    Great video. Easy to understand. I am going to tackle this this week. I will let you know how it goes.

    I would not worry to much about the tabs because the bolt will hold things in place. However, the bolt seal washer would be good to replace. If water leaks into the bolt hole of the transmission shaft it will rust and you will not be able to make the repair again if needed. Thanks for the question!

    Thanks for the comment. I feel the same way. I appreciate you tolerating my first experiment into video production. Unfortunately it is far to time consuming to strip the music out of the washer video files because of the way I edited them. (Music and narration became combined.) Just hoping it still helps people save their money...

    One from the hardware store should be fine. It's not very urgent but I would replace it sometime soon. the agitator is not watertight so small amounts of water can work it's way in there and rust out the bolt threads.

    What seal are you referring to? The seal inside the agitator, underneath the fabric softener dispenser?

    Thx, Half the washer is still there, but the outer rim is gone. Wouldn't the dust cover keep water out? I will def look into replacing it, can I get one at a hardware store, or do I have to send away for the special one? We don't use water of softener in the that area, so unless the washer exploded, I don't think water could get in there.

    I have a Maytag washer. It agitates slow. And don't move the clothes. But everything else works fine. Any clue? Thank you.

    It's bolded down, and I heard the tabs on your model here could be broken and not effect the machine. When I tightened the bolt down, the washer on the bolt cut in two and part of the inner circle stayed on while the outer circle seperated and rolled off the top of the bolt, do I need a new washer? Or can it function with just half the washer? I know water does not go into that area, but what's the purpose of the washer, prevent leaking? Please let me know asap.

    I agree but unfortunately, the way I edited this one that is easier said than done. Hope the content was helpful! My new videos are annoying music free : ) Thanks for the comment.

    I have a maytag...this video looks like it would be a quick easy repair. My problem would be I have the agitator fully out of the washer but cannot get it to separate into two pieces. Help! family of 6 needs a functioning washer! I have tried stepping on the base and pulling up like you show however it does not budge!

      Sorry for the delay! Some of the newer ones are fused by melting the tabs on the top of the cam housing that holds the agitator ratchet dogs. The center agitator bolt will hold everything together so you can use a woo chisel or screwdriver to cut them out and release the top half... I would think that's probably the cause. Hope that helps!

    you forgot to mention to use agitator grease on the bearing piece before re installation.Get the agitator grease before you begin your repair.

    I did mine tonight, model number Whirpool LSN2000LW0 and ran into an issue. The cam was attached to the bottom agit with tabs that were glued or irregular and I could not separate the two pieces, when I did two of the tabs broke off the bottom agitator. So I am not sure if this is ok, or the clothes mover agit is a tad looser than it was before, is this ok?

    my whirlpool washer won't agitate she drains and spin but wont agitate its not the dogs the bolt keeps. getting lose i tighten and it losen up

    • @applianceassistant
      @applianceassistant  Před 9 lety +1

      +Grisel Crespo You may want to try some lock tight on the bolt. However, that is not normal... I'm wondering if the drive system is doing something out of the ordinary that may be causing that. when the washer is spinning is the agitator moving with the clothes? It may be agitating while it's spinning, that will usually cause the clothes to become tangled under the agitator though... Just so I know what style we are talking about, what is the model number of the washer?
