F.Couperin : Les Barricades Mystérieuses. Göran Söllscher guitar

- This amazing piece from 1717 is a typical example of a harpsichord composer writing in a way in which a lute player would have been playing.
It was called ’style brisé’ (broken style).
A kind of baroque fingerpicking.
I’m sure that Chet Atkins would have played this piece beautifully 🎵
Guitar by Alejandro 1985
Simple and beautiful.

Mr. Göran, your guitar playing relaxes me., thank you !

@@goransollscher1730 Thank you for your Japanese support 🙏
Four decades ago, my then wife and I had a tape cassette with a seemingly random compilation of folk and classical guitar pieces that someone had given us as a present. It included a beautiful rendition of this piece, played on lute, which I always loved and which always fascinated me. But as the cassette was unmarked, I had no idea who the composer was or what the title of the piece was. Now I know, and hearing it played so beautifully again brings back bitter-sweet memories of that period when I was in my twenties and in love!
Apparently, 'Les Barricades Mystérieuses' refers to the eyelashes of beautiful young ladies ardently pursued by male suitors at the Royal Court of Versailles, where François Couperin gave harpsichord lessons to young members of the nobility, including the grandson of Louis XIV. It is appropriate that you play the piece fairly slowly, as attractive young ladies should, of course, not be pursued too hastily, however ardent one's desire may be.
That’s a nice, interesting theory about the title of this piece. Thanks 🎶
Amazing😊
Thanks 🎶
Gorgeous, Göran!! Beautiful, tender interpretation, masterfully played!!💜
Thanks a lot 🙏
Wholly, entirely beautiful, healing and nurturing. Thank you as always!

Always a good morning when you upload thank you
Glad to hear 🙏
I play this on harpsichord and have also had a crack at Miguel Sedoura's version for baroque lute. Would love if you could publish the guitar version, transposed to C it works really well.
Thanks a lot 🎶
Vilket charmant litet stycke, tack Göran!
Tack min vän 🎶 fingerpicking i barockstil
Sounds brightly 🎶💙

I suspect Chet would have as well. I really appreciate and enjoy many of Couperin's works, but must admit that I don't recall hearing this on guitar before. Thank you for sharing this, it is a treasure.
Thanks a lot 🎶
Dear Mr.Söllscher
Thank you for exceptionally elegant playing! I remember your DG "Eleven-string Baroque" album. I love it so much, and today's playing is even silkier to me. 💕When I first listened this beautiful piece,-you might have heard-it was played by Jean Rondeau and Thomas Dunford. I was captivated by this piece right away. This evening, I am fortunate to encounter your lovely playing again! You made my day!✨
Warm regards,
Louie
Thanks a lot 🎵
And I also love the recording by Rondeau -Dunford
Excelente como siempre. Grande, Göran.
Gracias 🎶
Wonderful performance! Your Bach Cello Suite 1 for classical guitar is the best I have ever heard! The tempo is perfect and the performance touches the soul!
Thanks a lot 🎶
Vackert Göran. Har aldrig hört denna på gitarr förr. Bra arrangement!
Ha det bra,
Per-Olov
Tack min vän 🙏

Hej Olle ! Ja,det är en annan utmaning. Som att flytta från herr- till damtee ⛳️
How lovely. And it sounds like it could have been a Beatles song! Very nice, so pleasing. Thank you.

The sound with the new strings is really amazing!Could you please share what strings you're using, Master?"Thanks!
Thanks 🎵 On this guitar I use Savarez Alliance normal tension on 2-6 and d’Addario nylon, normal tension on first string.
Bravo!
Thanks 🎶
@@goransollscher1730 Thank for bring this music to us. It seems that this is the first I heard you performed on 6 strings guitar. Have you made this recording on CD before?
Yes I recorded it 20 years ago for my album ’11-string Baroque’ but then on
my 11-str guitar@@Joseph-Lau

🙏
So beautiful played, but I must say I love it more on altoguitar.😉
Yes,sorry 😊
Such exquisite phrasing. Thank you❤
Приятная музыка.
Thanks 🎶
Love your playing. I was curious about what brand and size of strings you used on your instruments.
Thanks 🎶 On this guitar Savarez Alliance normal tension on 2-6. First string d’Addario nylon normal tension.
Beautifully played! Appreciates the nice dynamnics, the trills. Very enjoyable!
Totally new to me. Hard to determinate that the date it was written was 1717 🙂
Har du arrat? Väldigt fint! Finns detta tillgängligt?
Stort tack för delning!
//Tobias
Thanks Tobias 🎶 Noterna ligger på din mail nu 😊
Ödmjukaste tack! Får göra ett försök att tolka :-)
I wonder what barricades are those... I guess if we knew, they wouldn't be as mysterious!
So true ! What a smart explanation !
This guitar interpretation by Maestro Sollscher sounds to me so much more "listenable" (if such a word exists!) than in its original harpsichord form - perhaps because the guitar has the variety of tonal variations which the harpsichord did not.
Thanks a lot 🎵
Hi Mr. Söllscher, great performance! Can I ask why you chose to play this on your 6-string rather than on your 11-string like in your beautiful Deutsche Grammophon album?
Thanks 🎶 I haven’t played the 11-str version for many years but I really love that one too. It’s tricky-I’ll have to practice….
Beautiful piece and excellent playing! Thank you for the delightful music. I study classical guitar and I'm about to finish university. Is it possible to study a master degree with you?
Thanks a lot 🎶 I will probably retire from teaching next year,so it’s not possible.
@@goransollscher1730 Oh, I understand. It's a sad news but I hope you enjoy your retirement. Thanks a lot for answering, greetings and my admiration to you!
That’s very kind. Thanks 🎶@@jorgesadallah9993
Beautiful! Is this your arrangement?
Thanks and yes,it’s my arrangement. You can find my mail at the Academy of Music in Malmo,Sweden if you want me to send it to you.
👏👏👏

🙏🙏🙏
I have a CD of John Williams playing this song.
Are your performances also available on CD?
I thought I had all your CDs, but I didn't have this song.
I'd love to hear it on an 11-string guitar.
I play this piece on 11-str guitar on my album ’11 string baroque’. Hope you can find it. 🎵
Wonderful but I request the encore with alto guitar.
Try the version of Jean Rondeau and Thomas Dunford - that’s my favourite
Thank you for the suggestion, mine request was a little bit opportunistic, because I play alto guitar and I like trascribe. Anyway after your video this piece looks much less intricate than seeing the urtext score. @@goransollscher1730
No worries 😊 I also love the alto guitar. Best wishes,Goran.@@attiliosongia
🥰🥰🥰🥰👏👏👏👏
Non per essere pignolo: con la Chitarra 13 Corde si poteva "giocare" un po' coi bassi??
Comunque 👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks🎶and yes I know. It’s nice on the 11-str guitar
One I know Goran so delicious❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thanks John 🎼🇸🇪
Please write down your arrangement of "Girl" by the Beatles
Thanks- I will,one day
Maestro, I owned your Eleven-String Baroque album. I still prefer the eleven-string Alto guitar version. Haha 😂
Me too 😊
