My wallet has no power....it has no money either, so there's that.
As a knife guy this may have been difficult - but needed. Benchmade did not make a mistake - we simply discovered their true corporate culture. Benchmade is off my list period.
Me Too
Hogue knives are badass blades and designs and they support the 2a 1000%. Was looking at the benchmades then this shit went down. Since then I've purchased the exa01, ex05 and the f03 neck knife from hogue. Totally impressed by the quality. Babye benchy.
The incident brought the donations into the light. The more we know the better choices we make. Benchmade knives (I only own one seem over hyped and over priced not buy any will not be a big burden, better companys out there!
So many other great knife companies to buy from.
So many that havent been caught yet. It is a necessary evil in the 2a industry. If you want to get anywhere, palms must be greased. You have a Surefire light, Colt, Leupold or Trijicon scope, or anything from a company that has or has had a Military Contract? I guarantee they made at least 1 donation to an anti 2a Democrat
@@New2Kendo Benchmade should feel some hurt to set an example for others. My money will flow elsewhere unless they come back with a heavy donation to the NRA.
zoo NRA????? They’re worse then Benchmade!!! GOA or NAGR!!!! They actually support the 2nd amendment!!!!! Not trying to start a fight, just stating “my opinion!!!!”
@@la8974 That's pretty funny. Thanks.
@@New2Kendo do you think trijicon does? I love their products.
Hopefully the Benchmade knives will go down in price 😁
yehoshua wildman : or flames
You're like a woman that finds out that her friend is getting beat by her boyfriend and you're like, Maybe they'll break up soon so I can be with him!
Agreed, anyone who wants to dump their 940s in disgust hit me up!
Please send me all your existing Benchmade Knives for me to "destroy"
They could give them away I wouldn’t want one in my pocket I’m over them
I believe boycotts can be very effective (money is the ultimate big stick to businesses). Benchmade just joined the list of Starbucks, Dicks Sporting, Yeti and a few others. Sooner or later companies are going to realize they need to stay neutral (donations made 50/50 is a fair way to address political contributions). As you noted, they could have (should have) made donations directly to the trade schools if that's the issue. Personally for me, it just makes a bigger budget for more Sypderco's for my knife purchases.
All those companies you mentioned are still operating and doing well......next!
@@stephencastillo7005 glad you think they're doing well but it's with less money than they could have had. If you've got stock in Dicks Sporting you keep telling yourself that.
That’s because idiots are still buying their crap
That's because all the yuppies keep buying it
As much as I’d like to agree dicks sales have gone up unfortunately
Thanks for your video. Always appreciative of your balanced and sound efforts into your research and understanding of events and gear.
was about to finally get a 940, but this dropped and i grappled up some spydercos instead
Spydercos are much better anyway and a better value.
Mike J you will get a better price with a Spyderco (no Butterfly Tax ) and much better quality control. Maybe Benchmade will improve their QC since their sales volume will be dropping.
@@mjc7778 Yeah , but too bad I have to spend another $30 on a decent clip every time I buy a Spyderco.
@@brianf9619 meh, depends on the clip, I guess.
I love Spyderco; I did contemplate a Benchmade at first but not now, I’ll stick with Spyderco and Microtech.
Cold Steel!
Taiwan!
@Urban Chaos I'm gonna need them for some cleanup with the release of the AD10/AD15 😎
@@fendushi Made with US steel. If CS were made here and double the price they would still be an excellent value.
They don't make a knife in the United States and I only buy American made Cold Steel is worse then them at least they employ Americans
Well said, Aaron. I'm hesitant to buy a Benchmade now. I was ready to buy my first expensive pocket knife when this came out last week. I went with Spyderco PM2 instead of a Benchmade. So fingers crossed nothing bad comes out about Spyderco haha!
Good choice. Carrying my PM2 right now. Terrific knife.
