Aces and Adventures is a deck builder RPG with poker-powered combat. Journey through a world inspired by Norse and Middle Eastern mythology to save the Life Tree from the evil that gnaws at her roots.

Ngl, I'm a huge poker fan and the combat is just so perfect, seems that suits don't matter though when it comes to the value of a hand. Still a must buy for me, lol.
From the same creators as this game, they have a tactical roguelike RPG called Popup Dungeon, check it out, its fun. This while waiting for this game to release.

Um hello? Voice over cards. Unique enemy sounds. Poker rules. Beautiful art. Board game ruleset. Complex mechanics and a story. This is going places I hope.
I think the ability discard option refers to your hand at the end of combat, cause you only had 1 ability in your hand and couldn’t take the options for 2/3. Weird but interesting if you are rewarded for not using your abilities in combat

36:07 think you took 1 damage earlier when event card had you sliding through a shaft. Character grunted on landing lol, cool little details in this game to make it immersive!
All the UI elements are so crisp and nice in this game. The voiceover for everything is great as well. Art is good, colors are good, iconography is good. And the gameplay even looks fun!
Low numbers for attack and defense seem to work well with the gameplay mechanics to make each decision feel significant. I like that the 52 card deck remains in use for calculating hand probabilities.

OMG this game is so cool! I've been dreaming of a game like this for years (a _good_ poker rpg) and somehow I had never even heard of this one! Thanks Reto! Do you currently have a moustache? If so, I hope it remains glorious. If not, I hope you spontaneously grow the most luxurious mustache the world has ever seen :)

That team also made Ringrunner which is one of my favorite games.
For anybody wondering demo has 3 classes and 4 adventures. Game is certainly something i will want to look up in future.

I like seeing more of these Poker-style deckbuilders. This is certainly an interesting game.

It wouldn't surprise me if it gets a rouge-like mode that starts with pre determined uneditable decks.

I don't know for certain, but it feels like this demo is a full game length deal. Which is awesome.

I'll probably put it on there even though the roguelike nature of it is arguable (until full release when who knows what mode could be added)

How's this compared to Poker Quest are they similar?
Ehh, they're adjacent certainly but they utilize the poker mechanics quite differently, and this has waaaaay more tabletop game DNA and gameplay is segmented into ~20-30 minute chunks instead of ~3 hour runs (which is a huge plus to me)

This game looks like Hand of Fate without the incredibly fiddly combat part which is why I never bought either of them. I'm going to wishlist this one. I wish more people had played Popup Dungeon on YT as the few videos of it made me question just the heck how combat worked. But I do agree with "How is this so pretty?" since most indy games now look like absolute crap errr...sorry, I meant pixel graphics. Yeah, that's what I meant. ;)
How big is the game btw?
"13 Campaigns and 4 games for a total of 52 levels of escalating challenge" and 5 different characters to play them all with featuring nearly infinite deck combos. Not sure about file size if that is what you're referring to.

at first it is wiered that you use poker hands ... and first i was ""what the f* is going on here?" and then "ahh now i see a system unfolding" ... the storytelling with the cards and the naration is great maybe there will be the possibility to chose a path and you get a random event card (i shoukd have watched just about 2 minutar further xD)... it is definetly one that i will keep an eye on!
Im so glad that this isnt another joke fantasy game.
We have way to many good gameplay games that get ruined by to many overused jokes. To be honest, I feel like this about their other game popup dungeon.

Just like poker, you shouldn't be able to see the opponents cards until you both turn them over.
This would be a good Hard Mode
This game is going to put Voice of Cards to shame just from the voices and sound effects. And with a better combat system too.
I wonder how it'll compare to something like Foretales? That game also looks pretty Stellar.
