That is the most iconic Strat in my opinion, the ‘55-‘56 two-tone is perfect. That one is particularly nice.
I'd have to say 59-62 slabboards thats when they were top notch
@@davidwile1277 they are all different eras, different feel and sound and all great.
Fat 50s baby
david king I’d say generally most people would agree with you.
its hard to bend on 9'5 fretboard radius.
I know Joe is known for bursts mostly but he sounds awesome on Strats.
It's awesome and so sweet that a star like Joe still sounds like a total guitar nerd! Go Joe :)
That's exactly how a strat should sound
Thank you for finally publishing this event from 2018. Epic quality. Joe, as always, is fantastic! Beautiful guitar with great sound in the hands of a master.
bonamassa talking about guitars is cool.
God do I LOVE JOE. I NOW HV HMMM LETS SEE, 6 OF HIS CDs. awestruck by him.
He has a unique feel for music. Imagine the world 🌎 without him. I don’t want to.
I love Happier Times at the royal albert Hall and many more.
His collaborations with Beth Hart are brilliant 🤎🖤💜🎸
Six years ago my dream guitar was a Gibson goldtop with p90. Now it’s a 55-56 two-tone sunburst. Wish I knew that 15 yrs ago :)
Yeah, we certainly love the wear marks in between the frets on a maple neck but Leo wasn't happy, and understandably so (from the point of view of a manufacturer).
This.. sounds.. fucking AMAZING
Nice video!! I love JB's respect for the history of our favorite guitars!!
Listening to you guys mull over guitar features and music knowledge is very informative for a pedestrian and must seem to be common place for professionals. Thanks for giving me a peek into the musician scene from a perspective other than Hollywood or MTV Norm
LOVE YOU!!!!!!!THANK YOU!!!!
The different sounds are fantastic.
Wow this guitar sounds really nice it reminds me of my Legend, a beautiful instrument
That Fender Champ 600 I had one, changed the cloth to something thinner and tubes, the tone was so nice after that I even had a Jensen speaker to go in although did not want to ruin the tone. Never heard it with that speaker as sold both to a harmonica player...
Genuinely beginning to love Joe Bonamassa.
Norm has dollar signs in his eyes when Joe turns up
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a method to log back into an instagram account??
I somehow lost the login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Chaim Gael instablaster :)
And after it was filmed it was bought ..... No Doubt .
Faster than winning the lotto
An OG playing an OG!
The voices talking about the guitar sounded great.
Beautiful Strat, ready to solo without effects, just add fingers....y'all be safe out there this weekend! You're responsible for those on your boat and in the water around you, watch your intake, Captains...
That sound came through my phone distinctive👍👍
Joe is such a humble, down to earth guy for being such a badass guitarist.
I think I'll buy it.
It's amazing how humble Joe is.. he's probably one of the best guitarist of all time.. he can play anything a true (prodigy) his line.. yeah it's a guitar... lol classic..like Bruce Lee a punch is just a punch then your learn all the intricacies and it's more than a punch after mastery it's just a punch again. That's Joe Bonamassa lol... yeah it's a guitar..
jew joe is just a jew and because he is a jew he got to be famous
60's strats have nothing on a good 50's strat, thats the sound man and it's a really addictive sound. The new fender american 50's strat is REALLY GOOD.
Love the way Joe gets all those player's tones straight into an old fender amp. No pedals, no different guitars. Mostly just select the right pickup and right hand technique.
Relayer6a ...but according to Jessi above, He knows nothing about Fender gear....
Actually the amp that Joe plugged that Strat into was actually a brand new Fender 64’ Custom Deluxe Reverb. It sounds like a vintage amp even though it’s brand new when Mark was the guitar of the day host he first used a Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10 and sometimes a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 1x12. But he would always use an overdrive pedal all the time. Then he used a 65’ Deluxe Reverb and before he left Norman’s to go to Gibson he used the ‘64 custom Deluxe Reverb which you hear on this video.
@@nickroyalprince2163 The age of the amp wasn't my point. But thanks for pointing that out.
It is 👍 to see Joe just work that guitar. I'd bet that Joe bought the guitar. And, Joe, please be kind to those 65 y/o frets
The great Joe with the great Norm with a great Stratocaster, nice video, when guitars were built right, and not just overpriced tokens to hang on the wall.
This 58 Ash is a good condition. I'm quite sure some of Fender CS must already have made similar tone.
