Nice review mate. I have the previous version of this (SN0005-GMT-2) with the Hangzhou 6460 movement, which I still love.
thanks man. it's a great looking watch for sure. glad to see/hear your's is till holding up well.
Very good review! Just ordered one from SM, sale was on and with by a discount code it was $250.
Thanks for the wonderful in depth review. Just got the one with the BGW-9 lume as I have C3 in my collection. Looking forward to getting it as your video shows its a amazing piece, especially for the price. Have the original seiko 5 gmt-orange dial, solid reliable movement, so this is a definite upgrade!
Such fast shipping too. Have only had it for a few hours but amazing timepiece! Beats Tudor and the upgrades they should have made with theirs for $5k+. Aluminum bezel and how thick/heavy it was, a deterrent for me, especially at that price. And I know far superior movement but at a little less than 10% of its retail value. Again, thanks for the review and inspiring me to getting this watch. Love it! All the best! Cheers!
hey man thanks for trying out straps thats something most reviewers dont do now i know i want to get a black rubber strap with it !
It's good that there's more variety in these vintage GMTs with plexi bezels now, but I'm waiting with bated breath for the Lorier restock.
I’m NOT one of those anti Rolex guys, but the GMT Master II is the only Rolex I really like so this is the only Homage of a Rolex I would buy and of course it’s executed brilliantly. I would however get the white markers. Thanks for the great review as always.
Yeah, of I had my pick I may have gone with the white dial applied indices.
my biggest problem with that (and similar) dial is the fact that Chinese struggle to colour-match... that's not how yellow patina looks like. It should be faded, dull even. Not bright yellow.
Agreed. San Martin really turns the saturation to 11, when like a 4 would be perfect.
agree..less than half fake patina would be great
The Lume on the hands could be better and 39 mm diameter for more vintage vibes.
That's way too small
Yeah, the hands faded way too fast.
I have the previous hangzhou movement version (white dial/applied indices) but I would prefer having the NH34 movement. Great review!
Thank you! Sounds like it's time to upgrade 😉😂
Beautiful watch ❤
I'm a big guy with large wrists and yet I agree with you the dimensions could be just a little more refined it would be nice if it was closer to a 6542.
Great looking watch and great review. Comparison with the Lorier would be awesome.
Thank you. The Lorier is Soooo much smaller...lol. quality between the 2 is pretty even, bracelet seems more solid on the San Martin, bezel is nicer on the Lorier. I still really feel like the Lorier is a great vintage looking GMT in the proper vintage size.
@@EscapeWheel Well that's probably because it is 😂 Thanks for quick comparison 🙂👍
Awesome 😎👍👍👍
They altered it. The bezel is taller and wider now, and the rehaut is noticeably deeper. Also the indices are bigger now. I think the previous Hangzhou one is better looking, imo.
I think the dial would've been perfect if they used the cursive San Martin logo
That would look nice...not sure they are using that logo anymore though. Strictly the normal text or this hex.
id rather see the normal text applied for this version lol @@EscapeWheel
I would love this in a 39mm/47mm lug to lug, if they used the SN0121 case then it would be perfect
Nice watch.
Can we get San Martin to release the bracelet alone? The current one they sell is for only two models in the catalog, so incompatible with SN004 based cases like this one.
This isn't sn004 based sadly. Would be a near perfect vintage GMT if it were
It's a good looking watch but as has been said the colour of the lume is a spoiler. That's putting me off it. Thanks for the review, by the way.
How does this compare to the cronos gmt and which do you prefer?
Bigger, yet more solid feeling in the bracelet and clasp. Bezels are similar. This one wears bigger. Cronos has better lume
Love my cronos but have an issue with the adjustability of the clasp, as you know
The only thing I dont like is the $320 price. That would fit perfectly on my 8 inch wrist. Why don't you send me that watch and I'll try it for a while? The bezel has a vintage look. I like it.
Contact me, maybe we can work out a price you'd be more comfortable with.
Agreed!
@@EscapeWheelcan you get this from SM discounted?
@Atlas_Max11 they do give me discounts on watches, but since I reviewed this one already I doubt they would give me another one.
I’ll wait till they will eventually upgrade that ugly logo.
The logo is a disaster. The earlier ones said San martin and looked classy. I have the SN005 GMT with the ivory dial. absolutely stunning and superb timekeeping but I absolutely hate the logo
everyone does, i have the ivory one two. its stunning but logo still makes me heave
I’d be happy with a really elegant “SM” logo. Just like the Grand Seiko. San Martin’s logo looks like an old 1980s graffiti under a bridge wall
