Thanks for watching! - Sport
EXCELLENT video! Thanks for putting this together! From soup to nuts on what 2D steering is and how to adjust your wing! loved it!
Even though I’m nowhere near incorporating 2D steering it’s really nice to know and see how it actually works, thanks guys!
Great video. I own a Spyder and have been looking to do this without messing it up. Much appreciated
Absolutely breath taking. You look great Venessa. Keep up your bucket list.
Great video. Thank you for putting this together.
Awesome video. Just what I needed! Thanks
Cool vid. Nice explanation of the process and implementation for flight.
Going to try this on my Spyder 2. If I like it, after some practice I may do it on my Colorado.
This will be a clear and concise video to share to pilots considering this option.
Great content!
Cool video! I need to sign up for Aviator days!!
GO!
Great video. Thanks
what about adding a line that ties into the regular tipsteer split-off point so you can have both tied in tipsteer, and independent?
Great lets seeee!!!
Great video Eric! My wife likes your back-lean at takeoff 👍👍
What effect does this have on accelerated flight? I know ozone doesn't recommend brake input in combination with tip steering, on the roadster 3, during use of speed bar or faster trim settings.
It is definitely doable. I reach above the pulley and pull the tip line ONLY. Risk is increased of course, which is why we recommend this solely for pilots with requisite experience.
Thank you! I was wondering! 😀
I love that wing..
That was fun!
Second comment.. thanks for the explanation Eric.. cheers dude
Nice one chaps.
Love it. Once you go 2D you won't go back!
I use my roadster 3 for free flight as well as for ppg, is having the tip steering tied in okay during free flight?
I have free flown gliders with them tied in. No problems.
Great content. However it makes me appreciate the quality of camera work on the newer videos thanks nonetheless.
We have been so blessed by Reese and Brennen joining our media team!
Hi! I have a Roadster 3 26m and I just followed this video's instructions to tie in tip steering. In the video, Eric mentioned that he was going to tie in the 2d at the same factory mark (as a good first base line) - but them said he actually tied it in 1 inch shy of the factory mark (lengthened the line by 1 inch). Presumably he did this because the 2d toggles are a bit higher than the brake pulleys. This seemed to be just right when he kited it up.
I haven't yet had the chance to kite my wing as the winds have either been way too strong, or non-existent... I don't want to fly it until I check, but I was wondering if 1 inch longer than the factory mark was indeed correct - and whether or not this is the same for the Roadster 3 and Spyder of all sizes? Or does this adjustment vary with the size of these particular wings? Thank you!
You should be right about perfect with that extra inch on your R3, definitely test kite it.
@@aviator thank you so much for the reply! You guys are awesome! I managed to have enough wind (rotory wind) to kite it up a handful of times; the tips looked ok as far as I could tell. I guess that even if the lines are a tad short, the tips shouldn't activate too much to cause any issues?
@@ryandinan You just don't want them to activate until you pull them :)
@@aviator I got a chance to fly it this evening, and it was great! I think I can probably shorten the brakes by another 1 inch (3" total), but oh what fun it is now! I had 2 of my best landings to date. The shortening of the brakes and the 2D made the wing much more "tactile" and more responsive... I can really feel the flare better.
Ryan Dinan so glad to hear!
Can I do this to my wing without tip steering?
No
so the trim / fast can never be let out now ?
Why? couldnt you just stow your toggles and grab tip lines
You can use main brake trims out on all ozone wings. You just shouldn’t use main brake while on speedbar though. Idk I feel like with 2d the tip line is closer and more accessible than on the actual separate toggles.
@@JudsonGraham I took it as don't use the brakes only wing tip steering while on fast trim. I never fly wit a speed bar.
@@Technics19 ya thats true
@@Technics19 oops, wrong place, YES thats true I guess
👏👏👏👏👏
What Is your body weight? I want ti fly the Atom 80...
When this video was made, around 195lbs
@@aviator WOW ! My weight Is around 92 kg
@@joseluisvieraful You'll be able to fly it without any problems. You'll just run a bit further than with a moster.
@@aviator
195? I thought the max pilot weight recommended is 190. I certainly don’t think it’s bad. I’m right in the brink of 190 and I want the atom 80 just for size and weight. If Eric is 195 here that’s very encouraging.
Kc B at that point I was! We’ve seen pilots up to 235 fly it, but it’s quite a run
I don't understand... what was I supposed to be seeing in the final demonstration?
Just Eric having fun!
You make that look way too easy
Why thanks!
