- The rain sensor rarely fails, but more often the gel fails. This was the situation only a year after having my windshield replaced. I decided not to do DIY gel that could fail again and just started with a brand new sensor from GM. In this video I show all the detailed steps in replacing the sensor on my Cadillac CTS but it should be similar in many types of cars.

Wouldn’t you know, my Safelite dealer was managing to avoid my calls for a year and my wipers have started wiping when it is warm, clean and dry!
When I finally got thru to them, they said “an air pocket under that gel pad will not cause this issue” right before he said “I’ve been working here about four months.” Facepalm. Of course they have no record of the promise to replace my damaged A pillar interior trim, so there’s that…
Personally, I recommend NOT using safelite but that is another story all together.

HAHA you beat me to making sure Rainsense is turned on. When I got my car it was off.
If you’re garage door opener and rain sensor quit at same time check fuse box in the back of car on left side by the hatch # f56
I need to figure out how to keep my video mirror tight, going to use blue loc-tite this time and replace the rain sensor. Today it was raining and setting 1 on the wipers did nothing except like every 10-15 minutes.
Safelite has gone downhill IMHO as of about 20 years ago. They over gooped my M3 windshield and installed the wrong windshield even at first. They fixed it, but over gooped it again.
Wait does the CTS V have this feature? I just bought mine and theres so much im still learning about this car
Yes I believe all 3rd gen CTS have it.
Mine is acting up. Sometimes it's perfect, sometimes it does nothing.
