I'm reading "Their Eyes Were Watching God" right now - I have about 40 pages left. Beautiful prose - I want to read more from the author. The Toni Morrison books in your TBR are both excellent. Looks like you are going to have a great line-up for February. Happy Reading! 😎📚👍
Yes February is shaping up marvelously.. I really enjoyed beloved’s message but I have to admit it was really difficult to read.
This past month I read: The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride, Maame by Jessica George. Highly recommend both of those!!! TBR: Take My Hand by Dolen Perkins-Valdez. The re-read I would like to get to is If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin.
Caste is mind blowing!!! Also, you should read The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson. Both of her books won the Pulitzer Prize.
I know it’s going to be, I’m super excited about it. I also have her other book as well. I might tackle that one sometime this year.

📚
I'll be reading (continuing) a short story collection titled Four Hundred Souls, River Sing Me Home, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and Don't Cry for Me
Those sound great! I would love to hear about the Henrietta Lacks story. Happy reading!
I'm definitely inspired to buddy read The Death of Vivek Oji now, I've had it on my shelves, haven't felt strong enough to read it until now. We got this!
Yes read it this month so we can chat in the comments!!!
Their Eyes Were Watching God is on my tbr for the year but I may move it up to February. You inspired me to read Beloved. I've been a little nervous to read it since watching the movie years ago.
I just finished it today.. it was good but I have some thoughts. Filming my January wrap up today, will discuss it then. Yes we can definitely chat about Beloved sometime this month.
You were in my recommended and I subscribed - I love your videos! That book about Alice Walker sounds so interesting! I’ll have to see if I can get my hands on it somewhere. I have Seven Days in June but have yet to read it - so I’m going to try to read it this month too. For me, I’m definitely reading some James Baldwin this month and I’m really looking forward to that. I hope you have a great reading month!
I'm sooo glad you're here and that you love my videos, lol I'm smiling so hard right now! Yes read seven days!!! You're gonna love it. I gotta pick up Baldwin sometime soon myself, I think I want to try Giovanni's Room. Again so glad you're here and please don't be a stranger!
Those are some oldie but goodies that everyone should read.
Yellow Wife and The Sweetness of water
I have to check those titles out.
I read two Toni Morrisons last year. Home was not set in Ohio. I don’t remember where Recitatif was set. Both were good but Recitatif was quite interesting trying to figure out which girl is white and which is Black. Morrison never says. It’s all about the reader’s preconceived ideas of color and class.
My next book is going to be The Bluest Eye.
Oh The Bluest Eye was a doozy. I read that back in 2022. It was hard to read but I so love it. Also, Sula is an all time fave of mind. Looking forward to Beloved.
Great video filled with awesome books i’d like to try❤
I am reading the third book in the Bridgerton series it is called Bridgerton An Offer From A Gentleman Benedict's Story by Julia Quinn
Lol u do have the best taste in books ❤ hope u enjoy them all! Especially the isabel wilkerson - so good. Ahhh ur getting me to think about my feb reading already!!! 🤔
So excited about Caste. I heard the movie Origins is based on it.
@@jadeddiamonds9983yes it is! Like a fictionalized version of the nonfic book 🤔 id be v interested in how duvernay approached it
I hate I haven’t read it yet in order to go ahead and see the movie. But I feel I should wait.
Sis, I need you to make a Goodreads!
I do have one but I primarily use story graph. I guess I need to switch lol.
I’m reading caste this month too☺️
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts. I’m going to do a vlog on it.
road to 1.k

✨🎧✨For Their Eyes Were Watching God do yourself a favor & get the audio version read by the one & only Ruby Dee. You will expand your experience of that awesome text. Hugs dear one. PS. When I first heard it I had it on cassette…LOL I’m 61 & I thought I was doing something. 😂✨🎧✨
Noted. Just borrow it from the library l, going to read both along side one another.
Could you post the name of author for the Alice Walker text, please? I'm an Alice Walker fanatic and didn't know about this particular book.
Sure, Donna Haisty Winchell.
@@jadeddiamonds9983 Thank you!
