Great video and build. The alternative to this would be to buy a 3s Big Rock and install the center module as it already has the wider arms and handles better than the Granite due to its longer wheelbase.

Awesome video. Thanks for the great content. I started out in January with an HBX something or other and quickly moved to a Granite. Super happy with my decision. I’ve done the wide arm boost kit but looking to do the center diff next. This is exactly what I needed.

I did the same upgrades to my Vorteks. It made the truck way better and was super simple.
Ya I was debating whether to do this to the vorteks or the granite, but my vorteks has much better ground handling so I chose this one!

Sweet! Ya that’s true I should have talked more about that. To me it made the granite a clear winner. It’s so much faster and more powerful than the MT and now it also has the better handling.
I just came across this video this morning and will definitely do the wider stance mod (minus the center diff for now ) I got a brand new Granite 3s still in the box lol , been playing around with my thypoon 3s lately and got the Granite from Towerhobbies a couple months back at a great deal @$240 tax and shipping included. Love all your videos and the fact your boys join in the fun of the RC world , wish my boys would have join me but they're not in to my RC fun addiction ( Racing drones , planes , helicopters , cars and trucks) well thanks for all the good and fun videos you put out and happy bashing.

I've been trying to work out if I should get a Big Rock and try to jam a centre diff in it, or grab an Rival MT10 and sick it on a Pro4 SC10 chassis.
Leaning towards the Big Rock now.
I’d do the big rock I think. Faster and crazier than the mt10. Still love the mt10 though!!
Iv been enjoying the RC toys . Got a Kraton 6s and love it . Servo got replaced and the front center bone got bent back into shape . One of the rear tires is a little wobbly . That carbon fiber Rlaarlo though is also a sweet one . Smooth , quiet , quick , handles really good for a smaller guy imho oh and I changed my first diff and and got to do the spider gear thing , lol . Things are coming along nicely thanks to vids like this and I m getting closer to feeling comfortable with breaking stuff I know can be replaced . Hopefully stuff doesn’t break all the time though . I had a zee 3s 2200 in the hbx16980sa is what I think blew that rear diff apart . They have a battery that fits in 3s now . Have a great weekend dude

Time to go watch the Kraton 6 s stuff . I was wondering . My wheels looked Marty Feldman but I turnbuckled them to more straight with the cpl degree negative leaning in . I honestly can’t tell much of a difference . That damn rlaarlo though cake set up perfect . I don’t even know how to adjust the steering yet but I did learn to set the remote down after the Kraton 6s launched into my truck bed from the tailgate 😂. I can’t be the only one . Safety first . The big ones can be dangerous imho in the wrong hands . I still don’t know why people stand in front of them . Have a great weekend bro .

This a great quick project that seems to really improve the drivability. It jumps extremely well. There will be many people who will go out do the conversion after watching this video. Great idea.

@@DerbyCityRC I thought of question. When you added the longer arms and turnbuckles, did you still have enough room on the slider drive shafts to the wheel without them coming apart?
@michaeldorich4485 yes, I was able to use the same shafts. The typhon (what these arms are made for) even uses the same shafts.

It was my 1st non Traxxas 4WD RC. The Arrma “Mega” Granite before they were Brushless 😊 I had it converted to brushless but there were a lot of problems with it being brushless back in 2018 but I kept at it and loved it! Then I finally got the BLX. The Granite and Redcat MT10E are my all time favorite Skate Park rigs!

You could just add a center diff or add on road wheels. It has the best stock suspension of any 10 scale monster truck I’ve ever encountered! 😊 if you ever find a skate park the MT 10 and the granite are kings oh and of course the rival!
Haven’t checked in a while but the center diff was discontinued I think 😕

Any recommendations on replacement tires? Mine got eat up on the gravel.
Oh ya gravel does tear these up quick. Especially the Senton tires. So most people recommend proline badlands it seems. Just haven’t tried yet but that may be what I go with.

hey mate i ordered oil shocks absorber for my JJRC Q130, can you suggest me which grade oil i should use in them?
Well I just used the shocks form the hypergo and I’m. It sure what oil is in them. Probably closer to 50-80wt if you want to do big jumps, but otherwise maybe 30wt. Trial and error you really just need to see what you like best. I usually go with one of those 3 weights.

Just the shock mount screws, but the rear diff cups are wearing out fast, yeah I ordered some parts for it, I just don't wanna kill it but can't stop jumping, it's too fun lol
I think its a bit of a learning curve too, I'm fining more and more info like you said, they all break, they all have weak points you need to beef up

Got a question, putting a 2847 5300 kv motor in my amx12 and set my gears with the stock 27t pinion and 30t spur. I kept the stock esc which is 45a. Do you think I should get a bigger esc for the setup or the stock is good enough? It seems to not stop as quick as it did before.
I’m not a huge fan of that esc. Especially if you’re running 3s, I’d get a good quality 60 amp. Just gotta make sure it will fit where you want it to go and that it will hook to the motor.

