to make rum.
In regard to barter, buy tobacco seeds. Grow the tobacco for trade or trade the seeds to a grower.
It's true that vices don't disappear during hard times. Frequently, they actually get worse. If you have the wherewithal to grow something that has a high intrinsic value, then go ahead. Tobacco, sugarcane & 'hemp' are high value commodities that would be easy to barter or sell.
Another thing that I would grow would be camellia sinensis. Tea. People here in the states have been growing camellias as an ornamental flower forever, not knowing that it is the true tea plant...
There are LOTS of so-called ornamental plants that are edible foods. Do some research or ask someone who knows.
Smart choices.
Good video. Thank you ❤
Good one!
Hi Jinne, lately I've been concentrating on honey. I have taken to putting it in my coffee. I've heard of putting it in tea. But it really mellows coffee. I already have plenty of rice. I'm not a big alcohol drinker, but I do have some stored.
Good list
Great info. Thank you for sharing.
Rice, sugar, coffee, cooking oil, canned food.
Especially canned fish...

Honey will go bad if its harvested too early and the water content is too high. I had a kilo of organic honey from 2020 that i recently opened and it was fermented. Didnt go to waste though, i watered it down and added to compost.
It could be made into MEAD, research this...don't drink very much of this, it will cause a hangover that is almost UNBELIEVABLE!!
something I never hear anyone mention is oil. We can grow a lot of things but extracting oil from plants for cooking, preserving and oil lamps.(I grow peanuts as a groundcover- oil in the ground) Alcohol can be made from anything. Vinegar is oxidised alcohol, not hard to make. Salt, sugar, oil, vinegar the basics for any preserving. What was sold at trade stores 150 years ago?

How can we know if what we barder is the good proportion face to what's offer ? I would really appreciate some exemples if possible . Thank you 😊
It really depends on the situation, and the scarcity of certain things...
I have never ever tasted instant coffee. It smells awful just like decaffeinated coffee stinks too. I suppose when SHTF I’ll lower my standards and iplan to keep plenty of tea on hand for caffeine
Suck it up buttercup! JJ
We have been brewing our own coffee, and freeze drying it. Comes out as if we fresh brewed it that day. We have a freeze dryer for 8 years and have tested out plenty of recipes and found what we enjoy and have freeze dried for future uses. We also freeze dry home made dog food for our furbabies.
Don't stress about sugar because we can grow sugar beets. Our substitute for maple syrup or honey.
Question: if there’s a vinegar shortage can vodka or some alcohol be used to sterilize canning jar tops? Also, can vodka or alcohol be used to sterilize water instead of a few drops of bleach?
Dried milk, boxed or canned milks
Sweetened condensed milk in stock for recipes and for coffee.

I have thought to myself for years that seeds will be worth their weight in gold..lol..then you mention it. Thanks..I do make ass kicking dandelion wine which is why I’m picking dandelions every single day..
How do u make that??
We have water distillers as well. Total, can distill 40 gallons per day. I figured if water will get contaminated (for whatever reason), we can at least filter it with our Berkey (wr have 4+ year supply of filters), then distill it so we know it's clean water. For cooking, drinking, all of our animals, and to water our potted veggies. Currently we are saving the water from our dehumidifiers and storing it jn 5 gallon food Safe buckets, stacked 3 high against the walls of the garages. We rotate and use them.
