I love that Mike Flanagan always likes to use the same actors from his previous shows. It really pushes the actors' acting range and it is so fun watching them act differently than their previous characters.
Yes... The same people sharing different dynamics.. It's actually really cool to watch... Also the characters change drastically really brings out the talent from the cast...
Kind of like American Horror Story…. Well exactly like AHS
I’m very excited to see what he does with mark hamil
Bryan Fuller does this as well. Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls, Hannibal, etc. He’s actually working with Mads on a movie. I wish Hannibal wasn’t cancelled, I would have LOVED to have seen Kristen Chenoweth as a serial killer.
I love it! i will miss Victoria Pedretti and Oliver Jackson-Cohen
Carla Gugino is just one of those actresses that I will watch in anything...something about her is insanely captivating on the screen.
She was phenomenal in Jett.
Pretty face and hot body. That's something

Carla is one of the most gorgeous women ever.
That, "When life gives you lemons scene " was remarkably put across, and so well thought out.
It talks about today's world
@@shfababy basically, yea
And the Madeline's monologue in the last episode.
@@williamcolgate5708 the monologue was epic, can’t be interpreted with several different meanings, our present day woe, churning out work force that can’t afford what they live for… need to write out the whole 2 minute or so monologue.
Couldn’t agree more. It was perfect.
I've loved horror for a long time but Flanagan introduced my favorite version of it; horror with a heart. It made me realise how any horror is overcome by being made meaningful , and when done so, has the capacity to heal the most damaged parts of ourselves. Monsters are not just monsters, they're mirrors, teachers and, in their own twisted right, healers. No one does a better job of showing us how than Flanagan
“Any horror is overcome by being made meaningful.” WOW! That is profound!!!! Truth
I truly love this comment
whoa deep comment!!!
Umm... What?
I 100% agree with this statement!
I used to be afraid (DEATHLY AFRAID) of horror and would avoid all things horror like a plague. And then The Haunting Of Hill House came out and it unlocked something in my brain. Now anything Flanagan is a MUST SEE. And I’ve actually gone back and watched numerous old horror flicks for fun and now have a greater appreciation for the genre. It’s not scary anymore. It’s art!
Thanks, Flanagan 😊
Right on point! ❤

I love how Flanagan single-handedly created some sort of Flanagan-verse. A movie world within movie world, and its got everything to do with him casting more or less the same group of actors. It creates some sort of familiarity and intimacy, like the one you might have with your favourite city theatre company. And I must say that Mark Hamill is a brilliant addition, I hope you stickes around.
Sounds like some sort of nasal issue
that's how It Always worked in theater companies, this Is the opposite of a -verse
Hamill really transformed for this role. I couldn’t believe it was him at first
I don't know how to explain this show but it was perfect. Every episode, every mystery and the right amount of hook this show has on you it was just perfect. Easily the best show I watched this year.
Best work I've seen in a very long time, maybe ever. The 'crossroads' scene in the bar was brilliant and a perfect play on the standard 'crossroads' story with modern generational strife .... it left me speechless ... so well done ...
I cranked up my NLP word counting program and applied it to the text of the eight episodes of this series. To my amazement the four letter f word or a derivative of it was uttered over 1200 times. This show is garbage! I'll stick to Virgin River and Heartland where you are rewarded with inspiration and a sense of well-being.

This was beyond my expectations. What a beautifully told modern version of classic dreary Poe poetry. All actors with incredible realism and authenticity. The messages told and learned in this story will touch many. Please support this director, production, and caster for the series. Awesome Gothic type horror with a modern twist. ❤
Just finished watching the series. The ending gave me goosebumps. It's truly a homage to Edgar Allan Poe 🙏🏼 I was tearing up at the respect and love this series gave to Poe's works. Especially since "The Raven" is one of my favorites. This truly is a masterpiece ❤

Great limited horror series interweaving our modern-day opioid crisis with a certain pharmaceutical family and company with Poe's stories. Love Carla Gugino, with her pre-death blow dialogues with the characters. That mirror death scene on the bed and orgy death scene in the club were iconic horror. Also, Kyleigh Curran who also played Abra in Dr. Sleep plays young Lenore, grandaughter of Roderick Usher. I didn't even know that was Mark Hamill playing the lawyer, Pym.
The mirror scene was fantastic. Maybe my favorite from the whole show. And the club scene was beautifully shot, but...yikes.
Wow just wow… Mike Flanagan absolutely blows me away. He is hands down one of my all time favorite directors/creators. I binged this entire show and I think this is the his best work since Hill House. The cast was killer and the cinematography was classic horror and just so brilliant. Mike Flanagan thank you 🙏
Agree. I am a big fan of his work.
I’m loving this era of Henry Thomas’s career…. He was underrated for most of his life because he was a “kid star”, but with Flanagan, he had had a chance to show what he is capable of. He will work for the rest of his life I believe. He has tremendous range.
Great observation and I completely agree. It's been fantastic to see his "renaissance" as an actor and to see him getting more and more opportunities worthy of his talent.
I hated his accent in Bly Manor though 😅

Midnight Mass was amazing. But it was a slight departure from his usual. Usher will be more like Haunting than Mass. Having said that, Usher will also have to live up to being a great modern take on Poe's tale too. So we'll see. The trailer makes it looks fantastic at least.

