In 10 th Grade in our German High School -
we had an over ambitious English Teacher

It instantly impacted me -

Gothic Passion. Melancholia. Gloom and Doom. Decrepitude. All is reclaimed by the moor.
Just need to record Wuthering Heights now!
I love it! 😊
The moor? Does this take place in England? I don't believe that Poe indicates where the story takes place.
Helped me get through the reading I needed to do. Sometimes these books are too dense when it’s late, thanks!
You’re very welcome! Hope this helped
Thank you, Elliott. 😊

Thanks for listening!
I really enjoyed this reading! Good job! I came to listen to this after reading, "The Fall" by Bethany Griffin. I wanted to learn more about the Usher's, and am thoroughly impressed with both authors. I'm a bit disappointed because neither of the tellings had cozy, happy endings but I shouldn't have expected that. Lol. Thanks for reading!
Great to hear you enjoyed the story, Cindy. Poe certainly isn’t much of a happy endings kind of guy 😂
I'm not sure of the other author, however, you should never come to expect "cozy" from Poe.
This is such an interesting story but unfortunately I got too cozy and slept through half of it.. Lol
😂 that’s more than allowed! So glad it helped you drift off ❤️📚
Great work of art! Going to recommend to my fellow Moms!!! 🥰😉🥳
That’s really kind of you! Thanks Jordan ❤️
Did you like the netflix show? I thought it was pretty good, with how it mixed a lot of his different stories together, i havent finished it at this time yet im on episode 5.
I must confess I haven’t watched yet! Heard some mixed reviews. Really looking forward to tuning in though.
@classicaudiobookswithelliot I just finished it not that long ago and my personal opinion is that it's really good, has some fun Easter eggs, can't wait to hear what you think

I just watched the first 4 episodes last night they were so damn scary
Obviously I've heard of Poe, but I never really read him before. Fixing that now
Thanks for listening, Chris!
Have you done any other of Poe's works?
Yes indeed! You can hear The Pit and the Pendulum, The Raven, The Black Cat and The Masque of the Red Death 💀
I have to read this story for my English class and it's due today and I have English first thing in the morning, I'm doomed
You can do it! It’s not that long a book. Good luck 😆
How did it go?
@@chrisjzh I got an A on that assignment but a P on the class, what does that mean??
@@ClarisesproooP means "Passing". Not a bad thing
Everyone should have read it at least three times before listening to the audiobook. However good interpretation may it be, it never ever paints the picture on the canvas of imagination, as unique perspective of the reader's personal emotions shaped by one's life experience would. We are getting way too lazy.
Thanks for listening, Pawel

Thanks for listening!
Roderick was walking hastily from chamber to chamber because of his emotional state of grief and panic for having lost his sister, right??
I’m not entirely sure Roderick knew much about his actions at all by this point 😬
“….poured forth one unceasing radiation of gloom”
Was Poe seeing my wife ?
Don’t get me wrong, on you go Edgar - braver man than me !!
Thanks for listening!
Never cared for this tale. I like most of Poe's work but this story is all tone, flat characters and almost no plot. Dull by comparison with Hop-Frog, Mask of the Red Death, Pit and the Pendulum, The Black Cat, Cask of Amontillado and Tell-Tale Heart.
I appreciate this recording, because I needed to "re-read" the text (I've read it several times over the years) and I don't think I could have forced myself to actually read it yet again.
Thanks for listening. There are recordings of several of these that you’ve suggested on the channel already, narrated by me, so feel free to check them out!
I only liked the voice of the speaker, not the story! I am not sure why people even like to listen to these types stories, maybe learning fancy vocabs.
Thanks for listening Jon. Glad you enjoyed the narration
The Netflix series bears no resemblance to Poe’s masterful work. Why can’t they leave the classics alone. Make your own damn stories. What’s next, a cartoon version of the “Red Death?”
Thanks for listening. Haven’t checked out the Netflix version yet, but am looking forward to it!
I think so far it's done a good job of staying true to the poem while also having its own spin on things. I do agree I hate remakes and such, but some of them are okay. This being one.
I actually really like the execution of the Netflix series. It takes ideas from many of Poe's works and wraps them together into this larger story. I personally am not super familiar with Poe's poems except for a couple I read in school. But from what I know almost every major character is named after someone from Poe's stories, and if you know the works going in you could see their fates coming and how they've been changed to fit this setting.
@Soup_of_goop so much from his works were intertwined with the story, the poem Annabelle Lee, lenore dying young. That murders of rue morgue, the black cat, obviously the raven lol. The tell tale heart. Soooo many stories I absolutely loved it. Even the jester is in one of his poems. Perry's name and his whole story. The name of their mom is poes actual moms name the cats name was Pluto, and that was poes cats real name. Arthur pyms expedition... like everything in that whole show was somehow connected to either poe or his works.
Creepy.
Sure is! Thanks Sam
