    Really enjoyed seeing the area again after so many years! I first found the hot springs back in 1970, before overnight camping was the new rule. Back then, all the hippies were nude, we spent the night there numerous times. We'd fill our drinking bottles upstream. At some point maybe around 1972, a young visitor got sick and died from drinking the water and that changed everything. The Rangers would hike in every evening to chase all the folks out. I'd always heard of the way in from Arrowhead, but we always entered from the Desert side, passing through Bowens ranch, where the lady there would charge a dollar to cross her land. Thanks for the video!

      My pleasure, thank you for watching. Things haven’t changed much, you’ll still see nudists there, people drinking, smoking pot and spending the night ( even if is not allowed )

    There is a better way. Just before you go down that super steep section, the trail has a fork. If you take the left fork, you skip the super steep section and come out on the PCT, maybe a quarter mile west of where the steep section comes out. It is a little bit longer but much much easier.

    How close are the hot springs to the cool water where you swam?

    • @lopezexplora
      @lopezexplora  Před 10 měsíci

      Right next to it! You get out of the hot springs 2 or 3 feet and jump into the creek

    Is this a good spot visit in July?

      I personally don’t like hiking on a hot day to a hot spring, but you are welcome to do so just make sure to start very early since temperatures reach over 100 degrees and there isn’t any shade. If you must then bring lots and lots of water!! My suggestion is take the shorter hike coming from Bowen Ranch that requires a $10.00 fee last time I checked. Thank you for watching, check my other videos too!!

      July?? You mean during a hot day in Summer? No.
      I wouldn't suggest hiking on a hot day. Walking downhill to the hot springs area maybe doable but walking out, back to the trailhead would be impossible in the heat.
