That’s a masterpiece of a lens 🔥🔥
Thanks!
wOw! actually quite smaller than i expected, helpful vid 👍
Thank YOU!
Hi Ken, great presentation and a modern looking lens. I liked the way Canon packed the lens to make its safe journey to you Ken. Nice case that goes with it, and photographers of all levels will enjoy this lens. Thanks Ken 😊
Thank you!
Your welcome Ken 😊
What kind of customizing do you need? Well, the lens bounces around inside the case unless you place the lens collar support inside the case. Consider using it :)
Thanks!
That focal length and aperture make so much sense.
Yes! Thanks.
That's what I'd call a lens! Looking forward to the actual review 😉
Actual review is here www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/lenses/100-300mm.htm
Fantastic
Groovy!
Looks great, maybe my lottery numbers will drop soon 😉
You know it’s coming! Thanks!
I am curious. Would you ever do a video on your full collection of Lenses? You seem to have many. I have over 100. How many do you have Ken?
Beats me! Just a few, the rest I get rid of fast to make room for the rest. I review hundreds, and have gotten rid of almost all of them.
@@KenRockwellTV I get that. Maybe do a "my favorite lenses of all time" video?
Wow! What an amazing piece of equipment! But honestly, for that kind of money I‘d expect nothing but purest excellence from either Canon or Nikon. If this thing would feel cheap in any oh so little way, I‘d be very disappointed. I am so looking forward to see some pictures you‘re going to take with this! :) Godspeed!
Full review with images at www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/lenses/100-300mm.htm Thanks!
I imagine I’m not the only jealous viewer, lol. Enjoy your new toy Ken, look forward to the review though I imagine it’s going to be pretty much perfect! Cheers.
The full review is done and the link is in my description www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/lenses/100-300mm.htm Thanks!
What did you shoot this video on?
It’s all explained in the descripton: iPhone 15 pro max www.kenrockwell.com/apple/iphone-15-pro-max.htm and the audio was with special pro mics (links in the video description) using a special technique and a separate recorder to render all the handling sounds in glorious 4D stereo. Thanks!
As the there is some space behind he back element, it seems they could also have offered that lens fro the EF mount, but they did not. That is very annoying, because the RF version can only be used with RF cameras, while the EF version could have been used for cameras from several brands with an adapter. That is annoying for such an expensive lens. I think lenses like that should come with a built-in EF to RF adapter where the silver ring is now.
I don't believe that's actually possible. The optics wouldn't work because the sensor has to be much closer to work with an RF lens and the mirror box would be in the way on a DSLR.
@@IlyaBlay My idea was that you could unmount the adapter, if you want to use the lens on a DSLR.
@@skyscraperfan So you're talking about essentially an EF lens with a removable EF/RF adapter? That would be way bigger, but if you want that, you can just get an EF lens and an EF/RF adapter, no? That exists.
Good point and it probably could be done, but DSLRs have been obsolete for years and no resources have been expended on developing them in favor of developing more and better RF gear.
But why though? No manufacturer is making lenses for DSLR's anymore. DSLR is dead. They're stlil good cameras, but mirrorless was the future and it's been here for the last 4 years or so now. Canon has mentioned years ago that they stopped their R&D into EF with the release of the R5 and R6.

A true classic! Thanks!
Maybe if I'm good, my wife will let me get one!
Oh, she will! See www.kenrockwell.com/tech/wife.htm
No arca swiss cut in the foot for that much cash lol..
Waaaah! Thanks!
So... much... packaging!
To ensure it gets there safely. Thanks!
A real lens cap rather than one of those dumb leather cover, nice!
Yes! Thanks!

Tough. I’m secondary; listen to the stereo effects of everything being handled.
Rockwell, I thought you were above these mined numbing "unpacking" videos. Come on dude, I expect better from you!!
I am, but this is just CZcams. You ought to see the rubbish they gets millions of views! But honestly I just shot a review video today after I wrote my written review at www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/lenses/100-300mm.htm. This unboxing was a month ago and I have to write the review before I can shoot a video of it. Thanks!
