American ingenuity don’t settle for failure, succeed, grace and peace
Yes, the once proud Nation but since WWII has to settle for being losers ever since. Hahahaha
When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.
When life hands you 'hell on Earth', make Ice Cream.
There is a similar story of a USAAF fighter squadron making ice cream in the drop tank of a P-47 Thunderbolt. They put all the ingredients in the tank and took it up to around 30,000 feet and started doing aerobatics to mix it all up. When the plane came down, they dropped the tank off and cracked it open with an axe to enjoy their meal.
That response by the CO seems about right for a Marine. =]
Amazing ingenuity....thanks airzoo staff for making yet another day educational and adventurous for my little ones
Our pleasure!
There's always room for ice cream...
I heard a story many years ago about how RAAF Servicemen convinced a USAAF crew to take a load of Beer up in their B-17 to chill it.
Unfortunately being in bottles, they proceeded to explode as they froze and the fragments of glass nearly cut the rear of the fuselage off.
Suffice to say it was never done again
"-And Im coming over there tommorow to get my portion!" XD
Adapt and overcome.
Going high alt to make some ice-cream... that sounds awesome
really amazing. i love fly and i love ice cream!
Never underestimate the ingenuity of bored Marines.
Let me guess, one of the marines was Italian who left his ice cream business in New York unattended? :)
Well the CO understood the need for Moral and esprite de corp. The Pacific War was a hot bloody slug fest. Some ice cream is just the thing, even thou it had to have been not good. Ice cream was so important that the Navy commissioned two ships whose job it was, making Ice Cream. Coke was another thing along with M&M's. I love Ice Cream, always have, even thou I should not eat it, I still do.
Coca Cola invented Fanta just to keep those Nazi Deutschmarks rolling in
I recall a story about how whenever a friendly aircraft was downed in the water the nearbuy vessels would work search patterns and the one to recover the pilot was given icecream.
Minced meat? Or desert?
Like they said leave it the marines. 🗿
Was that "cocoa powder," or "coca powder?"
probably both
probably actual cocaine, knowing how crazy early 20th century america was.
And they say marines are dumb.
leave it to the Marines to do incredibly successful but also dumb shit just because they wanted to
