      You need to listen to the contortionist. I know for a fact this is a band you would fall in love with. So much uniqueness to them and there is no other band with their sound imo. Amazing cleans, ambience, melodies, progression and grooves that will capture you and take you to another place. Based on how you thought of the old northlane, this is for sure the type of band you need to check out. Not for us, but for you!

      I was hooked by the time the chorus hit the first time. It took a few listens to actually process everything going on in it and that just made me enjoy it more. Probably my favorite song of all time in this field of metal

    If you love atmospheric tones and scapes, this band is perfect. So easy to get lost floating with them playing in your ear, and it hits different when you actually focus on the music as well. HIGHLY recommended Greyview bro

      @tylerdurden5593 Před rokem +1

      Yes, it's a great album, it just is not really good for a "first time reaction" video, since it's just too many layers in their music to figure completely what's going on and appreciate this music. They are growing the more though. Allthough I have to yet say that the first track Dark is by far the strongest track on the album and that is not very good on such a long record...

  • @AndreasKingMedia
    @AndreasKingMedia Před 2 lety +36

    I've never been super huge on Invente Animate - Ironically they sounded a lot like discoveries/singularity era Northlane for a while, and have progressed into an even more proggy and technical version of that. That being said, I thought 'As if it never was' was absolutely incredible. It's a pretty gut wrenching song especially when you read the lyrics; Nothing like watching someone you care about wither away to nothing from drug abuse.

    • @RubberToess
      @RubberToess Před rokem +3

      Wild to see how others don’t appreciate how great Everchanger and Stillworld are. I agree with them sounding like discoveries and singularity being those are a few of my favorite albums and what made me like invent animate in the first place. I love how consistent the Invent Animate sound gets, they don’t experiment as much as northlane has with every album but their sound evolves and grows into how talented invent animate are.

    • @AndreasKingMedia
      @AndreasKingMedia Před rokem +2

      @@RubberToess Discoveries and Singularity really had strong influence across the metalcore scene, so I think by the time Invent Animate came around I was just pretty bored of the sound at that point. Don't get me wrong, I still jammed some of their songs, but it didn't make me love the band in the same way as I fell in love with Northlane.

    This EP is a grower. On my first listen my feelings at the end of it were like "okay that was pretty good I'll add the songs to my playlist for sure." But then I listened to it again, and then again, and now I feel it's one of the best releases of 2021 - albums included. Also the first listen experience is definitely amplified by the full 10 minute music video, I would've recommended it that way personally.

    This is one of my favorite metalcore bands nowdays, the way they use the atmospheric sounds, complex structures and sick riffage just blows me away. With that said, I had to give a couple listens to their music to understand how good they actually are and how they submerge you in this feeling of beautiful melancholy in such a fluid way. Without a doubt, one of the best songwriters in the metal scene, I think you should absolutely give any of their albums a chance too, Stillworld is my favorite album by them, Celestial Floods in especific is a masterpiece of a song in my opinion but any of their works are a unique experience.

    Going into last track is one of my favorite things I have heard, I know they aren't the first, but I always love a big wall of sound like that. The underlying chugging you don't notice right away too really made me love that last track. Sort of reminded me of the band Devil Sold His Soul, like their song witness marks.
    Thall being my favorite flavor of metal or whatever you want to call Vildhjarta and anything Buster touches, is also what I liked about this EP. Thall-esque riffs can invokesuch a strong melancholy vibe that traditionally "sad" songs can't. It is sadness paired with longing, like Lavender Haze from the last Vildhjarta album, and Invent Animate captured that vibe pretty well with those thall riffs. Definitely one of my favorites. Thanks for listening to it and giving thoughts.

    aaaaah i love this band so much. can't wait to cry when i see them in november. the riff in the 2nd half of the chorus of the sun sleeps (2:32) is one of the best riffs of the 2020s so far imo, it really captures the sorrow and hope of drug addiction that the band are trying to showcase in this EP

    Edit: I just wanted to shout out your editing @Drew. Honestly I feel like you're doing yourself a disservice by upping your expectation this much. As a guy with a pretty fringe music taste, many things that others hype aren't for me, and in reverse, many things I like aren't for others. Like with this, i can basically just get sucked in by the atmosphere, techy riffs and lyrics, but that obviously didn't have the same effect on you. And that's just... musical tastes, really. By that metric, great reaction! Many people in the reaction scene don't really show when they can't get into something they're listening to, and that you don't subscribe to that ideology makes you all the more watchable, because I can be at least somewhat sure that I won't get bullshitted by you.

    The contrast between this EP and the Northlane LP yesterday is palpable, haha. In yesterdays video I mentioned the uncommon song structures that where in that album, in contrast, this EP feels a lot more structured, much more obvious "chorus" moments, and choruses are repeating often, just comes down to what type of song structuring you prefer more here (it's interesting you didnt like either of these though, kinda expected you to like this more ngl). What makes Invent Animate unique to me is the pensive type of quality that the music has, definitely pretty depressing type of music. I personally prefer Stillworld to this, and the vocalist in this EP isnt exactly my favorite, but I can still enjoy it a fair bit.
