    There is no problem when you have a van with a giant backdoor or a giant side door but let's do this with a real car and chair.
    At the very least start with the most common car and the most common chair at the very very least.
    There's a reason there's 3.4 thousand views and less than two hundred likes to this video.

    I use the wheels of EVERY device: mobility scooters, walkers, knee scooters, wheelchairs. And the side of my Toyota Sienna is much lower than back of van due to seat fold down compartment. I also use those back row seatbelts to hold devices in place

    This is how I loaded and unloaded my mother's wheelchair many years ago. Now I need a chair and I'm looking at the Travel Buggy City 2. Is there a no lift way to get this in my SUV. I I already have compression fractures in my back and I'm susceptible to more.

    Just bought a 24 inch wheelchair for my father and got it out of the back of an RX 350 but could not put it in. Some 70 year old man smoking Marlboro reds and drinking a Miller High Life in the doctors parking lot bowed up on it and got in in for me. I don’t have a lip to grab front wheels or handles as I’ve also seen it done. Surely there’s some aid??

    Hw about a wide rollater walker???

    • @yourPTguy
      @yourPTguy  Před rokem +1

      That's a great question, Meri. The puzzle with getting the rollators into the car is due to it "opening up" when trying to put it in. Sometimes people get some velcro and strap it around the walker to keep it shut. Some even use zip ties and just keep some scissors in the car for those times. It's still a pain though, especially depending on the height of the car. I'll see if I can do a future video about rollators into the car. Thanks for the suggestion

      Hi Ellen, the transport chair that I like for most people is found on Amazon - which is nice, because it can come right to the house. The link is in the description but it can be found at any Durable Medical Equipment place locally. Walmart and some pharmacies also have various types of transport chairs as well. I hope that helps? 😊

    How about an SUV that's a little higher than a van and you have to lay the wheelchair down?

    • @lauragrueninger6048
      @lauragrueninger6048 Před rokem

      Also a rollator. I have both.

    • @yourPTguy
      @yourPTguy  Před rokem

      I'll try to put that into a future video. The wheelchair will definitely be more tough depending on the height of the SUV. If it's possible, sometimes if you tilt the chair backward, the front wheels can go up to the trunk. If not, sometimes the passenger doors are a bit lower and the chair can slide behind the front seats. This is typically what is recommended for the rollators as well. A quick help with the rollators is using a zip tie to keep it "closed" so it doesn't unfold. Just remember to keep some zip ties in the car and a pair of scissors if you go that route. An even easier route is using some velcro straps that keep it cinched shut. Thanks for your suggestion.

    Thst transport chair has to be pushed by a person behind the chair, right?

    • @yourPTguy
      @yourPTguy  Před rokem

      pheobe, typically, yes. It's meant for someone else to help transport the person in the chair. However, there are also many people who use the transport chairs and just "chair walk" around pulling themselves forward. However, it can be super dangerous if someone pushes themselves backward to move in it because the chair is so light weight. I talk briefly and demonstrate why that's the case in my other transport chair video here: czcams.com/video/Zvc2BZSkkOI/video.html I hope that helps and stay safe! Great question.

    I am confused, how heavy are the wheelchairs in your country?
    I have an adult sized wheelchair fitted for my 5'10" height, self propelling, armrests designed to unlock and lift up for side transfer and an extra seat cushion. Yet it not only easily folds up so that even my mother is her 80s can do it, it is light weight and and a matter of moments to put in a car boot.
    [EDIT]: Also my bathchair that is a ridged non-folding frame is still pretty light to pick up and carry, and that is also self-propelling with removable armrests.
