How to clean your Dyson Airwrap™ styler's filter

  • If your Dyson Airwrap™ styler cuts out during use a light starts flashing, won't turn on
    or becomes overheated, these could be signs that your filter needs cleaning.
    To maintain optimum performance, we recommend cleaning your
    Dyson Airwrap™ styler's filter regularly, as shown in our video guide. Always switch off and unplug your appliance before carrying out any maintenance.
    If it's been in use, allow it to cool down completely. First, use the filter cleaning brush to remove any debris from the outer filter cage. Next, remove the outer filter cage from the appliance and rinse under warm running water. Tap to remove excess water - do not replace the filter cage on the appliance until it is fully dry. The inner filter mesh should then be brushed clean with the filter cleaning brush using a rotating action. Our experts are on hand to help, so leave us a comment if you'd like some further advice.
    To maintain optimum performance your Dyson Airwrap™ styler requires regular care and maintenance.
    IMPORTANT: always switch 'OFF', unplug and allow the machine and attachments to cool down before carrying out any maintenance.
    Step 1. Slide the filter cleaning brush over the cable and onto the filter cage.
    Step 2. Using a rotating action, clean the filter cage thoroughly.
    Step 3. Pull the filter cage downwards, onto the cable.
    Step 4. Gently pull open the filter cage and slide it off the cable.
    Step 5. Wash the filter cage under a warm, running tap.
    Step 6. Tap to remove excess water and leave to dry naturally.
    Step 7. Using a rotating up and down action, clean the filter mesh until all the debris has been removed.
    Step 8. Gently pull the filter cage open and slide it onto the cable.
    Step 9. Slide the filter cage towards the handle until it snaps into place.

    3.5 years later, I find out the existence of the tiny brush. It was just sitting pretty at the bottom of the case lol thanks for the tip!!

    This is amazing and did the trick! I got so nervous when I saw the red light and thought "that's it, this is too good to be true", but all good. The brush that it comes with is GENIUS! It's amazing what it picks up so definitely do it over a sink. For reference, I'd had the airwrap for one year without cleaning. When I got it, I was too excited to read about maintenance, but will do this regularly now.

    I cleaned the filter as instructed in this video but same thing is happening. It only turns on for 1-3secs and sometimes 20secs but sooo inconvenient since I need to dry my hair so I can go to work. I wished I read the issues with Dyson Airwrap before purchasing 😭😭😭 I have only had this airwrap for like 2 months

      A mi me pasa lo mismo! Con la de color rosa no pasaba,ahora tengo la azul nueva y a los 15 segundos al máximo de calor se enciende,la descambio,me dan una nueva y lo mismo 😡 ahí está sin usar…15 segundos de uso tiene y es el cabezal de secador,porque sin ningún accesorio no sale la luz….te han dado alguna solución?

      @@TheCoset la Mande a USA, alla la limpiaron y le cambiaron el botón del infrarrojo, que la máquina está bn me dijeron y que debía solo limpiarla muy bien, sin embargo me sigue pasando cuando uso el cabezal de los rulos, cuando la uso y cambio el sentido se apaga, para que esto no me pase me toca es usarla sin apagarla es decir hago el rulo y no la apago y pongo otro pedazo de cabello y asi me funciona bn, pero no debería ser así y también tengo la máquina nueva.

    Do the holes on your filter cap have a film over the back of them, mine does and the hair wrap filter keeps flashing red and turning off. I can’t work out why other than potentially this film

    My barrels won't pick up hair. I turned the highest air flow and heat but still it won't pick up. On damp hair too

    This product works great when it's working but breaks often.
    My girlfriend loved this product until it broke twice (inoperable) due to the filter being dirty despite her cleaning literally after every use after her first replacement. She is the type that takes care of her products very well, especially when it comes to something expensive like this product. After calling customer service the second time it broke, she was given the run around:
    1. Oh let me try to get a new filter for you
    1 day delay in response
    2. Oh guess what the filter isn't in stock
    3. Oh the replacement will cost $150 for the servicing and $450 for the part
    4. We do not know when the part will come back in stock
    Ok, so what do you recommend we do?
    5. Just buy a new one
    All of this was said in a sweet and apathetic tone like it was a well rehearsed play. No apologetic tone but instead an overly sweet and condescending tone when delivering the message which he (Carlos) knew we would react negatively to. It's as if he derived pleasure from knowing he was delivering a message we wouldn't want to hear. He paused on the phone as if to wait for us to ask "so what should we do". No recommendation on next steps until prompted - where is the proactiveness? Where is the customer service?
    The worst part of all of this is my girlfriend still wants a replacement and I will likely buy her the latest model. She has been so loyal to Dyson despite this terrible customer service. I really can not recommend these products but will be unwillingly purchasing another one for my girlfriend.

