Creepy Sculpture of Drowning Girl Appears in River

- People in the city of Bilbao recently woke up to a disturbing sight: a sculpture in the River Nervion, depicting a young girl, eyes wide open, who appears to be drowning. It’s the work of a Mexican artist named Ruben Orozco Loza. Titled “Bihar,” which means ‘tomorrow’ in Basque, the work of art is meant to provoke conversations about sustainability and climate change. The artist told a Spanish news outlet that he wants people to consider how "their actions can sink us or keep us afloat.”
Imagine the eyes looks at you and starts moving
woah hello didnt expect you here
Omg YESSSSSS.. creepy
Say sike right mow
And then everytime you move you get shot
You mean 'blinking?'
It's good that he made it larger than an average person, or people would be mistaking it for someone actually drowning.
Exactly!
I wish they kind of did. Just to see how people would react. Just curiosity I guess lol.

@@Yakerbb Yes because that's the only way to make y'all low attention span mfs to pay attention.
I'm all about fixing climate change but drowning or even flood (what this can be interpreted at by just seeing without knowing artist's intention) isn't just cause of climate change. If you're country is experiencing it there's a chance it's more because there isn't a proper irrigation in place or the land is supposed to be sank -in other words below water than above.
Well that's for flooding, as for drowning... It has many causes. NGL when I first saw that I thought it was for suicide awareness. 😅
The symbolism behind it is amazing

*Why would it be okay for the city to allow an "artist" to put a sculpture of a drowning girl in the middle of a river, right under a bridge?* It's not smart or clever, but simply wrong. The people should demand that such a disturbing image be removed, especially when kids can see it. A river should be a majestic sight, without a sick distraction placed in it by man.
Exactly, people call this activism art beautiful when it's the opposite and disturbs the true beauty of nature leaving a ugly stain for everyone to see.
Title "Drowning In Dreams"
All of the Oceans I have dreamed of, have been drowning me in my sleep. For I have become my own worst enemy. I lie in wake because I....suppress the memories. Like a mirror of the sky is this pain of mine. Up above me is a reflection of my mind and I swear it comes and haunts me at night. Like grey clouds moving in to steal away my sunshine. All of the tears I have cried have accumulated over time. My eyes I am trapped behind. Because they hide a deep sea inside. When emotions run high the waves crash and collide. I toss and I turn but there's no peace of mind. There is a raging storm that has taken form calling for the turning of the tide. I fight to hold my head above water. But the current keeps pulling me under. Like I was destined to be just a part of the deep. It will all come crashing down on me. So tonight when I go to sleep. As far as the eye can see. I'll be drowning in dreams.
-Everly Moore 💕
This wouldn't remind me of " climate change" at all, I doubt most people would even make that connection....maybe the terror of drowning though.

That's the cool thing about art. It's all subjective
Well, he DID explain it because art can be interpreted in many ways. Doesn't make it any less effective that IF he hadn't said anything, it could be interpreted differently. That can be said about ALL pieces of art with messages behind them.
