Mahri You might want to try hard restarting your pc by holding down the power button until it completely shuts off. If that didn’t work then I’m not completely sure how to help

I'm still trying to think of why "plugged in not charging" is even a thing. Who at windows thought this should be a thing? Who does it benefit?
That's what I'm wondering. Also wondering if there's some way to report this problem to Microsoft or whoever's in charge of this so they can issue a real fix instead of having to do this workaround.

here's what worked for me (2014 HP laptop on windows 8 with a removable battery)
first time i tried everything in the video and i restarted the computer, it did not work. then i did theses steps:
1. removed the charging cable first (the battery started draining fast so it was a stressfull experience, don't know if necessary to unplug that early)
2. did every step in the video above (i had optional updates after the update check, but i did not do the updates)
4. removed all the usb devices from their ports (idk if it's a necessary step... probably not)
5. powered down the laptop by holding the power button over 30 seconds
6. removed my battery and waited a few minutes (i had already tried to remove the battery before for maybe 30 seconds, but it did not work)
7. placed the battery back in its place (i blew to make sure there were no dust causing the problem, nintendo 64 style)
8. connected back the charging cable (if i'm not mistaken, a white light then appeared, meaning it was still not charging)
9. powered up the laptop( the light then turned orange indicating it was charging)
i am now plugged in and charging. i re-inserted the usb devices. good luck to everyone.

Not sure if this method worked or not. I ended up powering down the laptop and unplug the power cord, then set about unscrewing the back (bottom), including the four hidden screws under the rubber pads, and then prising the keyboard (top) off with a utulity knife, unhooked the ribbon cords and put the keyboard to one side. Located the battery connector and unplugged the battery and left it for a minute. I put everything back together and the orange charge light came on straightaway once I plugged the charger back in. Laptop booted up and is now charging properly. Thanks for the video.

I have tried all of these tips and tricks: taking out the battery, doing a hard reset, draining the battery, updating the drivers, disabling the drivers, updating the bios. Sometimes you just have to do a hard reset on your pc and wipe all your apps and files before fixing the problem. This last thing is the only thing that worked for me.

I just took the battery out and put it back in
And it worked lol
Am losing brain cells at this point let's see if hard reset works. pray for me
@@ngtv2028ive had the same laptop for 9 years, sometimes this fix works....usually when it doesnt it means it time for a new battery. (Ill be on my 3rd battery now since this fix did not work) good thing they are relatively cheap on amazon

it saddens me how unfinished windows really is, I'm sick and tired of looking for solutions to these stupid bugs. If they made games for linux distros windows would be dead by now.
I feel the same way. When I was younger and had more free time I used to be really interested in these kinda things. But now that I'm an adult, having these dumb bugs interfere with my work and having to spend a lot of time finding fixes and workarounds to them is really frustrating me. It seems these days Microsoft is more interested in invading your privacy and selling your data than creating quality products.

I've had the same problem for about a month. Finally fixed it today.
Did a hard reset (hold down power button 'til laptop turns off).
Turn on and press F2 repeatedly 'til you get to options........ choose 'Component Test'.
(According to HP, the component test includes the AC Adapter, but my model doesn't have
that, so I tested the battery instead...... tried to re-boot, and my laptop said 'my pc needs to be repaired'.
Turned off and re-booted, laptop went into 'auto-repair', then booted into Windows.
Battery charge icon went from 60% to 100%, then back down to 60%.
Status says 'Plugged in, charging', and is currently up to 100%.
I'm so fkn happy. 😁

The FIX: Unplug your laptop, Shut down your laptop. Turn on your laptop (while it is still unplugged). Login. Plug in your laptop. Problem solved -for me anyway. (I tried this first, so maybe it was needed also?)

@@009SOUNDSYSTEM_ Lit! I had another issue... my laptop was fully charged and plugged in and the video was running slowly... I unplugged and everything was good again... it's something to do with the power management and throttling the power while not charging I think?

this is "BUG ERROR WINDOWS 8.1 / 10" not a laptop or cable charger damaged.
this happened before to me, "I use sleep / hibernate mode" after I turned it on and this problem that I got now..... Other problems also occur on my laptop, I yesterday had a problem with my laptop like 100% and RAM disk use 600MB ONLY application screensever !! and my laptop charger but the battery continues to decrease by 5% and turns off! the point of this problem = "sleep / hibernate mode" so my advice be careful using sleep / hibernate mode in Windows 10 because this is very buggyy, well I know that Windows 10 is the worst OS version in Windows history, it's been over 4 years since this bug was noticed them, and make everyone so nervous and spend money only on this little bug.
i came here cuz my laptop wont charge fully but it will stop charging on 65% only and im currently working on the first method and i dont know if its gonna work or not

@@didepp9466 check if there is any updates available for ur laptop and update it , when u r going to turn it off or restart it , the update and restart icon will appear for u just do that and everything will be fine if it did not work tell me
here's what happens, whever I check for updates, it starts initializing but goes into pending download. then i try to restart it or shut it down, it doesn't update at all... what do I do? also, thank you very much for your help!!!

This problem happens when i am playing certain games only, when i am not playing games battery remains fine, it charges well, but when i play a game, after 5 mins my charging light starts blinking and plugged in not charging shows
Check your power management settings... Try going to full performance or some other setting. I'm not sure why yet, but when mine is fully charged, it throttles the processor... not a fix, but might give you something to search.
What kinda games are your playing? Just curious if there's a pattern.

My DELL laptop says (plugged in, not charging) when it reaches 99% then charges then after a few seconds (not charging) then after a few seconds charging again until it reaches 100% then after seconds it is 100% but says charging then after turns to 99% then same cycle charging then not charging until it fully charged. What could probably happen to my laptop. Please, help.

Yes laptop should work without battery, but it should be plugged in to power supply. Charger should match the required power input your laptop needs, otherwise, it may not work, and might even cause more problems. Example - if the original/correct charger was giving output 20V/3.25A then any charger you're using, should also give same output. i'd advice you to get a orinigal charger for the same model.
The part that goes into my computer is bent, can that be the cause of it not charging

I tried this and did not worked 😭 My dad took my laptop's charger to the shop and it turned out that the cord of the charger (the one with fuse) had burned internally. The technician sold us a new cord and now my laptop is charging again.

By this method it may show charging , but it does not charge the battery... Issue still persists...
I have done this method even after replacing new battery and new AC adapter , Still its not charging...... Same issue....
This same issue is seen in HP , Dell , Alienware ,Acer and so on.....
I think this is definitely a bug related to windows updates and software incompatibility....
This has nothing to do with hardware I guess , and everyone is going on replacing the hardwares to save their laptops.
Nobody has any solution to this issue.... Everybody has copy pasted same thing everywhere in the internet...

I have a Microsoft Surface RT, and it's not fixed even I did restart "Still connected but not charging" !! I was trying to complete some updates when it turned OFF coz the battery was less than 5%...

For me this dindn't work out but i was missing a step that i was not turning off power So what i did was
1)Do things in the video
2) Turn off laptop remove power
3)Then turn on laptop without plugging in .
4)After Sign in plugged in the laptop and it workes
The solution in this video does not work. The only solution I've found that seems to work is to use a Linux USB installer to start the machine, charge the battery to 100%, then restart and let it boot into windows. Using Linux to recharge the battery to its full capacity seems to resolve hte issue.

Looks like the IC inside battery is counting the charge cycles and its forcing to not charge the battery...
I am working at home and always on desktop...