PM2 is the best EDC knife ever. I've tried to kill mine and it won't die
At the largest gun show between St. Louis and Memphis last week, there was lots of discussion about Benchmade. The knife dealer with the most Benchmade knives could not give one away! I also learned at one time Benchmade had a bunch of knives made in Taiwan and sold them in the USA without revealing where they were made. Customers just assumed they were USA when they were not.
I don't mind knives made in Taiwan. They use Japanese steel, and they know what they're doing. They're also allies of the USA. I draw the line at China made knives, which is pretty much most off-brand knives these days. I primarily buy Ontario and Cold Steel knives (although not Cold Steel after selling out to GSM Outdoors). Ontario knives are made in the USA, and supplied to the military. Many of Cold Steel's best knives are made in Taiwan. Benchmade will never get my money.
Thank you Aaron, you just saved me $150! I will find another American knife company to support!
Me too! I was literaly just about to buy one and looking at reviews when I discovered this whole mess. I think I will pass on that purchase.
Tim S i mean I was ready this week!!! Definitely a pass, so happy this came across our radar! Better ways to invest for sure!
if you think you are "investing" in knives or "supporting" someone cause you fell for a product, you might be a little self important.
Benchmade thought about it before they destroyed firearms. They brought out the cameras and filmed it. Benchmade edited the footage and posted it to their website and their mindset was that it was a positive action. Combine that with the monetary support for gun control representatives and you have a company that is not for 2nd amendment rights but that live off of mostly 2a rights activist. Can't bite the hand that feeds you Benchmade, but you did, so enjoy the meal!
Dean Bridwell: well said sir.
except the police filmed it and put it on their pages, benchmade themselves didn't post it.......lol
You're brainless if you actually think confiscated gun should be resold or parted out
I heard that Benchmade employees all hate Trump and Reagan. I don't know if it's true, but it makes it feel even better to hate Benchmade.
#HateWillMakeYouStrong
@@lucada8538 how so? They police could sell them or have a dealer sell the weapons gor them and the money goes to the police department which in turn (theoretically) is less tax dollars taken out of your pocket
That's a very rational explanation of this situation. I totally agree.
Boycotts do work. Benchmade admitted helping the police destroy guns for years. They never apologized and their political support speaks volume. I don't want to compromise liberty and freedom so I research companies and vote with my money. I encourage everyone to vote with your money too and be educated. Hope everyone is having a great day 👍
Ya super surprised they didn't try to spin that one! And that's the one
I'm most pissed about. I guess they thought we'd forget about it
Ah....Nope. there dead to me
lol...They support politicians that help their business...like every other business does. it just happens that some of those politicians support gun control....youtube supports gun control...so you yourself must be supporting gun control because you support youtube.
@@randyyeager I don't support CZcams, I use the free platform to talk about issues to counter the mainstream narrative. Many of my videos have been demonitized because I counter the narrative. I use CZcams to help others and to speak on liberty. I wish there was another platform that reached the numbers that CZcams does. If that was available I would be there instead.
@@theartofprepping by using that "free" platform, you help them earn money....you can pretend you don't, to keep it convenient for yourself...but that's exactly what yer your doing...but no worries....why should anyone hold themselves up to the standards they expect from anyone else....
@@theartofprepping besides...this issue isn't about money is it? I thought it was about showing the anti 2A folks that you won't stand for it....
I really appreciated the way you navigated this topic. Was already a fan of you/the channel and this just solidifies that.
Excellent way to put many of our viewpoints. Thank you for your time.
Thanks for going over that with us . Super beneficial info.
You nailed it!! 👍
Benchmade is supporting Democrats in Congress & Democrats in Oregon. Regardless of their position on guns, supporting Democrats is a deal breaker for me.
Never again, Benchmade!
2 of their Oregon delegates voted to murder babies born after botched abortions
@@isaacs_knives_and_knowledge what does that have to do with this? you all are just trying to justify this stupid boycott....and you're all doing a bad job of it. You've all voted for at least one politician that has done something evil. Because ALL politicians do evil things....
Hey Randy, evil is, as evil does! Kill babies, destroy guns, donate political money to DemonRats, ... etc. Hope this helps to clear things up.
