    I have all three KS sets (Dungeon, Town, Wilderness). Thanks for the vid about this new volume.
    The more I look at the tiles the more I am tempted to break the rings and cut out the excess edges to create loose tiles. The thing is I found that while the graphics on some of the excess edges are not essential, some seem actually contiguous (like walls and shelves).
    The major advantages of having loose individual tiles are for more sensible exploration, more accurate line of sight measurement (the edges are 1/4 inch only), and more flexible combinations (even allowing rotating the tiles).

    These books are really beautiful; i've got several of them and just looking at these books gives a lot of room for thought and fantasy. I use these for a small skirmish wargame elder scrolls Call to Arms and they work really well.

    Great review! This seriously helps me decide if products like this is worth buying.
    Like other reviews, yours is well discribes, reasons why or why not to get this product and how to use them. Like how a gamer would explain to newcomers or other gamer veterans.
    Please keep up the great work!

      This means a lot and that is exactly what I am trying to accomplish. Thank you so much for taking the time to give feedback because it really helps me know I'm going in the right direction and can try to get better from there!

    I do really love these books, but I wish the pages were easily removable so you could use some of the maps in the same volume together without having to own a second copy of both

    Would have loved these when I was playing a lot of dnd back in the day. We did a lot of hack and slash and having a wide variety of environments easily accessible would have been amazing!

    These look pretty good. They would work well with the current DnD campaign I'm running online and have thought about taking offline. Although I've already made maps, I don't have an easy way to take them offline, and I could definitely make these maps fit just about every encounter I've devised.

    I think Ash might like that new Assassin mini. Just a hunch lol. Nice overview as always. These are very cool and I wish I had the time to buy these and make up some HQ scenarios. I really like those castle maps and would love to see all four books combined to make a giant castle. I'm surprised no game companies have used this kind of system to make a dungeon crawler. Would be easy to tell a DM which pages to use and in what configuration.

      It's up to us then.
      Maybe there is a something very special we can do on this front as well. I'll look into the idea I'm having.
      I'll make up some castles and show then off in a other vid!
      It'd be a shame if it were invaded by assassins....

      @@AshQuest I think you said it in another video but we def could have used another assassin and some more Magus guards. I personally could have done with less Elf warriors and maybe one less cultist. Maybe.

    I have the 3 volumes of Loke's big maps. The binder can be annoying, which is why I removed it so I can use more of the maps with each other.

    • @sidtandy4333
      @sidtandy4333 Před 11 měsíci +1

      Was it the 2 combo set you removed the binder on or any of the Giant Book or Big book, releases?
      I bought the 3 Tiny books and cut them up, but they have a kind a kind of 1 ½ big square in the middle so they needed a bit of cuttting before I could use them in any good way.
      I've been thinking about cutting open on of the 2 book sets, but I'm a bit afraid that the holes will look bad and I don't find it worth the loss of "the book".

      It is from Ian Schofield's Beautiful Dungeon Mats, printed using Inkedgaming.

    I wonder what went through the minds of the creators to decide to make them into a book instead of a pack of lose battlemats.
    Imagine the huge amount of combinations that could be made if the maps weren't bounded.
    And yes, I know that someone can just break the binding, but that doesn't prevent it from being a bad solution to a problem that should not exist in the first place.

    • @AshQuest
      @AshQuest  Před 11 měsíci

      that's valid. I wonder if the D&D-minded customer is more a fan of this format, while modular adventure game players generally prefer loose tiled rooms and board pieces?

      @trevorclapham5571 Před 10 měsíci +1

      I am going to agree with content creator here and say the rings are a none issue. But I play 1e dnd so battle maps are helpful for encounters but theatre of the mind is paramount. Just like the miniatures we table are not always the correct exact miniature. We faced a carrion crawl but didn’t have the actual figure to represent the monster. Oh well no big deal just throw the displacer beast up to represent it. Paper tokens will work just fine too. My map is a hand drawn 1” grid that I got laminated. Have to draw everything out for a dungeon. Plus I believe loke said they made it in book format for ease of transportation and storage. I can understand some would not like it but for me it is just a cosmetic issue not functionality. I personally value functionality. If you want to get anal you could watch warlock’s channel and build every dungeon tile by hand to match the exact model or home made map you want to play.

      @arturferrao7353 Před 10 měsíci

      @@trevorclapham5571 I think you misunderstand me. I'm not complaining about the existence of the rings. I'm complaining about the impossibility of using the battlemats freely without damaging the book.

    • @trevorclapham5571
      @trevorclapham5571 Před 10 měsíci

      @@arturferrao7353 then you would be correct. I misunderstood. That would be a good idea actually. Like a 3 ringed binder you can open and close the clasps. It would increase your ability to make new combinations also.

    4:20 maps like that just don't make any sense. These are battlemaps. If I want a throneroom with absolutely nothing to interact with except for a damn chair, I can just use my regular blank map and draw a chair and carpet myself...
