I live in Firenze and I love it… but summers are tough. They are always hot and humid, but this summer was pure hell. 35-40+ degrees every day for weeks and weeks and weeks with no break. 🔥🔥🔥

I just came back from a month in Italy and I agree, groceries are so cheap and good quality! I miss that. Still chomping on salame, mortadella, and porchetta that we brought to the U.S.
Yummm! Yes I’ve kind of outgrown my sweet tooth which was always the thing I’d look forward to/miss from home… not this year though, not with inflation the way it is… loving these two euro food stuffs

Lovely to see how supermarket shopping is in your area of the world. I had no idea. It looks like an 'honor system'; The scanning and checkout. No employees? Thanks for sharing.
Yes there are the normal checkout with employees or you can chose the self checkout
At Esselunga there are 3 types of check outs, normal, self check out and self check out for members. In the self check out for members, since the whole point is being really fast, you scan as you shop and just pay the total when you leave BUT they do have random checks.
As far as I can remember they’re the only grocery store that has that extra tier/experience for members

It’s nice to keep up with you on CZcams again. I’ve deleted my Instagram. In London UK we’ve enjoyed an extra hot 🥵 summer. Temperatures went above 40 degrees in July. Italian friends have told me Italy’s been unbearably hot 🥵. I loved shopping in Esselunga when I was In Varese. It was super cheap

Once you start a family, you'll appreciate buying in bulk especially if you have the space. I'm single and i use to purchase my toothpaste and other toiletries in bulk (as well as dry goods) at Costco or Sam's, and the only thing I had to worry about was my weekly grocery shopping for fresh veggies and fruits.
I've been in Europe for 3.5 years and still hate going to the stores so often due to lack of space, and Switzerland is to expensive for the things I'm use to (or you just can't find them at all)

Wine is so much more affordable and better tasting/quality in Europe. Is Enrique scanned the groceries with his phone to get points or does the store give you that upon entry? What’s it for? I’m just guessing it’s for points.
Hi! It's for scanning products so you don't have to go to a cashier because the scanner will do it for ya! You just have to scan the barcode on each products and then you have the total amount at the end. You go to a special area where you can pay. It's very practical so you don't have to queue and you can already put things in bags and don't have to put them out
Yes it’s for points and also a speedy self check out reserved only for members, there’s also a self check out for non members and a normal checkout with physical cashiers…Esselunga really knows how to create a unique experience 😀

Hey Tia. Random but where are the veggies/ fruits? Are you both not veggies and fruit lovers? Just curious cause in Rome, most of my time is spent in the fruits and veggie section, cause in America fruit and veggie prices are to the roof! so I splurge here.
We didn’t do a real grocery because we were leaving for Fano the next day, this was for dinner, lunch the next day and Snacks for netflix 😅 even the fact that we only bought 4 eggs … one day I’ll take you guys on a real grocery trip!
