Building the hearth wall, installing screens and I tidy the moss on the front of my cozy log cabin!

In this episode I finish the wall surrounding the hearth, but the weather is too cold to do more mortar work. The last gap between the hearth and the log wall will need to wait until spring.
The hearth itself also needs more work done. It leaks smoke in a few spots and the front opening is too tall. Smoke pours out the front and fills the cabin. I'm going to get that fixed next time, or I won't be able to make a fire all winter.
The wind chime wasn't doing its job, I felt that all of the dangly bits were crowded together and needed to be spread out.
I'm learning things as I go, so sometimes I have to mark myself in the B- or C+ range and try again!

Did you just repurpose your blow up bed as a draught excluder? Where did you sleep? 🤣 Stove is working a treat!

It had a hole in it, I was using it to cover a wood pile! The stove is great, but the water tank leaks and needs a bit of patching up before I can use it. For a first go at masonry I'm really happy overall!
