Mea Culpa:
Joseph was not “snippy” he was blunt and honest when describing his cardstock. I can never fault an artist for that. His passion is a credit to Tarot
Thanks for watching 🙏
For the Vieville deck, I again tested multiple card stocks, and ended up going with a thicker one -- 350 gsm vs. the 330 gsm that I used with the smaller Noblet deck. You can see the difference when Justin holds them up side by side.
To summarize the differences between my artwork and the museum originals:
• I did center some images, even though some of the cards in the museum are cut off center. I am convinced this was caused by simple inconsistencies in cutting the sheets. The original deck was clearly assembled from multiple sheets, as was the standard practice of the day. That is also shown by the fact that adjacent card cuts occasionally overlap, so couldn't be from the same sheet. For example, the knight of swords shows the extreme right edge of the knight of coins card. The surviving knight of coins card however is not so mutilated. So it seems clear to me that the cuts were not intentionally/consistently biased one way of another.
• I edited out the museum stamps. In some cases those had caused minor damage to the original image, which I have subsequently repaired.
• In a few places I removed some minor stains and finger prints that seemed subsequent to original manufacture.
Very attractive!
discovered the channel thru the Petersons deck, nice stuff!
Thank you my friend 🙏
One cannot have too many copies of the Vieville! 🤣🥰 ~ Marilyn
Thanks for the review! I'm glad you liked these.
They are high quality, well priced, and well executed. Thank you my friend. It would be nice to hear about your restoration process sometime..
Dear Joseph,
I so appreciate your Jean Noblet Tarot, Joseph, and I'm so curious why out of the historic decks you decided to release THIS beautiful Vieville that our Justin featured in this video.
@@musingsbymascha Thanks for the feedback. I wanted to do a Vieville deck because of its age, its affinity to the Noblet and its makers, and its fascinating differences from other decks.
Thanks for this Justin. Really nicely done deck.
Thank you my friend🙏 Goad you enjoyed
Hi, Justin! Just got my Noblet today! I really like it. And it came so fast! I only ordered it yesterday! Ok, I think you got me hooked on Marseilles decks, now. I'll have to really watch myself. Anyway, thanks!
💙🥰🙏
Off now to watch your History of the Vieville
🐇🕳 🐰⛳️😂🙏💙
@@justinmichaeltarot as long as it doesn’t cost! 😱😂
@@Richard_Boo Richard his decks are a real bargain. I’m not sure what Her Majesty will add on but it’s definitely worth it.
@@justinmichaeltarot I have the Noblet one from Peterson. Just ordered the Vieville. 😎
Wonderful video, Justin! I so respect and love Joseph's work!
I so love the cardstock of Joseph's Noblet! Does the Vieville feel the same in terms of pliability and the feel of the cards, Jus?
As a CZcamsr, I have goals! - How did you make such a great video under 13 minutes, my brother! :)
Hi mascha!! I tried to keep it short and sweet 😂
@@justinmichaeltarot well I always try too, but I just seem not to be able to stop talking! LOL! Love you my tarot brother!
Mascha the cards actually feel a lot like Yves’ stock. Nice Paper quality but very durable.
@@musingsbymascha I do that too 😂 I basically just wanted to show the cards Snd keep it light. I was too tired after work to make a long video ☕️😊
Hi, Justin! Just recently subscribed to your channel. Great content! After watching, I ordered the Noblet. Additional cost for the rounded corners was about $38. I can't wait till it gets here. Thanks for the look- see.
You are soo welcome!! I’m glad you ordered it!! You won’t be disappointed!! Thanks for watching my friend 🙂
Great version on this classic. The hard box sure makes a difference. Joseph Peterson is also the ultimate resource of translated medieval magical texts, which he graciously has available to read on his website esotericarchives.com. And he’s correct about these decks should be used and not stored on a shelf.
YES, Shell! I'm 100% on that! Decks should be used! xx
Thanks Shell!
