  • The Deshaun Watson situation is so strange. Grand Jury not indicting, but more and more accusations and civil suits coming. Are we going to see Watson get a suspension from the NFL?

I wasn't there and I don't know what happened but I do know that IF you were to try to pull a scam on a wealthy person, this is literally how you do it. It HAS to be lots of accusers because everyone would dismiss it if it was just one or two. As hard as it is for some people to believe, it really is possible to get this many women to lie together for money....we live in a sick world.
THis is why uber wealthy people hire teams of lawyers. The entire goal of some of these scams is to frustrate the rich person so much and have them spend so much time and resources fighting every claim until its not worth it anymore. To put them in a situation where its cheaper and easier to just settle out of court and pay them six figures and send them on their way. With what we just saw with Johnny Depp, I'm surprised more people aren't acknowledging this especially Pat. He’s selling out.
This could really be all false...and what’s gonna happen to all these media talking heads afterwards? Nothing. On to the next trending topic.

I’m sure Watson is banged up worse than I am, he’s a shrimp. Once a week massage just isn’t enough. Bad weeks you’d want once a day, if you can afford it. (And some injuries massage therapy is almost the only thing that helps. Massage and water therapy.)
I’d rather stay with someone good that I like. And getting along with them does matter, right after massage skill. But that’s impossible for a normal guy, availability issues. How it works for a multi-millionaire, though, I can’t say.
I DO know most of the “oooh” and “aaah” over the number of massages is just ignorance. That’s really not a problem. Number of different masseuses, again not sure but could easily be availability. It’s the solicitation. (Even there though, lots of ignorant comments. “He wuz NEKKID!” duh, ya, that’s how it works.)

It HAS to be lots of accusers because everyone would dismiss it if it was just one or two. Even if they dont have evidence, the fact that there's so many accusers makes him guilty in people's minds. Thats the point of some of these scams, to get a wealthy person frustrated and using up lots of his resources fighting so many claims until its literally not worth it. When you're uber wealthy, its easier to just settle out of court, give up a 6figure paycheck and send them on their way. This is why the uber rich have teams of lawyers. They literally don't have the time to deal with all the bs thrown their way.

But the man is good at heart and gives his 100% to his team, family, and community. For the Browns to sign someone with the flawed and awful moral character of Watson is honestly enough for me to not watch this year. The franchise cares much more about wins and losses than it does about character and it’s sad to see. Even more concerning are those in my community who are defending Watson through this, despite him having zero loyalty to Cleveland. Just goes to show how MOST people truly only care about wins and losses. Says a lot about the state of sports in our society and communities.

I'm from Houston and I'm very familiar with this hotel...it's a giant fitness and health club with a hotel attached to it. They have all sorts of fitness and spa facilities, and I think they even have physio type rehab training space too. For a player recovering from an injury, it is a perfect place to do light recovery workouts and receive treatment all in the same place. So if you're doing a couple rehab sessions a day with massages and trainer time in between it would be the perfect place to do that sort of thing. Similarly if a star player wants to get a couple days of really focused recovery after a game, it would be a good place to do it. With that in mind, it makes total sense the team would have a standing room order for players wanting to use that facility to rest and recover from injuries/games. That whole side of this latest drama is a non-starter for me, at least on face.

People say if he did it why didn’t he victimize all 66 women? Answer is because that’s not how a predator works. They don’t victimize everyone…they groom, they perfect their “skills” to know what to look for in a situation/perspective victim. They “test” the waters to see if someone will be an easy victim that they can control and manipulate before they victimize a person. Did he do this? Only he, God and these women know for sure. But this whole situation has been such a fiasco… I hope that Chubb goes for 10,000 rushing yards this season but I hope the Browns lose every single game until Baker retires from the NFL.
I just can’t believe they actually did their “deep investigation” and didn’t say “ehh… we may not believe in Baker long term but let’s give him the final year of his contract - get him healthy and see if we can get a 2020 level performance… and then chase a guy from this upcoming rookie class”

Couple of thoughts / curiosities; (1) We know that the Dolphins wanted all the cases settled before they'd give him a contract. Did the Saint's want the same? If so, that explains why (aside from the money) the Browns were the "team" Watson went with because IMO, I can't see him wanting to go to a cold weather team - dudes from GA and played college ball in SC. (2) Did the Texans tell the Browns that they'd given Watson a blank NDA AFTER they'd been told that a woman had reached out to him via IG and threatened to "out" him for his behavior. (3) Did the Texans tell the Browns that they'd given Watson the use of a hotel room? Thing is, the Texans behavior seems to meet the bar for actual and or constructive knowledge regarding Watson's behavior has been met otherwise, why give him an NDA if your the Texans (unless your don't want to keep your franchise QB out of trouble). If the Texans didn't tell the Browns about the NDA, could that meet the bar for bad faith negotiations considering everyone knew what Watson had been accused of. I think the NFL is going to have to step in at this stage and truly look at undoing the contract and considering how long he'll need to sit out.

The NFLPA has collectively bargained the "personal conduct policy" which IS NOT the same as being convicted in court and basically the NFL can and does legally and rightfully suspend "in the best interest of the league". Whether or not he is guilty of anything is somewhat arbitrary. Can you imagine the public outrage if he isn't given a substantial suspension after 24 accusers come forward with sexual harassment charges? Further, what if they give him 6-8 games and then a year from now a couple more accusers come up? How foolish would the NFL look then? This also makes no mention of the absolutely dumbfounding move of the Browns to give the guy a $230M fully guaranteed contract which NFL owners are furious about or the way he structured his deal to basically not get fined. To me, all signs point to a hammer coming down on Watson - full year suspension with open ended option for NFL to suspend in 2023 as well if they see fit. The only people that benefit from anything less are one team, the Browns, and Watson whose character is so great he jettisoned the Texans mere months after signing a 4 year/$160M contract extension and has 24 sexual assault accusers. There is simply no incentive for the NFL to do anything other than HAMMER Watson and now by extension the Browns. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets suspended all of 2022 and then as things hopefully "wrap up" by next spring he is given a partial season ban in 2023 like 4-6 more games to get some of that huge 2023 salary back.

4 games should be the limit. Anything more should be appealed in light of the fact that: 1) The evidence that the Texans knew what was going on and provided the NDAs to Watson to have the Plaintiffs sign 2) Robert Kraft, a NFL team owner, was criminally charged for solicitation in a massage parlor for which there was video evidence of his crimes, yet he was not even fined by the NFL 3) Big Ben was accused of sexual assault involving force in a night club bathroom while his body guard stood outside of the bathroom door to prevent someone from entering; settled the cases, was originally suspended for 6 games but an arbitrator reduced it to 4; and most important, DeShaun is contesting these claims.

He should never play another down in the NFL…and for the Browns they will get exactly what they deserved for trading for him.

8:16 it's not that elaborate. Texans owner is friends with the lawyer. Lawyer pays off girls to come forward. Girls make claims. Motivation is to show that even star QBs cannot break contracts in the middle of their contracts. Stop playing dumb. The Texans tried to burying him. That's why the Browns signed him. They'll probably be historically correct. This is actually pretty straight forward.
