My anxiety shot up through the roof when he tried opening up a guitar case 📈
I've wanted that Gugliotti ever since I saw him on the "rockpalast" DVD tour. He melted faces in a small concert venue in Annapolis, MD. My favorite Bonamassa era!
Me too! I love that thing. What an awesome DVD 📀.
the Gigliotti really is pretty, and I do love the Tele profile, but my Fender Thinline is AOK since I'm old as dirt .............. it's the same guitar that Daryl Hall plays on Live From Daryl's House
I agree! I think that was one of the best live tone he ever had. I believe he was playing through a blues breaker too. Killer tone back then.
Ramshead live has some great shows!
Agree...I wanted that Tele as well when I saw RockPlast.Im in Waugh Chapel in Odenton..You talking about Rams Head
When I was a freshman in college in Upstate New York in 2003-04, I went to a local guitar shop. The store owner was raving about upon-and-coming guitarist son, and also about his Gugliotti guitar. Turns out it was Joe Bonamassa's Dad.
What other kind of ownership is there besides "personally owned"?
Maybe, as opposed to joint custody like the “turdville guitars” he owns with Charlie Daughtry aka @lespaulforum
As in not stuff he’s bought to trade. Makes sense to me.
I once personally owned one square inch of land in Alaska through a cereal box top.
Dealer owned, estate owned…
Lmao...your right
Saw Joe playing that Telecaster at the Canyon club in 2005, opening for Robben Ford/Mike Landau, playing thru a Parker half stack behind plexi-glass, and my ears were bleeding. I hadn’t heard of Joe before, But I sure knew who he was after that night. He crushed it, man, what a night, I regretted when the last song ended. BTW, that guitar sounds amazing, and it looks so cool when the lights hit it, changes colors.
I loved Jen laughing after Norm said Joe’s DNA is all over the Gallagher acoustic, lol
OMG the guitar from „Hadrian‘s wall“.... love that song from the Live over Europe DVD!
being in tune that many years later is insane
I was #800 👍🏻 thanks for sharing your thoughts with me and our family of beautiful artists………THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!
To the buyer It ain't the guitar but the guitarist that makes it special; a guitar to behold and enjoy knowing him who played it first.
I once sat waiting for my lesson in my local music store, while Joe was browsing around. I didn’t even know it was him until my lesson finished and the store owner told me. I was jamming away like an idiot, and never realized it was him even though he was talking about one of his albums. He was in town for a show that night, and he decided to stop by the shop to look around.
Can any body tell me what brand the double neck guitar is. I have a guitar that looks like a Barney kessel, but there's no identifying marks on it. the emblems look kessel, but no markings. But the tuning stock head thingy looks like the necks on the double necked guitar. Any Ideas? thanks
Thanks for another cool conversation between Joe and Norm. What brand and model was the first acoustic they discussed?
It’s a Gallagher Doc Watson signature model. Gallagher is a small brand that was hand made in the small town of Wartrace, TN. The brand ceased production a few years ago and closed up shop.
However, a new owner bought the company and rehired several of the former builders from the original company. They are now located in downtown Murfreesboro, TN right off the town square. They are building guitars the same way they always did including building most of the exact models from the original company. These are high end heirloom quality guitars for a relatively “affordable” price that is in line with or slightly lower priced than the top tier non custom shop models offered by Martin, Taylor, and Gibson.
@@charlesbolton8471 very cool! Thank you for your reply and all the additional information.
Love Hadrian’s wall!!!
I purchased that guitar a few months ago, it is amazing!
Which one
How much was it..??
Which one
Joe knows that acoustic guitars always sound better through a good mic than through a built-in pickup.
Doc Watson was a Gallagher player. Sponsored I think but still. Doc had influence on the building. Know he was playing them as early as mid 70’s when I saw him.
Doc preferred the Gallagher over his old Martin, and switched to Gallagher.
It was a fair competition, because every test that Doc did, was a blind test.
And Norman Couldn't Wait to grab that acoustic guitar!!!
He does this like every day of the week.
Hey Joe. Wartrace is halfway between Murfreesboro and Lynchburg. 😉 Rock on.
Cool guitars and stories!
Yes really interesting.
Very interesting.
OMG I want that metal top Tele!
czcams.com/video/2PGOP9J1uAg/video.html&ab_channel=JoeBonamassaTV
I have that guitar
3:33 - 'Takin the Hit' live at rockpalast with THAT guitar is my favorite performance by JB. Or is it Blues Deluxe at the Borderline? Thanks for being real Joe.