Excellent upgrades thx 4 sharing. Fyi... Pool closing next year with ball in middle of pool. You'll see much easier when removing the cover. And prevents stinky water going in pool why uncover.
Thanks! There actually is a ball under the pool cover it’s just not tall enough and shifts to the side (I did a terrible job securing it in place). We drained the water to just under the fill tube so it’s not tall enough. I’m still working towards a better idea for next year but possibly 4 of those pool pillows to make a pyramid lol.
Or a few lengths of rope stretched over the top for the cover to rest on. 😆🧠

Yes! The spectrums, and Zeee batteries both fit. It’s right at 5-7/16 inches long.

5-7/16 in he’s is right at 138mm. So it will fit, but might be tight. Having the battery cables come from the top of the battery and not out of the end would be very helpful.

Will the stock center slider driveshaft fit? If not what do I order? 2nd. Yes the telescoping axles and the spring-loaded center drive shaft all still work perfectly. So you should be good if HH has the screws. I guess I didn’t pay attention to that. Jenny’s takes all the screws and sells them in a kit (greedy! 🤣)
My countersinks were bought from Home Depot, but this one is what I would use. No need for it to have the drill bit on it, I just couldn’t find mine that day (I did right after of course when I wasn’t even looking). amzn.to/4dDDM0E

@benlandrum75 that sliding block, I found out, was actually supposed to ship with the diff housing from Jenny’s. I emailed them and told them it was missing and they sent it out for me. That was after they first sent me the completely wrong center diff too and corrected that problem as well the week before lol

I am happy to report that they do work!
Using the HBX shock screws and some very small washers with a 2.5mm-3mm hole, they fit great! The rears could use a washer or two as a spacer/stand off on the bottom but looks like not completely necessary!! They’re slightly longer so it will give it just a little more ride height. I didn’t drive it with them on as the 2996a is not currently driveable lol. After you install them, do a little bit of trial and error to see if you need to put thinner fluid or adjust the springs. The terminator is heavier so it’s possible a little tuning may need to be done. Thanks so much!!!

enjoyed the video, but would rather just buy a car already with the center diff and wider stance. I will admit, I did the wider arms on mine, but I don't see the center diff being worth it on this car given the fit issues. However, I do think I'll be taking my BIG Rock to the next level by installing a center diff. 🙂

I’m pretty sure you will still need to grind down the chassis for the big rock. Not sure if the battery tray is longer on the BR or not, but yes it would very well be worth it on that too!!

I am poor and thought the 3s Granite would be a fun RC for my poor ass.
I replaced the plastic spur with a steel one, sunk $100 more into metal diffs, and now my slipper clutch never stays tight.
It drives ne crazy, and there are so many different slipper parts on the arrma website, no explanation of what goes with what, they don't even tell you the effing materials the parts they sell are!
I want to end my nightmare with a center diff.

I'm also a complete noob when it comes to wrenching, but I'm addicted to driving my RC. I drive it every other day, and the slipper seems like a garbage cheap-ass copout, and I'm never going to like it. I need something reliable like a center diff.

I'd love to wide body my granite but for now I need to figure out the heat issue. It's brand new and gets so hot the battery wires are almost to hot to touch. I'm running 80c hoovo 3s batteries. And even tried 60c hilldow 3s. It's the same with any battery
Did you check the drive train for any unusual resistance?
@@rantsandreviews Ive checked the slipper both diffs and everything else i could think of. Just gets blazing hot so fast. My Outcast doesnt do this.
@@frebify If you have another motor install it and see if it still get's hot.
Are you using batteries with the EC5 or IC5 connector? It can do that if you have deans plug batteries and use an adapter to hook to the ESC.
If not, like Rants said, make sure each individual wheel turns freely and that the car is easy to roll on the floor by hand. I small bit of resistance from the motor is normal but should still roll easily.
Checking the motor pinion to spur gear mesh for being too tight is another thing.
If all that checks out, warranty possibly?

I did this with my bigrock 3s minus the center diff that came out after like right after ha ha thats my luck! I got the 6s kraton 1 week before the exb came out ha ha

If you're widening a Granite, why not just get a Big Rock? It's already got wider arms stock and a longer wheelbase for less wheelies.
Me and others like the short wheelbase for the flips. Plus a lot of people already have a granite. Still a good option though.