We understand that but you also need to understand that medium and large sizes business need to support politicians on both sides. It’s not black and white.
Especially a company that produces knives. With a stroke of a pen, the knife industry could be decimated.
My guess is that Benchmade makes donations to build allies on both sides to help ensure that knife laws do not become to restrictive.
Make mine Randall.
Despite their weak excuses Benchmade has made their stance clear. I will now make mine clear to them. I will never buy another Benchmade.
Nobody Care's what you think man
@@modernchimplastname1268 if that was true you wouldn't have commented. But apparently youre not even smart enough to see the irony of your own statement....🤣🤣
@@modernchimplastname1268 funny thing is, they say they are pro 2A, and they allow concealed carry at their business...so yes, their stance seems pretty clear to me as well...
You clearly didn't pay attention to all the information out there. Benchmade made their situation very clear and explained why they have been making those donations. If you knew the reason you wouldn't be acting like such a child.
@@randyyeager They do or don't allow people to carry? Do take into consideration how much of a liability it is for a company to allow people to carry. I work part time at Domino's while going to college and they don't "allow" me to carry because it would fuck with their insurance. They don't want to be on the hook for me defending myself or the case where a driver goes off the handle and hurts someone because they didn't get a tip (we don't really have the most thorough hiring process). If a company let's people carry they should be applauded because a lot places barely even let people carry knives (I'm not supposed to have my 560BK-1 on me at work but fuck it I paid for it and I want to carry it).
I'm sharing this one... I've got a lot of friends that buy the same stuff I do. I appreciate this video more then any other
Well said man.
Great video Aaron an thanks for your opinion on Benchmade. Also for the information too.
I’ll be staying away. #2A is more important.
LOVE Benchmade and I will absolutely buy more.
Vares65 - good to know Benchmade employees are watching this video and commenting.
@@ccsargent LOL - I sell drugs for a living.
Great explanation. My thoughts exactly.
I remembered this video as the most common sense video I had seen concerning this. I came back (28 March 2021) to reference this video after reading comments on Facebook concerning Benchmade. Well done video.
Well done Aaron...I think this is the best response so far...Very level headed...God bless!
I was going to buy the Puukko 200, have been debating for years over which fixed blade I wanted. I will buy something else. Wa, Or, Ca, seem to be in a hold my beer war with anti gun laws lately. I live with the fallout, there are companies that support my rights actively and I will support them instead.
I have been carrying my benchmade griptillian 154cm for a little bit. I like it but I'll get a new EDC.
Was going to buy a puuko 200 for bushcraft .guess I’m getting a Spyderco bushcraft now
I thought you handled this with a lot of class. Grateful of the video.
Fair commentary on the situation.
I like your take on this. No knee jerk action BS.
Spot on.
My position...it’s their factory, it’s their money, it’s their political position, it’s their “bad decision”...But, it’s my money.
Ps. I don’t own any Benchmade products and now I never will.
Same here
How was it a bad decision
pRo gaMerZ do research they have donated all there money to dems and anti gunnera
Palmer Don’t bother with troll comments.
You probably can't afford any so it didn't matter
I agree with you 100%. I also came to the same conclusion. I have been collecting knives for the past few years and was never a big fan of Benchmade knives. They always seemed overpriced to me but I recently fell in love with the Crooked River and mini Crooked River and purchased both this year second hand. I will not part with them but I will not be buying any Benchmade knives for the foreseeable future.
Sad to hear you won't be doing a review on their Puukko. I bought it when it was released, and I love it. I rarely use any of my other knives since I got it.
Well said Aaron!
Well hello ZT. If I ever buy another expensive knife I'll be looking at ZTs. Plus i love Kershaw or KAI. I do have one Benchmade.
Reminds me of the Springfield fiasco a few years back. And I haven’t bought a Springboard product from them since.
Glad I don't like their knives, destroying guns is a no no for me. Adios
Destroying dirty guns is a must
adios....lol..if ya never bought them...what are you saying good bye to?
