André, we haven't heard anything lately so being a mother and grandmother I am checking on your well being.
Had a very frustrating morning, sat down to eat, decided to see if anything good on CZcams (but didn’t expect much), and there’s a video from André! Like a cool refreshing breeze. Just what I needed. The click when you fit in the curved plywood was so satisfying, especially after you had to keep re-steaming it.

You are a genius, Andre. I can't believe that worked so well. Who in the world ever thought up a half round doorway? Thank goodness for "bendy" wood. You did a wonderful job. Recently I saw a video, a lady doing the same job. She drained the wood in water in a bathtub for about an hour.
I loved watching your method too. 😊
I thought about the same - unfortunately we don't have bathtub, just a shower.. and a lake.. ;-)

Good job on the curve! Looks nice, but I agree white paint might look a wee bit better. There's something for a cold winter's afternoon project.

I think the super tightness on the arch was due to the thickness of the plywood vs the tape. On the inside of the arch it would be a little less distance. Just a little. Looks great. Love your hard work

I sure enjoy your program. Solid presentation with perfect choice of music in the background. A1
nice job. When I was a house-painter we used Glazier's putty(for window edges) putty to fill nail holes, etc before painting. Easy to work with. I think the door frame would look very good if you used it in between all of the wood trim pieces especially the archway, and a nice coat of paint to match the doors. Thanks!

My dad covered arches in our house by scoring the back side of the wood in various intervals to make the wood flexible. Your arched door way turned out beautifully.

U could stain those bricks in the living room they need refreshing.......the bricks look old and tired and dirty......refresh them with a white wash or something ...please 👍🏽

Dressmaker's measuring tape. Walk it along the curve. Or, walk a string along the curve, then measure the length of string on your yard stick.

I remember when I was in 2nd grade, we were taught how to measure contours and curves with string, but gravity isn't exactly your friend in this case, so using tape was brilliant.
As for the arch, I would have just cut the panel into about 2" or about 5cm strips and just layed them inside the arch beside each other. The cutting would be more work, but that's no problem when you setup a block along the chopsaw fence so that they all cut equally.
Speedy recovery! Good on you for figuring out the arch. In future, sand the treated wood. If former finish is removed beforehand next finish should adhere/perform to expectations. ❤🎉😊

I am sat in bed with this new version of Covid so watching your episodes was so nice for me. The bedroom and bathroom look fabulous and the white stain on the pine was the perfect choice. Yeah, it needs some paint and maybe some caulk in the seam between the bent wood and the upright wood. I loved your method for bending wood! Where there’s a will, there’s a way! Great job!❤️🐝🤗

Covering the arch was really great, I myself have used the “tape” measure method on inside measurements and it works very well.

Nice job! If you want to hide all those seams, just rub a little latex acrylic caulk into them before you paint.

Hi, ich möchte mich herzlichst bei dir bedanken! Im Nobember 2020 lag meine Frau zur Entbindung unseres ersten Kindes m Krankenhaus. Ich durfte aufgrund Corona nicht dabei sein. Es war ein tagelanges Martyrium mit Komplikationen. Die Hölle! Da ich nicht ständig mit ihr telefonieren konnte, habe ich mir deine Folgen angeschaut, um mich abzulenken. Das hat sehr geholfen und ich möchte mich dafür bedanken! Gruß aus Polen.

Stay safe and stay healthy your own selves, our friends. It was a marvel to see how you created the steam chamber and finaggled til it worked. I restored a stone historical Italianate Villa with a curved arched entrance and the next door to the hall . I could see how the one piece of pretty thick wood was cut almost like fabric to pleat the curve into this rounded bent shape. Hard to explain and several years ago, but realized it was not steam bent but very dramatic on the 12 foot ceilinged space. Thank you for your lesson in reasoning and patience. Feel better.
The plywood was really tight because it expanded when it got wet. When it dries it will shrink back up some.

You should sand it before painting. Also some woodfiller to fix the little gaps.
And finally i would put some finishing nails to make sure the arch stsys there.

Andre, the archway looks lovely. You are right. You can paint it white later. We had a bigger archway between our kitchen and living room growing up. I remember my dad saying how hard it was to make.