Flanagan changed the horror genre honestly. I always felt like a lot of horror was missing a central heart. I never feel very connected to characters. With Flanagan, I cry watching most of his works! Feels and frights together 🤝
The poems are masterpieces! A double treat: macabre, morbid story turns into a great beauty by sublime poetry❤️👍
Cannot wait! Love his shows. The dialogue in them is what I find the most impressive/interesting/emotional. The scene he had Stephen King read before creating Dr. Sleep, for example, and the monologues in Hill House in the last episodes. He should write a book! Midnight Mass moved me in an indescribably deep way, and it wasn't based on a book, obviously. It's cool he has actors that work with him in different projects, too.
@@mg-cx5tv I'm quite sure you mean the 'Midnight Mass' book that Flanagan meant to write, and ended up not writing and making into the show that we know?
@@mg-cx5tvif you are thinking about the vampire book midnight Mass involving vampires taking over entire continents and countries and there's a war or whatever Mike Flanagan's show has zero connection to that. Midnight Mass made me bawl my damn eyes out and but I have come to expect that with Mike Flanagan because I have cried watching everything he's done on netflix

What about Midnight Club series I heard that was amazing too!!!
Hell yes, love all the different Poe references. Flanagan doesn't just adapt, he creates a tribute to the author and the genre.
THIS. I’ve read of lot of criticisms of this for not adhering strictly to the source material, but I think they’re missing the point. Hill House and Bly Manor also took huge liberties with their sources, but it hardly matters because they were clearly made with lot of love and appreciation for Jackson and James. I doubt this will be any different.
@@jacobskinner3522 Agreed! I think that's what's so brilliant about his series. The way he weaves together different pieces of different stories by the same author and makes it into a coherent narrative is such a unique approach - and it always yields compelling stories that feel novel even when they are tales we know well. It's fantastic! Really looking forward to this one.
Plus making a whole series interesting out of just one Poe short story would feel stretched out and weird. Better to add in elements from thematically relevant works across Poe's catalog
You… you think this is a tribute to the genre of gothic horror?
Really?
This is closer to giallo than anything Quentin Tarantino has ever made and that’s saying a lot.
Exactly! He’s a creator that honors previous art that inspired him, but then is not bound to it and instead allows it to propel HIS story. He doesn’t do adaptations. Where’s the thrill in an ending already written and experienced? These are horror thrillers. The whole point is thinking you know what’s next and not only being wrong but being delighted by how wrong you were and much more amazing the story becomes as it unravels 🔥
Been waiting on this one for a while. SO excited to see what Mike has for us next!

@@mikemckenzie3175I think Midnight Club might’ve had too many hands in the pie. It didn’t feel like Flanagan’s work at all
This adaptation was amazing❤️the best series I’ve seen in a long time.
VERNA: I told one of my clients, "You could shoot somebody in the middle of 5th Ave and it wont cost you a thing."
ARTHUR PYM: Is his tab coming due any time soon? Even I have my limits.
Hopefully, Arthur. Hopefully.
This is one of those shows where you truly can't tell what the pace and direction it'll go in until you watch and I am here for it!
I literally cannot wait for this! Mike Flanagan is a master of his work
The deaths were so creative I love it!
Also the Ushers were all truly monsters
That Henry Thomas guy. Different shaped face, voice changed, movements, cadence. Quite a character actor. ( his Jack Nicholson was incredible too )
I love that he has brought back actors from Midnight Mass, 'the Hauntings', Doctor Sleep and even Midnight Club if I'm correct. So many amazing actors, I'm ready for it
Midnight mass you mean, yeah, some actors from that series are back
Not Victoria pedretti 😢
i noticed abra is also included
@felipepetersberchielli1651 No I meant Midnight Mass AND Midnight Club. If you've seen all his shows you'll know who I'm talking about
@@kailover1244 it would've been good to have her too, but I get the feeling she's booked and busy
As an admirer of both Edgar Allan Poe's works and Mike Flanagan's horror shows, I'm very much looking forward to watch this masterpiece.
What masterpiece? It has 0 to do with Poe s work - this is a caricature of modern and stupid times we live, nothing more, a disgrace.
@@crvladThe trailer alone literally references the Fall of the House of Usher, the Masque of the Red Death, the Raven, the Pit and Pendulum, and the Black Cat you vainglorious buffoon
Outstanding TV Series. All these dialogues and Greenwood acting just so good. Masterpiece.
Ok this isn't straight up giving me haunted house vibes but i can definitely tell that Mike Flanagan is involved because i recognise some actors. He has never disappointed so far so even if this isnt "The Haunting" season 3 i think it will perfectly splendid.