Can't believe he parted with that Tele 😱
So cool!🤘🎸🤘🔥🔥🎸🎸
Amazing talent Joe possesses
I wish people would stop knocking him
So committed to the art
He’s my Eric Clapton replacement, Eric hasn’t done much lately
Who is knocking Joe...even if people do not like his music they have no reason to knock Joe. These people who do have nothing else to do every day and have useless empty lives
"Eric Clapton Replacement". That's sounds like conspiracy theory TV serial. ☺️
@@mrmillcake8525 Eric Clapton died in an automobile accident and was replaced with a lookalike. That's why he wasn't wearing shoes on the Beano album cover.
He has playing talent. His songs are quite boring though.
They probably don't like him for a good reason. Never confuse talent with character.
What was the glaring unspoken theme of this trade in?? None of the 3 had a headstock that said Gibson, American Fender, Martin, Rickenbacker, American Guild or American Gretsch... hint hint hint
It means he's keeping the guitars with those names on them.
i can't believe he's giving up that tele!
He owns a second Tele and matching Strat ... also a blue burst set.
Wartrace is about 30 minutes from here where I live
For store credit?
Gallagher's are excellent guitars now made in Murfreesboro TN only 80 or less are made in a year
Doc Watson played a Gallager. 👍👍
Can't think of a greater endorsement than that. Cheers
i would never trade sell my gallagher great acoustics
Are there guitars still that haven't been owned by joe bonamassa?
What did Joe buy that he traded these guitars on?
Probably another hardtail ;)
Something Gibson, Martin, Rickenbacker or American Fender/Gretsch/Guild/Epiphone
Freakin awesome!!!
Only Joe.... thanks for sharing!! Still enjoining my “Amos”!!
Norm's gonna trade on the 'Bonamassa' effect of course. It's scratched, but it's JB's scratches! A few grand more on the price.
I just realized he sounds a little like John C Reilly
God knows my guitars are covered in my dna. Love my guitars
Coolest looking TELE. 😁
You mean "sells," not trades. That is an important distinction.
I didn't even know Joe knew Norm
Uncle Norm is Joes fathers brother.
Joe grew up learning to buy and sell gear with his dad and uncle
@@tomlewis9783 he isnt. Its just a gag
Just as everyone goes through an accumulation phase...it is followed by a expungement.
Who opens a case like that?! I would have liked to see his roadies reaction to that.
cool guitars tho.
DÉJÀ VU ALL OVER AGAIN
hard sells
You know that Joe's guitars are going to play well.
The question is, what was he trading them in for?
Money for more guitars..
Good guitars.
0:23-0:29 The Gallagher Doc Watson, I think that's what this is, because I have exactly the same guitar, was not made of normal (South-American / Honduras) mahogany but of AFRICAN mahogany (that's what Gallagher called it), which might be "SAPELE", which is also used by Spanish guitar builders for their nylon string guitar.
I tested my Gallagher Doc Watson against a Santa Cruz D (solid Indian rosewood) and the the Gallagher totally kicked the Santa Cruz's ass.
I think mine is from around 1980-1983, but I bought it used in 2002. It has an ebony fretboard with jumbo frets, just like a Les Paul Custom.

I used it a lot at Irish sessions (Lord of the Dance, The Town I Loved So Well and stuff like that). I hope the sessions will start again soon.
Although I love it for bluegrass mandolin, the Dunlop Jazz III is a totally wrong pick for a Dreadnaught guitar. IMHO the nicest pick for a dreadnaught is a simple Martin tortoise celluloid 0.73 mm (that's with .012-.053" EJ-16 strings)
And if you want to play a little heavier you could try a 0.96mm (Martin or Fender).
What also works fine is a cheap Chinese Alice pick (0.73 or 0.81mm), but not all colors (!) give the same hardness to the pick. I like the red .073mm ones and the yellow or black 0.81mm (I use these on my Gibson J-50 and my 1919 L-4). Blue ones suck: they're too weak and break very easily.
If you want a pick that DOESN'T break, you should try the see-through yellow Dunlop ULTEX .073mm (with the Rhino on it).
my gallagher is a little bit older than yours and i agree they kick ass
I love Joe but he should have kept the Gallagher. I believe thats a 78 Doc Watson. I guess I'm biased cause I have a Gallagher 1982 72 Special and they are "special". I'm sure he can afford multiple pre war Martin's but I always loved that he owned and liked the Gallagher.
