I pick up a san martin gmt as a beater watch also, so l won't damage my JLC or my AP, l was impressed with the fit and finish of the san martin, its crazy that l baby it just like my other fine watches, for 300 dollars there fit and finish compares to watches around the 1500 dollar range 😎

I apply the same rationale as you do and as such, I own a few San Martins as well. I can honestly say that they are very impressive and compare favourably to the quality of some of my more expensive pieces. That particular watch looks very nice.
I bought this one because the dial looked "whiter" on Amazon, it ended up being a silverish/champagne color, which isn't my favorite, should've seen this video before buying it.

Ive just received this exact watch id rather the bezel was ceramic but the tudor that its based off isnt ceramic either.I prefer it being 39mm and thinner than the tudor.
the best watch in this price range. ich had the one with the black dial and I love this watch!!! the caliber just goes -2sec/day that's absolutely crazy and characteristics watches from 3000-4000$. its luxury quality under 500 bucks
The reality is that no one cares about what you wear. I have had Rolexes. Blancpain. Iwc. Cartier. Oris and lots of homages. No one has ever said to me, " dude that's a nice watch." The only person that cares is you. Buy and wear whatever you like. No one gives a shit at what you have on your wrist.

I have the black dial version of that san martin and the bracelet actually feels a bit sharp on wrist. I also have the Tudor Black Bay chrono and it’s silky smooth. Obviously a lot more accurate, too. About +1spd. But the san martin is very well made for the price!
great looking, I wish it were bigger like the Tudor at 41mm. You don't have to make excuses for buying the San Martin, there's so much fat added to the prices of Rolex, Tudor. etc to pay for their marketing and promotion costs. Could I afford Rolex and Tudor? Easily, but I'd rather buy the SM and use the rest to buy more Apple stock and Contrafund.
Lume on these things is something else. I have the black dial version and it's probably the best lume on any watch I've ever owned or still own. Its lume is better by far than on any of the Steinharts I've ever owned and it's better than the one on my Christopher Ward C63. The only other watch I currently own that comes close is my Cronos Maxi-Case Sub homage. And from what I understand, other SM-models have even better lume than the 0109.
The thing that sold me on this one however was the bezel insert. I usually don't prefer Pepsi aluminium GMT-inserts because I don't like the more washed-out blue and red you normally get on these - but the colors on this SM look *so* much better. Yes, yes... they didn't come up with that colorway themselves, but given the price difference between the 0109 and the BB GMT, I don't really care. Plus the original wouldn't work on my wrist anyway since it's larger both in diameter and in height. The SM is nice and flat and works perfectly on my puny 17cm/6.7in wrist.
Well said buddy. Even though it’s a “Chinese” homage. The watch is top notch quality in every aspect. The movement isn’t Swiss quality but on the outside it’s probably better than the Tudor. Lume is better than the Tudor. And the bracelet is better. The newer version has the glide lock in the clasp as well.
