#INEOS #Grenadier #IneosGrenadier - Auta a dopravní prostředky
They quote 0-62mph because what they actually measured was 0-100kph. Same thing.
But some children are ignorant.
A mate of mine took delivery of his about a month ago. Loving it. We are organising a 4x4 day end November. Ineos, Rubicon, new Defender, old Defender, Toyota Land Cruiser 200. It’s going to be fun.
I always wondered why Land Rover didnt opt to preserve the classic front design of the car and just modernize it. Ineos Grenadier proved that it is possible and I prefer this design over the New Land Rover's front designs. I think it was a missed opportunity.
0-62 measure is because the vehicle is British/European so base is KM and 62 MPH is 100 KM/H
us Brits use MPH........
@@MrEnglischjules We use both, depending on where you are, if you're in England, then it's more likely to be just MPH though. If you're by the coast, then you might see more of a mix.
@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks What??!! I live on the South Coast. No-one uses kph. Apart from continental visitors of course.
The UK is fairly inconsistent with measurement units
@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks Trucks are in kph but otherwise no. Are you referring to occasional signs being in kph and mph in the vicinity of some ports and the chunnel?
Looks as if a Land Rover and a G-Wagon had a baby!! And I like it 😬
I spec’d one out and fitted very similar to the one you tested and that thing was around $90,000 before taxes. When they were first flirting with us on the Grenadier it was supposed to be affordable. It was supposed to be from what they were hinting at about $30,000 LESS than what they brought it to market for. It’s hard to convey it in text but the numbers just simply don’t add up.
When did they announce it? Like 5-7 years ago? Have you been living under a rock since then? Do you not recall a global pandemic? Do you not recognize record high inflation? Have you not been paying attention to the entire housing and car market? Everything costs significantly more than what it did 5 years ago. Hello McFly…
"Affordable" compared to a G-Wagon.
With broncos and jeep wranglers coming in at 50-60k with lockers, 73k for a grenadier with lockers isn’t out of pocket.
Also, Grenadier allows you to pick basically any option you want without gating them behind a trim level. They did a lot of things right but obviously it is expensive.
The f’d up the pricing royally. But they’re British so I guess that makes sense. 😂
@@jimmy-buffett probably biggest problem is some Americans will glady pay the $100k just because people will think they're driving a G wagon. So many other, more comfortable, better driving, equally capable options. I don't see this being successful at that high price point.
The front end Looks like how the defender should look like
Without doubt this is the very spiritual replacement for the past Land Rover defender!.,& I have no doubt it is more durable than the current one.
I beg to differ. The old one is a gem. This one is complete trash. Look at overseas reviews.
It’s made from a lot of different parts bins and doesn’t quite work, to low to heavy, poor steering, exposed steering damper, guards front and rear will stop it dead, RHD driving position is dreadful, who puts a BMW engine in a supposedly ROW vehicle, dreadful MPG, a 4wd De Lorean . New Defender is light years ahead.
Bwahahaha!!! Good one about current Defender being light years ahead. Maybe in time spent at dealership getting repairs…….
I'm number 68 in line out of CO Springs. Looking forward to driving mine off the lot.
Awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Looking forward to when TFL off-road take this vehicle to be seriously off road tested.
We 100% need an Ineos Grenadier vs Toyota Land Cruiser vs Toyota GX video when they are all released!!!
Land Cruiser is battle tested and used in wars, there is no comparison
@Mac1Eleven the new landcruiser is almost a direct comparison with the Grenadier. At least here in the states.
@@Mac1Eleven so was landrovers but lots of people complain about reliability
Thow it's hard to old defender that hasn't dun over 300k