Joe’s love of guitar history rivals even my own... not quite, but close! 😂 He just has more funds than I do 🤣😂🤣😂
Let the guitar talk for itself. It would be interesting to see a video where joe plays.
I thought agnesy did not work with norm anymore.. Anyways,.. I see a lot of beautiful guitars in the background. Give us people in Europe a quick tour someday ...please?
more reverb!
THESE ARE GREAT GUITARS
WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED?
I HAVE A 56 STRATOCASTER
LEO FENDER GOT IT RIGHT
CARLOS GUITARLOS 90942
All freaken day !
I like the later V profile necks Alder bodies too Beautiful guitar How heavy is it ? Weight ? My friend has 55 that is heavier than I thought it would be Thanks
Hard at work having fun
There’s not a better sounding guitar in the world. For me.
Try a squier bullet. Its the same.
There goes another vintage guitar never to be seen again
nice that hank marvin and mark knopfler get a mention.
I miss Mark!
What’s the neck radius on that guitar ? Looks a bit flatter then a normal strat
I wonder how much a guitar in such good state sells for... most likely around the 50k mark?
Joe i got 6 seconds left in my ebay auction you will be my good luck charm in winning this bid on a new les paul 😮
It sounds beautiful fatty sound it's half fender haif gibson awesome stratocaster great joe , bonomassa I love joe great guitarist and great guy
This is for sure casting couch with a guitar. “Awww yeah look at those fucking pickups. Yeah strum that shit ughhh fawwkkk it’s so oldddd”
ups! I am afraid he is mistaken. they discontinued swamp ash bodies aprox in the 2d half of 1955. anyway since 1956 it was alder all the way, except Mary Kay
yep but will stay with my 1981 Tokai Strat.. unbelievable guitar.. like the 1st "custom shop" paid 375USD$ off a Manila rich kid - showroom condition..
Yeah they made good stuff back them Had a Tele from them I dearly miss
Joe's playing really shows the merit of this strat
It sounds like a strat! Say no more and Joe should know thanks!
Joe is seriously the unspoken king....Next to Norm of course hehehe
What does a Strat guitar of that vintage go for ? I’m a 55’ vintage too so really I should have it Norm .
Real playing starts at 6:24 and ends 7:29
NICE ASH!
Nice ash!!!
Sounds like a Sean Connery pickup line. Pickup....see what I did there....
Do you sell fender guitar necks
what's with the REVERB. Over time, I prefer a little reverb. I really don't know why.
"How many guitars does anyone need?" - Norm Harris
For real!
If you passionate about guitars ,and playing well and want to explore more your guitar knowledge in all aspects of course you can have as many you can afford.
Just one more....
@@gabrielcande2527 I agree. As many as you like, as many as you can afford.
Ten.
One Les Paul jr and nine Telecasters.😊
Do we know who the "he" is that left those fret marks?
Norman, you are dead wrong on Joe's girl friend; she was sitting on his lap all the time during the video...
Let Joe Bonamassa wear his throne with honor, since he proved to be one of the greatest guitarist of our time, remember? he played Further on up the Road live with Eric Clapton. Joe Bonamassa you rock the blues and made Eric Clapton look slow on the fretboard.
You are tone deaf so please keep your ignorant thoughts to yourself. Clapton hated doing that show and hated Joes playing, this I know. Thanks
This 1955 Strat was played about 55 Times... Damn this thing is clean.. My strat now looks almost like Rory Gallaghers😂
@Justin Church I have a 1983 Stratocaster, black white one..
anyone else have a problem with knob placement on the strat? i love the sound of a strat to death, but playing one i find myself hitting the volume control too much. i switched to a les paul years ago and i just find it more comfortable with i guess what are my bad playing habits. just wondering if i'm the only psycho out there with this issue
Once you get used to it though, making super quick volume adjustments on the fly to go from just barely breaking up Hendrixian chording to screaming fuzz lead tone with just a quick move of the pinky. Then I go to a Les Paul and it’s like, omfg I gotta move my entire hand away from the picking area just to do a quick volume adjustment! Pain in the ass.
Bonamassa doing Knopfler would be amazing.
Oh god no
It’s freakin straturday
I have a 2014 Corvette stingray I would trade for a like value lespaul
Mark always looks like he's about to cry
Anyone know how long ago this was filmed? I’m assuming Mark didn’t come back for a Covid special...
