Truly elegant voicing that surprises the ear. Mr.Redman can be justly proud of this creation.
This is a very good example of the classic voicing used in "Modern Baroque" organs like Flentrop, Marcussen, etc.
Saint Louis Abbey also has a two manual tracker organ similar to the Redman organ..

lovely organ
A very impressive installation with a well-thought-out and useful stoplist. A really lovely-sounding organ; beautifully scaled and voiced, and very appealing to the ears (and eyes).
Too bad that a 16' Principal isn't available in the Pedal as this would have provided a better foundation (considering the GT 16' Holzquintade, plus all the manual and Pedal mixture ranks) than a Bourdon alone.
many years ago I remember this organ when it was being installed back on 73
I played this organ 45 years ago when it was in the smaller room. I do not know if this is still the case, but the Great 8’ Principal was double-ranked for most if not all of its compass. In the more resonant room, Principals 8, 4 and 2-2/3 ft. work very well because if, as I surmise, the 8’ is double-ranked, you get a third (acoustic) 8’ via the combination of the octave and twelfth. This is one of Roy Redman’s finest instruments. The room really finishes the organ.
You are correct, the Great 8' Principal is doubled from middle c up. This is unusual in American organs but lends a great deal of warmth to the stop.
Nice job!!!!
Lovely voicing reminds me a lot of the 1989 Schantz/Moeller/E.M. Skinner/Haskell/Fegelmaker at my church.
There is an 8' Vox Humana in the Great and a 4' Shalmey in the Pedal that I would've liked to have heard. Not sure why they didn't try those stops.
Those stops were in the original spec, but were replaced when the organ was moved to the current sanctuary in 2006. The Vox was replaced with a 16' Trompete in the Great; the pedal Shalmey was replaced with an 8' Trompette.
nice organ, I'll have to check it out when I'm in Dallas again, too bad the church looks like an auditorium or lecture hall without the tables for computers/books
When the organs are played, the volume sometimes drops so much, I don’t feel like we’re hearing the true sound of the instrument in some of your recordings. I really enjoy the quality of your videos but sometimes we aren’t hearing the organs as they “really sound” in the space.
Too much volume on the talking compared to the organ volume. Nice sound on the organ though.
I agree!