@@Mac1Eleven terrorists don't count.
I love the analog knobs. It's a great look. Like a chrome stereo from the 90s
Wow - I never saw the Grenadier before and I’m impressed. It looks very well appointed and the Land Roverish looks are cool. Love the three locking differentials!
Well the middle one doesn't really count that just makes it actual four-wheel drive out of it's already all wheel drive so really I would just say it has two lockers and four-wheel drive
I was onboard 100 percent, wasn't happy with the new defender, and this was going to be the answer. Idk just kinda fell out of love with it. The engines, along with the price, changed, and i just lost my enthusiasm and went in a different direction. Its definitely cool, i hope they sell a ton of them and make Land Rover get back to their roots.
The Grenadier is evidence that constant "improve, improve, improve" makes people want to go back to basics and originals. Offroaders should be made to go offroad and get there, not have TV screens and other fancy stuff! We're a fan of the older, simpler 4x4s and never thought we'd ever want a new one, especially when Land Rover killed the OG Defender. But we'd 100% buy one of these!
Ineos got all the basics right.
I'm in LOVE!!! Bye bye Land Rover 😢if I could build my own truck this is what it would have been!
The IG is British inspired, but German engineered by the same company that has built the G wagon for 40+ years, Magna Steyr. Other than the G wagon. I’m not familiar with any other vehicle that offers three locking differentials in the United States. Yes, the price is high, but if you compare it to loaded wranglers or broncos, it is possible to spend the same amount of money, which is a lot
Actually its not even close to Wranglers and Broncos in price when similarly equipped. A 85- 90K Wrangler or Bronco, which is the cost of the one he was driving, gets you a LOT more stuff.
@@dadventuretv2538 Yes, definitely trade offs are everywhere in these decisions. So you can get the 392 V8 in the Wrangler and the Bronco Raptor package, which are amazing offerings. Those models get you easily into the $70-$90k range of the IG. The trade off is that the IG has 3 lockers. Just one example when looking at power train comparisons.
@@dadventuretv2538
It does not get you more stuff for overland ranging. It is all about personal choice.
It’s a “poor man’s” G Wagen?
@@oscarwinner2034 could be !
Nice job on the review. If I had a need for a serious off roader this might be on my list.
I love everything about this thing. Especially that it's not ONLY Electric. It is perfect. Except the price...Now if I could "afford" one I probably wouldn't make this gripe. But nothing new like this vehicle is reasonably priced. Regardless, I really hope Ineos does well here in the US.
This is the only vehicle I can think of besides the Wrangler that has a solid axle and diff lock on both the front and rear. That alone makes it great in my book
Edit: I forgot about the Power Wagon and didn't specify I meant current vehicles
80 series Land Cruiser had triple lockers.
@@fritty9927 thought I didn't have to state the obvious, but I meant modern vehicles
Suzuki Jimny has solid axles, but no lockers unfortunately.
I want to say the Ram power wagon has them too.
@@yissibiiyte from the other comments I guess you needed to say “currently “. 😄😄. It’s all good
0-62mph times are just a conversion of the 0-100kmh time, which is what they actually measure in.
Those of us who work in the aviation community will love the flight deck panel reminders everywhere on that!!