2018
Lemmo really has aged
ha ha I see what you did there.
Wait...... WHAT?!!
Why are the plastic parts of 50's strats not so creamy discolored like on 60's strats?
Different kind of plastic?
Yes for sure 50s had the Bakelite that didn't discolor
Is that the same as swamp ash?
Yep up until 56 early
We'll get through this together ...
no we won’t, poor people will die in droves and the rich will take more and more money for themselves.
lmaooooo
Glad to find out JB actually has a girlfriend!
What amp was he using?
Fender Deluxe Reverb
I can only wish. And, while I'm at it, I can wish that I had my 68 and 72 Tele's back etc, etc ...
There's literally no good reason for Mark Agnessi to be in this video. His presence drags the video down a notch. He contributes nothing. And him being the spokesman for Gibson's THREATS to us will never be forgotten.
The dude always rubbed me the wrong way. He just seems like the kind of shifty dude that would talk trash about you and hit on your girlfriend when you're not around.
I hate you Joe! and I love you, my six string brother! You get all the good stuff
Could watch and listen to Joe for hours, such a nice humble bloke!and he could
play a piece of shit and make it sound great!
He's only humble when the camera is rolling. Trust me he's a conceited dick
Brownie! That's so Dominoes.
Gotta geek out just a bit on you here, Sam, but although Clapton's Brownie was two-tone sunburst, the wood was very plain visually, with nowhere near the grain of this '55. Side-by-side they'd look substantially different.
@@anthonyc1883 Brownie was alder 56, era of tonewood transitioning from ash to alder.. so does Blackie. That guitar's ash.
Gotta love Joe just noodling over Mark and Norm as they try to talk about the guitar...SO disrespectful.. He only stops playing when he wants to talk
I would choose 70s strat over this any day!!!
😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣
As they rightly say; "We are addicts" and nothing can cure it. Definitely not Nerds.
Right! The first reason we all wanted to play guitar was to be cool and not be a nerd.
It would have been funny if Mark would have started threatening small companies with copying Fender designs. lol
Is Mark back at Norms now?
Joe identifies this near the beginning as 2018
They're not 2 meters apart ffs! Setting such a bad example guys! Good to see Agnesi back in the shop all the same
This is from 2018
@@bipbipletucha we dont know that for sure...is all I'm saying, the optics look bad
It’s 2 years old man.
ass
If L.A turns into Minneapolis, this is the first place I'm headed.
Joe is a nerd but he has good reason to be
Keep those expensive vintage guitars away from Mark's jacket zippers!!!
Exactly. That's where guitar backs go to die. And the fronts go there to get killed by Lemmo's rings.
@@vzeller Good to know it's not just me.
@Arthur Morgan, Formerly 4th Chairman That's a fair point, but I imagine that some of the guitars mangled by his jacket were in mint condition prior to his handling. 🤔
@@808zhu It's cool if you are the one doing the damage and are aware. If the store that is selling it to you is causing damage while in their possession, that's not professional or desirable. Especially when it's just so he can look cool. He even has an entire rant about looking cool and how important it is. Please.
How can you possibly enjoy playing guitar or shopping for one if this is the way your mind works. What a drag it must be to scan any persons entire body/wardrobe to find out how they may possibly be “damaging” a guitar. Scratches/dents/ etc do not instantly appear on a guitar at the slightest touch of something. You ever bought a new guitar? Went home and played it. Did it instantly have scratches and dents on it? The fucking guitar is from the 50s for Christ sakes. You gonna track down every person who’s played it over the years and see what jewelry or belts they wore and bitch about them scratching it. Every note Joe is playing here is “wearing down” the frets. Why not bitch about that too.
My real name is David and I just learned saying 9 in Russian sounds a lot like David.
play authentic aY...
Joe seriously needs to stop buying all the good guitars.
Strat and Les Pauls are the best inventions in guitarworld.
Ehhhh, Leo got it right the first time. Telecasters for me!
And Robert Cray plays rosewood fingerboards, and is why his tone is different. Please do your home work Joe...
Its not polite to talk over someones strat,......just kidding. I was just thinking the other day that buddy guy was the earliest recording i have of the inbetween sounds. Do I win a free guitar? From Joe that is.
Kinda miss Mark.
yes
three skip ads in the first nine minutes...damn thats annoying
Beautiful guitar. If he didn't buy it, Joe should at least pay a usage fee for the wear he put on it.
