    Hi Alan fantastic video was this at Clifton Springs as I do see the old stumps from the old pier.
    I find Clifton Springs very weedy on the squid jigs
    However intended head and st Leonard's not so weedy on the squid jigs
    Cheers Phil Vassallo

      Yes it sure was, all the specifics go inot our members area. I like the weedy areas thats where the squid are. Yes indented heads and St Leonards also very good spots too

    So jealous of you being so close to the coast Al, I miss it being 400k's inland from Newcastle. But I do at least have a good dam an hour away with reddies, yella's and cod so I still get to wet a line regularly, but I do miss my salt water fishing.

    What are your thoughts on new moon.
    Love the episode Allan.👍

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před rokem

      Hi Glen, Full moon usually means very slow tides. They often say no flow no go. That being said it can be really good for night fishing as it keeps the sea lice away which is great for species like gummies, mulloway and snapper.

  • @ahmadallouche5969
    @ahmadallouche5969 Před rokem +1

    Black has been a dominant colour for for years and many other anglers. Black, white, red all you need in my opinion. Do you rkn the whiting fishing would be good this time of year?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před rokem

      Agreed, Black and white jigs are standouts. I too find on most occasions thats all you need. The whiting has been quite slow the past month but will pick up as the water temp rises, Last week there were a few decent sessions on them,

    Hi Alan I love you video, I am beginners with small tinny, what would be safe wind and whether you recommend? And is there boat ramp in this you location

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před měsícem

      As a beginner, it's very important to understand wind and swell before venturing out. I study tools like meteye, willys and windy before every trip. Understanding the wind direction plays a massive difference in swell height that is safe or not safe. Eg in my area a 15k southerly will have meter plus waves yet a 15k northerly will be very flat. There are some very detailed vids in the FishingMad members area that might be really helpful for you as you're starting that cover stuff like this.

    Hi Alan, with all the recent rain, do you recommend waiting for the water to clear up or changing plastic colours and continuing. 👍👍

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před rokem +1

      Yeah the water can 100% impact water clarity, sometimes its best to wait a couple of days after heavy rain to target squid, also wind direction makes a huge difference as a lot of that dirty water and run off will follow the wind and tide so I fish the opposite wind direction for optimal water clarity

    Hi Allan, i have question. I've noticed nobody burleighies for squid, why is that?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před rokem

      All depends on where you fish. 99% of the waters i fish for squid i drift so berleying would be quite pointless as you would constantly be moving and drifting away from the scent trail. Ive seen squid scent for squid jigs and I also have a few mates who will anchor up and berley hard then move every 20 minutes or so, I just enjoy drifting and covering ground.