Cool vehicle - like you said, it's kind of like what the Land Rover Defender should have been. I'll be interested in seeing your towing test of your upcoming vehicle, and want to know if it requires premium fuel or not, fuel tank size, etc.
I just didn't understand the attraction control turning off in off-road mode Because unless it's stability control you actually want brake traction control off-road it works amazing and eliminates the need for a locker most of the time some people would be going in and out of a locker when the missing link is quality traction control like Land Rover. I've seen videos of this thing tested in Australia with off-road traction control working perfectly so I'm not sure maybe he meant to say stability control
@@ronaldrrootiii6040 Sometimes you want to allow some wheel spin off road, which traction control prevents, and is not going to be dangerous at typical off road speeds. A decent driver with a little bit of experience is always better than a TC system off road...
@toobalicious -- From what I read somewhere, the founder of INEOS was disappointed with the new Defender, so he set up this venture to build what he wanted the Defender to be...
@@ronaldrrootiii6040 Traction control is really for street use, and gravel roads. Once the trail gets going you want 4x4 and lockers.
Sweet - need to see one in person!
Great review Alex! Awesome vehicle too. I may have to check one out!
There is a lot of things I like about these. But I would have trouble trading in my Wrangler for one mostly because of things like, parts availability. When I break stuff on my Wrangler, parts are super easy to find. If you break an axle shaft in one of these, its going to be tough to find parts. I also dislike the lack of a proper gauge cluster. However, I LOVE the looks, and all the physical switches. Which makes the digital screen for the gauges even more weird.
Yes, I dislike the daft placement of the speedometer etc.. I suspect it is down to Radcliffe's sense of nostalgia for the first Land Rovers which also had the speedometer in the centre as did many older UK built vehicles. The Mini being the most notable perhaps. As a Welshman, I can confirm that the English very much like to live in the past. Sometimes that's good and sometimes that's not so good.
@@andrewjones-productions I'm guessing that it also helps with the right hand drive-left hand drive swap if all of the important stuff stays in the center and just the small display has to be moved.
I am test driving an Ineos next week and have a reservation in.. This was very helpful
I've had my eyes on the Ineos for some time. Thank you for this review, it's reinforced my interest in some ways, flagged caution in others (mileage being one concern). It would be good to see it handling tougher terrain. Cheers from Sydney - Dave
They've done a good job making it seem rough and tough, mechanical, and analogue. In reality it has the same complex electronics and systems as every other vehicle.
Compared to vehicles like the new Defender the electronics are very basic. The only "complex" electronics are things like engine management and ABS etc, stuff that all new vehicles have to have to pass safety and emission laws. Other than that everything else like the transfer case, diff locks and suspension are all mechanical.
@@majnuprasadhola435 I've had a look at one and it's no more "luxury" or "complicated" than any other mid range new car. In fact even the high end Field master version is very basic when compared to a real luxury SUV like a Range Rover.
I test drove one at the Houston dealer, Mossy and then put in an order for a Trialmaster. Off-road it’s as capable of anything from Jeep but roomier and it feels like a tank- no loose anything, creaks…at $80-85K it’s a bit pricier than a fully loaded Rubicon X but also seems better put together.
Red Nolan, very good review perspective on the Ineos. As a Wrangler and side by side owner you offer me valuable incites to the valued abilities of the Ineos. I am very tempted by this vehicle.
Looking forward to ours! & our next adventure next year on the Pan-American hwy after the Northwest passage! &❤it's reviewed by our favourites😊😂
For a starting price of $71k on this thing that dashboard setup is pretty low rent. If I'm seeing it right there's not even a speedometer in front of the wheel which would be easy to remedy if they'd swap that 90's era "information screen" out for another standard display. 14 mpg is horrendous and I'm sure could be improved if they would let you take the vehicle out of 4WD mode for the street. I do like the look though. Looks like a combo of a G-wagen and a Defender.
Do you know what would happen if you put twist locks on the front hubs?
The dash is designed like an aircraft to where you can remove panels to add switches etc. Very utilitarian over style for sure.
@@lamarzimmermanmennonitefar5269 It would get better fuel economy and slightly better performance. Manual locking hubs are nothing new but we demand always-locked axles for convenience so we don't have to get out into the snow or mud to lock it.
No, manual locking hubs do not increase fuel efficiency.
The presenter did a great job. Good to see how well he and Cole do their jobs!!!
It’s a cool truck, have seen it myself and I like it. 14mpg is a deal breaker though. Is that going to be
i have a badlands bronco it gets around 15mpg stock
I'm confused how a b58 powered vehicle gets almost half the mpg of the BMW x5 with the same powerplant. I definitely expect worse with the weight and lack of aerodynamics but not that bad.
Heavier car, different drivetrain, fulltime AWD, gear ratio, tire size/weight, engine mapping, aero…
The only thing they have in common is the base engine.
They're selling through established dealers.
Same, my 5th gen 4Runner gets about 15 mpg lifted and loaded with KO2s. This thing looks like it has less ground clearance and gets less mpg. Looking at the new landcruiser to do hopefully about 20mpg after mods
Great Video! Thank you!
Test drove one Saturday. Set for delivery in April. The steering seemed a little tight. Like the steering box nut was overtorqued. Rode great, though, and had plenty of power.
Set for delivery to the dealer, or set for delivery because you plan to purchase?
@@HarryKuloh That's the expected arrival at the dealership.
It doesnt have the correcting caster; by design for offroad use.
@colinmccrindle7102 I proposed that could also be the issue to the Ineos rep. It tracked straight though, which would be hard with 0 caster.
WOW what a nice off-road video 👍
That's very brave of Ineos to bring such a vehicle onto the market as a new development. Who else does that these days? But you should talk about the curb weight. All the solid components plus safety equipment add up to a lot. There isn't much weight reserve left when equipping properly for travel adventures.
The payload is actually pretty good on these, it’s 1670lbs.
Ineos did a lot of things that people ask for: make a barebones stripper available, not gate options behind trims, put in heavy duty solid axles/other gear, design around DIY. Then it turns out it’s expensive to do that and people get upset.
@@banebanebane that w or wo things like the winch, ladder, snorkel, etc etc?
@@Cocky.Rooster that’s without basically anything except an optional paint color and locker.
The ladder and snorkel don’t add much, the winch is a killer and adds $7k ($5k for the winch+$2k for electrical prep)
Pleased you like it