@@bcummings2187 I agree. My 1973 Martin D-18 is a nice guitar, but not an improvement over the Gallagher Doc Watson. I bought it because of the special opportunity. If I'd need to sell, the Gallagher is the one I'd keep.
Martin is a name that SELLS, so there would be a lot of competition among buyers.
The Gallagher is louder and better built than the Martin.
@@gingerbeer914 I would never sell mine either man. It was my first used "vintage" guitar purchase. Even though it's "only" a 1982 its still 40 years old. I'm so glad I went for it and didn't let it pass by. It' by far my favorite guitar. What is the serial # on your Doc ? I can find out the exact year for you. Also if you contact the new owner of Gallagher Guitars , Dave Mathis he can get you all the info they have on it. Original owner , whether its been back to the shop for repairs, etc. They still keep a ledger with all the guitars sold and their info and owners. If you tell him to update the ledger he will put your info in it. I emailed him and he actually responded back to me personally. I thought that was pretty cool. Something tells me Martin wouldn't do that 🤷♂️. Just go on the website for the contact info.
That's his uncle. He will get them back if he wants.
If I was a famous guitarist. I would not be selling any of my guitars to Norman's Rare Guitars. We all know how guitar stores work, they buy at a low price and sell high. They make 100% profit on a guitar they sell, so selling a guitar owned by a famous guitarist they will sell for a crazy price at a crazy profit. NO, I WOULD SELL IT TO MY FANS AT A FAIR PRICE.
100% profit? Hahaha, I wish we had 100% profit margins on used gear, I wish we had it on anything. Used gear is usually in 40-50% profit range, so there is room to negotiate. New gear is about a 25% margin, 30% if we’re lucky. Also, the best deals are trade ins. Trade ins tend to be a win/win for us and the customer.
Well hell this absolutely means nothing
@reverly1969 they where my thoughts also.... A Guitarist that differs between acoustic guitar to electric baffles me
The same as nylon to steel..They are all the same....It the music you play that differs !
😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh Joe…how could you🙄🤦♂️
Ah i see another burst is comming in joe 🤣
the whole - " so and so played it" at 'such a such a place" is the silliest thing ever. just a sales line to suck more $ outta ya. whadda joke. lol.
Always feel like Joe dumps his crap on Norm with the gig used motif for higher trade value.
Thats his actual uncle, the man who helped him start collecting, buy sell trade guitars amps etc.
Anything Joe brings is a special piece and he wants them to go to a good home
Sometimes its other pros, sometimes a fan.
Well I hope he wouldn't trade in one that's not his!
Piezo = Pi (pee)-e-zo, NOT pie (yummy)-zo. I can't believe my ears
On the one hand, you’re absolutely right.
On the other hand, it’s a weird word, and who tf cares?
Kinda getting rid of stuff..that he doesn’t probably like too much…and cuz his name he’ll get a nice strat or tele ..he’s playing them.lol
Too jumpy to watch
doc watson cringed
Gutter.
covid pushed a lot of mediocre musicians into bankruptcy and destitute
Joe is not bankrupt
He is an extremely successful artist
@@ralex3697 compared to who!?
@@jimboslice9472: Compared to just about every other blues player on the planet.
@@MontyCantsin5 theres no doubt joe is 1 of the best musicians in recent years, however, thats where it ends. his idea of blues are merely in the chords and gestures of the real blues artists that have Acutally live it.
@@jimboslice9472: Umm...yes, on one level that's all well and good but completely irrelevant to the content of my previous comment. The user above simply stated that Joe Bonamassa is an extremely successful musician and you seemed to have a issue with this claim (bizarre when Bonamassa is one of the most well known blues players around). Whether his music is 'authentic', 'real', or to your taste or not is neither here nor there; the fact is that he plays sell out shows and makes enough to have one of the most impressive vintage guitar and amp collections on the planet. If that's not some kind of success I don't know what is.
Sells the crap and buys the good stuff
How does Joe Bonamassa not know that it's pronounced "pee-ay-zo"? 😕
No one cares...
I have yet to figure why this guy is considered so good. I have seen his concert videos and I am not impressed.
What is it about his playing you don't like?
I think Joe is a nice cat, but he's HIGHLY OVERRATED guitarist. He isn't doing anything that hasn't been done by thousands before him.
Joe Bonamassa plays guitar like my dad moonwalks , embarrassing .
😆 Truthfully, no one really knows, nor cares, who John Bonamassa even is🥴🙄