@Murica Fuck Yeah !!! I know, i honestly think people with mental issues care about confiscated guns being destroyed.
Your a good and awesome man!! People make bad desions but we're human only God knows and See's all. The fact that they give to those who want to diarm us is a deal breaker. Thanks much and blessings to you and your family 😇 🇺🇸
Doesn't the second ammendment include knives just as much as it includes firearms?
Great videos! I am not a fan of what Benchmade is doing! Was looking at the Bugout and now I need to find an alternative knive. Please put together a video for us showing some good alternative on the the market to the Bugout. Thx
I love baby seals too.
They can be very sweet and tangy right off the grill😁
Great video. I agree with your stance completely. I'm very disappointed with benchmade. I honestly don't own many benchmade knives anymore and think they're overpriced anyway.
Agree, thanks for being a beacon of reason, anti-hysteria, and compassion.
And 3 years later.... Uvalde, Texas. Just maybe Benchmade was on to something. Food for thought.
None of my money will be spent with benchmade.
I like your way of thinking. I probably should give my post 2 days before posting or at least wait until I've had some sleep.....my bad!
Good video!! I total agree with your opinion.
I agree with you 100%
Thx for explaining.
I’m glad that you are of the mind that you shouldn’t say someone is dead to you because they have a different view point. All of the hate for different viewpoints makes it hard to make change in this country.
I think you are confused buddy, ill keep my 2nd amendment and give my money to companies that support politicians protecting gun rights. period.
Amen!
I agree with u & for now I will save my wallet. Was going to get now griptilian with s30v but will wait. Thank u for the video. Keep us posted
🤦♂️here I thought, the backlash was a new Benchmade knife. On a related note, I have switched to hogue with their Doug ritter. Has the look and feel of a griptilian but with m390 steel. 👍👍
The baby seals probably had it coming.
Wow Thats really good info. I wish I would have had that a couple weeks ago, I just spent an ass load of money on benchmade stuff. Most people would assume they would be more conservative. Its important to know who your doing business with. I'm not spending another dollar with them until I know more about them.
100% agree. We often jump the gun. This goes for personal encounters too but I often can't wait that long in that case. If it's going to affect your life, your livelihood, your family and friends then things are imminent.
Benchmade screwed up...based on their customer base... Fact. Will I buy another Benchmade?
No.
My decision is not down to this situation. It is down to their lack of value...sorry. their Bugout will cost me $200 here in Oz. A vaguely equivalent model from dozens of other competimg brands will cost me $45 -95. For a better knife with better steel and better strength and lockup...and still light weight because every production folding knife maker from OS mills their handles to save weight. And they provide G10, Micarta, etc at a fraction of the cost. Buy up while it lasts...because overseas underpaid suicide net protected slaves cannot keep this up for us forever.
Benchmade: The "Dick's Sporting Goods" of knife companies.
Thanks Benchmade, the future you’re fighting for is the one where I have to leave my Glock 19 at home in a safe and I instead get to carry a $350 automatic knife. Can’t wait to see what the criminals carry. What’s that old saying? Don’t bring a “something” to a “something else” fight...?
This whole situation reminds me of one of my pro 2A friends who then became a cop and changed his point of view to wanting more restrictive gun laws for law-abiding citizens. Once it’s not your rights being affected, it’s so easy to support them being taken away from others. Point is, when he was a citizen he supported more freedom, once he got that freedom for himself, he no longer cared about everyone else.
The same is true of these Fuds at Benchmade. They’ve got the chief of police on speed dial and the don’t feel the need to carry anything more than a knife everyday, so screw everyone else’s rights, let’s just make sure I can carry my automatic knife when I visit the Grand Canyon.
Hogh308
If I’m going to use screws then I’m going to bring a drill.
If I’m going to pay $350 dollars to protect my family I’m going to buy an M&P not a knife. I believe in the right tool for the job.
@@sski1971 350? Most of their knives are way under that
e fred Idiot? I actually read Benchmade’s entire response, along with interviews. You didn’t even read my comment. One of us can read, one of us cannot.