Good Review 🇬🇧👍
Great information man, well done. Sub'd.
Thanks for the sub!
Nice running boards 😂🤔 gonna go crunch!
I like the Ineos but my biggest concern is availability of replacement parts (windshield, front quarter panel, etc). Being built in a Mercedes plant helps big time. Of course, with the UAW strike parts will also be a problem with the big three.
UAW strike probably means I will be buying a Frontier or Tacoma instead of a Ranger or Canyon. The big three are going to have to offshore their manufacturing to get around the unions.
@@jeffk464
I do like the frontier pro-4X over the new Tacoma just for the proven v6/9sp offering.
@@jeffk464 The UAW's greed will hopefully kill it and probably take the Big 3 with it. They're probably regretting allowing the UAW to take root. Every non-union car I've been in was better built for the same money than the union cars.

What an amazing rig, this is what Land Rover should be
Yeah that is the story of why they made it actually specifically on purpose because the new Defender sucked
Land Rover can’t make new defender fast enough!
They look like an older Range / Land rover? Or is it me? I think they look great!!
If you go back a few years and watch the story about the making of this thing it was that when the defender came out all modern and electronic with no solid axles a wealthy businessman went to Land Rover and asked if he could buy the rights to the defender body because they were so disappointed in the new Defender and Land Rover said no but they pretty much copied it anyways because this was meant to tell Land Rover what they should have done with the defender and the Grenadier was the name of the bar they thought of this idea in
The safari windows are cool. I use the freedom tops on my Jeep way more than dealing with removing everything. I'd like that body/interior on a wrangler rubicon suspension.
this is so beautiful like the land rover from the 70 s beautiful

nice vehicle ineos.
I don't understand why the side steps are so low. I'm sure it makes it easier to get in and out, but they won't last long off-road.
Would have been a good candidate for all those 5.7s that Toyota just threw in the dumpster out back of the Tundra plant.
I love these rigs; however I don't know what possessed INEOS to put the speedometer on the center screen instead of on top of the steering wheel. It just seems unsafe to me to have to look that far over from the road to see what speed you are running at.
Its surprisingly EASIER to read where it is at. Caught me off guard as well. But with out the steering wheel blocking the speedo, and having it right on the corner of the screen it is actually easier to read.
I have a tesla with the same configuration and its second nature now. Zero issues and almost feels more natural looking over than looking down.
Having to sand and repaint your wheels every few years is a great feature. Steelies are awesome 👌
I've seen the coating peel off 3yo alloys and wire wheeling rust is easier than welding up and machining curbed alloy rims.
Use a 2k epoxy paint is better than the weasel piss that most modern paints are, especially water based paints🤮
Just replace them when you put new tires on lol. If you're buying a vehicle like this then you can afford it.
change rim colors
Why do you need to sand and paint the wheels? I had a Defender with steel wheels for 16 years and never touched them. The truck is a tool, not a jewel.

Idk? I like the design of my new Defender 90 more than I like this. I mean if you just want to keep that classic old defender look it’s fine but prefer the looks and clearances far more on my Defender 90. I have close to 13” of ground clearance before even going to off-road height currently. I would like to see a head to head on the Lexus, Toyota, Bronco, and Ineos. I am 55k miles into my Defender without a single issue. I’m sure the Grenadier has just as many electronics and bits that can go wrong as well so I will wait and see. Where would you get service on these? It looks like a great vehicle for the people it’s a good fit for. Just looks a little low on ground clearance. It will take quite a few bucks to get this built for solid off-road use. It’s already 90k without being fully spec’d. You would probably land around 110k. Hopefully the aftermarket comes fast and furious with parts for this. I hope they turn out great. Will just need to wait and see.

Nothing more true than the statement “The Land Rover, Land Rover should’ve built, but we got something else.”

With it's base weight, I would be curious to see what the snow and mud capability looks like when fully loaded up. Those wheel wells don't look like they can handle a much bigger tire than what is already provided, so I would just be curious about that.
You can run 34" tires stock, lift 40mm springs and you got 35+.
So the Grenadier is in between a Wrangler and a G Wagon. It has interior space closer to a G yet plenty of off road capability.