    Is it normal for your room to like steam up my room seems to get a layer of fog after using the airwrap. Has anyone else had this?

      Hi there, thanks for your comment. We suspect that your hair might have too much moisture on it when beginning the styling process. We always recommend your hair be around 80% dry and 20% wet when you begin styling with the Airwrap™. Use of the drying attachment will help with getting your hair to the optimal level.

      If it's very new, within the first few uses it is normal to expect a smell from any brand new appliance with a heater element (e.g. toaster/oven/kettle etc) and the smell will fade with time and usage.       It's possible depending on the volume of dust or particles on the filter cage or metal filter. This could also happen If the filter is covered by hands or clothing during use.

    근데, 생산지마다 부품이 다른건지 한국유통되는
    콘센트랑은 전원콘센트디자인이너무 다르네요.
    훨씬디자인은 이쁜데, 220V도 저런 디자인과

      there is no such thing as a digital motor. motors are inherently analog. it’s just a term they use in their marketing for a switched reluctance motor.

      Honestly I don’t think that you really need that. If you notice, it’s literally just a tiny brush

      When you first open it it’s in a black tiny card board box. I’m sure you got it but just haven’t found it since it just looks like part of the cardboard structure. For me it was where you place the wire part of the Dyson.

    Con la rosa no me pasaba,compro la nueva azul y al usarla a los 15-20 segundos a potencia maxima de calor,se enciende la luz….la devuelvo y me dan otra y lo mismo! Sin ningún accesorio no pasa,pero al poner el accesorio de secado o el cepillo sale la luz a los 15 segundos y solo se ha usado eso! El filtro está limpio,cual es la solución? Porque gastar ese dinero para secar a potencia baja no es rentable

      If your particular machine didn't include a filter cleaning brush, an old toothbrush would work fine for removing any clinging dust or fluff from the inner and outer mesh filters.

      From my correspondence with Dyson, you can use a new or lightly used toothbrush to clean the filter.

    I've cleaned this 3 times and the light is still flashing.. I don't understand why. Is anyone else having this problem?

      Hi Jessica, thanks for contacting us. We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with your Airwrap™ even after cleaning the filter. Could you please remove the filter and turn on your Airwrap™ without the filter attached and let us know if the lights are still coming on.

      @@dyson I’m also having this problem. The white light flashes despite having cleaned the filter thoroughly however when i remove the filter, the light does not flash.

    I just purchased dyson airwrap 3 weeks ago it started to give red blinking light after 5th use and stopped working. I cleaned, did troubleshooting and all. Does the same thing. Trying to get the problem resolved with customer service. If this keeps happening i probably will return
    It. Im writing this to warn others. You buy this expensive tool brand new and gives issues in 2 weeks makes me think now maybe i just should return it and it doesn’t worth it…

    mine just stopped working... I was halfway done with my hair and it won’t turn on. This is not worth your money.

      I had the same issue. Cleaned the filter as instructed, and it started working again.

    My motor died after 3 years of light use. I’m SOL because my warranty expired. Very unhappy with this device since it’s so expensive! Customer service doesn’t help only offers 20% off a new one if you place a phone order only .

    This product overheating every 2 min, and my filter is 100% clean! Don’t worth the price! And I only buy it month ago! Disgusting

    Dyson is the worse! I want a refund. I was advised to exchange my Airwrap since it stopped working or should I say only works for 10 seconds after the product was thoroughly cleaned. I only had this product for 2 months. I went to UPS to exchange and the reference number they gave me is wrong!! This happened on a Sunday that UPS had to close the doors on me since the Chat with Sundeep was going nowhere. He/She kept giving me the wrong reference number. I am so frustrated with the product and customer service. For $600 this is not worth it!!!!!!!
