This describes perfectly whats happening to my wifes van. A shop had it "replaced" and it worked for 9 days then he had it for another month and it worked for 1 day before it happened again. Maybe they kept throwing the old torque converter in and it never fixed the problem. The fluid is super dirty with clutch material after it stranded us each time
Question
I would like to know if it’s safe to use Lubegard instant shudder fix. I have a 2006 Honda Ridgeline and my truck was driving fine until recently at a red light traffic my truck started shuddering like it had no power it couldn’t drive forward and also could not drive on reverse also no check engine light went on. So I pulled over and I check the transmission fluid and it was black and dirty. Once the truck cool down I was able to drive forward and reverse so i drove my truck home but at a low speed under 2000 RPM because if I will push it to go past 2000 RPM it will start shuddering. So I did myself the Honda 3 times drain and fill with Honda DW-1 and did a test drive but it still acting the same can only drive slow at 2000 RPM and below because then after a while it will start shuddering and once it heats up then truck goes into neutral mode and I have to pulled over and let my truck to cool down and drive back home. So Is it safe and can I use Lubegard instant shudder fix to see if it will help.
Defiantly safe to use may not fix your problem though. Sounds like your filter is clogging up.
@@justcallmeeddie1 How can I replace or
clean the filter? Also is it possible that my truck is starting to have torque converter problems. How can I test my truck if my torque converter is not working properly?
You have to remove the transmission and split the cases to change the filter. You can test the convertor by watching the engine rpms compared to the input shaft speed sensor on the scan tool. When the convertor is in lockup or the TCC solenoid is on the engine RPMs should match or be very close the input shaft RPMs. If it's a difference bigger than 50 RPMs most likely your Torque convertor clutch is slipping.
14:38 I cant find the transmission lines on a 2008 odyssey we are trying to bypass the radiator cooler with an external cooler
You have the set up with the transmission warmer on top on the unit. This requires a special adaptor to run an external cooler.
@@justcallmeeddie1 I figured it out the hard line was rusted and split open, replaced it with rubber transmission hose and kept the rad cooler. Also had to do the same with leaking power steering return hardline. Once you get under there it's easier then I thought. I did it in the rain in a dicks sporting goods parking lot 😆 after driving 15 miles with a bone dry transmission. Can't believe it still works 🥲
Glad to hear you got it going. Also glad you do have the warmer on top of your transmission. Those adaptor are expensive. They come on the Accords. It is pretty simple on the odyssey setup. I would change that fluid after driving on it dry for a few minutes.