Boweimer 1 Exactly. Benchmade should be fighting to protect our right to carry a firearm before expensive automatic knives.
@@Libertarian_Neighbor What you fail to realize is the same politicians that are protecting our guns look after our knife rights as well. All Benchmade is doing is picking a side, and trying to butter them up just in case the left wins. They are covering their own ass so when guns get outlawed like the left wants, that knives don't meet the same fate. Benchmade made their choice, they picked a side, and they picked wrong.
I bought a puukko before this happened, at the very least I will be sanding the logo off and give the whole knife a mirror polish or if I think I can make a large enough knife I might cut down reforge the metal.
I’m in your boat. I’ll wait and see.
This is so sad because I bought my first Benchmade a couple weeks ago. Love the knife(bugout). My question for you Arron are you going to take down any videos of Benchmade?
Billy Hooks still have the receipt?
Agree!
I agree with you
How mutch do you want for your Benchmades. I love their knifes but i DO NOT SUPORT what they are doing. I will never buy a new Benchmade but i still think i will buy a used one.
I'm glad I didn't get that Hidden Canyon Hunter I had been eyeballing.
I'm also glad that it wasn't one of my favorite knife manufacturers instead of Benchmade.
Trying to figure out how you have 3 likes but I'm your first viewer...
Definitely true about the reactionary/outrage tribal culture we've created, or at least allowed to be created around us.
When there are only 3 companies left to buy from than the companies that were left behind will need to get in line and start supporting the people that made the companies grow in the first place.
No plans to purchase any new benchmades but not selling any either at this time.
Well said.
You just got a new subscriber.
All my benchmade knives were purchased used off Ebay so the company never got my money so yet I will continue to use the knives but my opinion dosen't matter anyways since there's more serious things to worry about in the world than a company destroying guns
I may adapt your 48 hour rule. Have to think about it.
Take 48 before you decide please.
Hmmm....good idea.
Would be awesome if a non bias list of companies was put together by one of the CZcams gear reviewers that we all follow on the subject of where the companies political alliances stand & whom we should buy our gear from based on that & performance of the gear. In turn this may boost channel subscriptions & such if we knew the product that is being reviewed from a certain person would fall into guidelines that do not support in any way any bans on guns or knives. I do not own any guns at the moment but plan to start buying this upcoming summer after some training of use, regulations & laws.
Very reasonable response! I'd like to remind everyone that there are probably lots of other companies that we buy products from that would do far worse then Benchmade when subjected to our morality or political assimilance tests. I do agree with supporting morally upstanding companies as much as possible but let's be real about the situation in the world today. If we are going to punish companies like Benchmade punitively without allowing them to correct and learn from mistakes, while at the same time rewarding all the theft and moral depravity of the Chinese economic model, then we might as well kiss the enturpreneurship, enginuity, and quality of the American economy good buy! And by all means anyone that chooses to take the hard line on Benchmade then should also be encourage to do so with all other companies that fall short of their moral and political convictions. I for one would celebrate their conviction but there's nothing quite as disgusting as a cherry picking hypocrite! So for me, I will always do my best to align my buying power with good upstanding albeit quite possibly imperfect companies and manufacturers. And also do my best to avoid giving dollars to the most egregious offenders of whom exploit the safety of people, the sanctity of fair labor, and the protection and sustainment of our environment.
Did they "destroy guns" or just break down guns?
I like surefire's release they did about there donations.
Just bought my first Spyderco... a Paramilitary 2. Don't need Benchmade anymore.
Guess I'll have to take a 940 Osbourne off my knife "Bucket List". Suppose I'll just have to replace it on the list with a ZT0777. dcr
Go watch TGC news. Benchmade responded to him and answered a lot of questions. I thought it was some good info. I think they should make those responses more public.
