I'd rather put my money on asset's then in the bank. Im starting a collection. Thank you

25 to 30% average appreciation sounds spot on. It’s part of the fun factor of collecting but like you said not something someone should rebalance their investment portfolio for. Also toy manufacturers control the supply so it’s very high risk to predict scarcity

Yeahhh. The risk is where I think it falls apart

Wait, did you say its 25% over 10 ten years? That's not a great investment. Property typically doubles every 10 years. I'm not sure 25% over 10 years would keep up with inflation. If you ment 25% per year that would be great.

You guys have to remember, when a figure gets particularly popular on the secondary market, HT will occasionally re-release it. Like Mk 47, Boba Fett, Darth Vader, A1 Loki. So that old figure you have accumulating value could suddenly drop in an instant. HT bursts their own bubble and they can do this anytime without warning. Its an unstable investment.
We all expect them to announce a Diecast Mk 1 Iron man and as soon as they do, the value of the plastic one will plummet . If you're investing in these things you gotta know the right time to sell. You can't just keep them and expect them all to appreciate.

Good explanation of asset vs investment. I don’t look at them as an investment but if you can make some money off them when you sell them that’s great.
The vinyl stuff doesn’t bother me. I didn’t see much complaints when hot toys made the Age of Ultron vinyls with Touma.

To answer what Venom would they give us, for me at least I want the Raimi Spider-Man 3 Venom. Yes I know people hate it, it's not my cup of tea either, BUT, visually I thought Raimi's Venom looked awesome. He wasn't massive, and I kinda liked that he was a bit bigger than Maguire's Spidey, but not overly massive. I loved the webbings on his skin because I liked the idea that the webbing symbolized that this time the symbiote won't break free from it's host, and I kinda appreciated this doppleganger approach Raimi had to Grace's Venom. Plus I just want an officially licensed versions of the Raimi Spider-Man villains, and a 2.0 of Maguire Spidey wouldn't hurt.
Also Zach, is your collection insured? Just curious.

Why not both! I look it as fun that may serve as an investment one day down the road when I eventually move on to the next hobby. Love the return of the podcasts!

I grew up collecting lots of action figures, they gave me a great return. I’m gonna have to check out hot toys.

When it takes nearly a year for figures to reach me after their Hong Kong release, it's really not so fun. I'm patient, but it facilitates my investment prospects when I get a figure and I'm no longer excited to add it to my collection.
    Anyway... Great vid mate 🙏