I have kind of grown out of Benchmade anyways. I have gone to Bark River knives because I love the convex edge and a good fix blade. Better warranty and steels. I have always hated Benchmade edges because for the price I always have to fix the edges on new knives. They are very rough. That said. I feel they are high priced and you have reviewed some good alternatives for better prices. I find anti gun politicians always go after knives next, Heck it is funny to me that some of their knife line is already restricted in high gun control states. I guess they have not learned from the Canada issues were allot of their knives are illegal or in question under their knew knife laws. Just my 2 cents. Lol. It just seems they are giving to those who will take from them later.
They just want the bear to eat them last.
Same here. I wish I would have started buying bark river way sooner. They have way better knives for same prices. Plus there in my home state.
What b.m are you selling?
Hello everyone!!! Here are two video about the Benchmade anti-gun issue that I really think everyone needs to see!!! These two video are made my long time youtuber and knife/gun enthusiast/collector Jeff Smith(CutleryLover) -
Video 1 - czcams.com/video/qXLYNIYTmaA/video.html
Video 2 - czcams.com/video/FifnofAEh28/video.html
Benchmade screwed the pooch.
North Carolina just started allowing (few years back) allowing Law Enforcement agencies to sell firearms that have been seized. Unfortunately some of the firearms collected are damaged or modified to the point they can be sold for safety issues. A majority are sold and the agencies get wants left over.
I've started paying a lot more attention to who my money is going to. There are so many great companies for knives, guns, camping gear, whatever. It's worth it to me to support good things. Like my constitutional rights, and not supporting those that want to take them away.
The baby seal analogy was spot on! Liberty Doll (on youtube) has some good info on the whole story too.
It's 2023 and I'm going to tell you this right now. Every single forum that I've been on have people posting pictures of their benchmades next to their Glocks LOL. I guess nobody cares anymore
You know what's hilarious to me? This is all over them helping the police department destroy some guns. Yet I don't hear any gun supporters being mad at the police. Quite the contrary in fact you guys are the ones running around with the blue lives matter and The thin Blue line American flag bumper stickers. Yeah these guys may have destroyed some guns and donated to some leftist lobbyists which isn't cool. But guys there a Knife company we shouldn't be holding them to the same standards as our police departments. So why don't you be mad at the real enemy here
I align with your feelings on this really closely. My biggest issue in the donation to anti gun Democrats. I can't seem to get over that no matter what they do now to try and fix it. They are only trying to fix this because they did something stupid to get caught. Had the cop who posted that photo not attempted to virtue signal to the world we would not even know about this.
Perfect Analogy
Very reasonable
Benchmade was on Guntalk last weekend.....Tom Gresham exposed them as the sell outs they truly are. The response was justified. They sre knife people they care about knives.... They could care less about guns. I heard it from Benchmade themselves.
Just made that Ganzo a little easier to buy. I was going to buy a mini grip.
Many of the guns that were destroyed were guns that were stolen, and no attempt was made to return it to the rightful owners.
Would they destroy a car that was stolen? Guns should be treated the same way.
algierssolja So now you’re going to support a Chinese company that makes copies of American designs instead of an American company that employs Americans? Doesn’t seem much better. Also you can’t sell a firearm that has the serial number ground off illegally. Those need destroyed.
@@PittRules55 99.9% of goods in both of our homes are from China anyway. What about the American's that had their property stolen by criminals, confiscated by police and destroyed? Sure some may have had defaced serials, but the PD policy is to destroy ALL confiscated guns. Even the ones that could have been returned. This isn't the day in age where I can give money to Democrats first hand or by proxy. Im out bro. You are free to support them.
".......shall not be infringed......unless the arm is found to have a defaced serial number?"
@@PittRules55 There are plenty of other USA made knife brands, like Buck, Kabar and Esee. As Tom Gresham pointed out, Benchmade is also backing some interstate transportation legislation that will actually make law abiding citizens into criminals just by transporting knives across state lines.

Going to lose ??$$ money on this act a big lesson.benchmade
I’m with you. Thanks to folks like you in this country that are logical in thought, yet have your stance on your beliefs. So, maybe some Ganzo/Benchmade rip-off reviews? 😁
