Speaking as someone who barely played the demo, I was originally very excited for this game. I'm glad to hear the combat lives up somewhat. For me the demo just didn't do it much justice. I felt like I was placed into the game expected to have a few hours experience already. I knew it wouldn't be a "buy immediately" game with that hefty price tag, figured if it was good enough I'd wait for a 25% off sale. Just hearing all the reviews come out and even hearing you say it needed more time in development, I just can't justify spending any more than $30-$40CAD on it.
Having a black female main character put it on many players shit list because it was suspected of forcing diversity, and the release became an event to try to ruin. The game having problems just turned into justification for negativity, and voiced with a vitriolic tone. Those people say they aren't racist, but can't handle a black MC.
It would be interesting to see if this were true or not. But I think more and more these days, gamers don't really care for the design of the main character, so long as their interesting in their setting or full fill the expected role.
The people who have access to games aren't all racists or men at that. If the game wasn't bad and it was because some dont like a black protagonist, surely it'd have players right? Where's all the black people playing this game or the "modern audience" that these games are made for? Surely black people aren't racist, why aren't they playing?
The story and characterizations in this game are absolutely atrocious. I mean, they're really bad. The gameplay though, after Tanta Sila and onwards, is nothing short of spectacular. Dont sugar talk this piece of crap by saying its a game that some will enjoy and not everyone, thats like wack argument. If you do propper analysis, this game falls short from technical aspects such as performance and presentation nd probably other aspects. The level design, environment, assets looks very low quality, there has not been put emphasis to make propper design that fits in the game world and looks pleasing to the eyes. Water reflection and movement dont exists in this game, lightning looks absolutely horrible everything looks overblown and fake, there is no balance in the lighting, it looks very flat and thats a big redflag. There is alot of fog in this game to hide empty areas which is again a lazy indication of designing the world. Character models look extremely dated and bad, yet this game is sold as ps5 console exclusive as a next gen class game. Shadow effects of vegetation has received considerable downgrade from first gameplay trailer, older games such as Witcher 3 or Horizon Zero Dawn even have better shadow effects that transforms the entire environment to add more depth to the world which has an impact on the visual. Forspoken draw distance looks like gta sa definitive edition, it looks really bad, games such as Death Stranding, Arkham Knight, Mad Max have far better detailed draw distance this also includes the above mentioned games. Then we have the games social aspects like interaction, story, voice, plot etc, absolute horrible production and direction, i mean these points make a strong statement to dislike the game for factual reason instead of emotional reasoning that have no objectivity/facts. To even say this is game is solid but could have done more things right if it had more time, is absolute false because its not true, if you would have done a proper analysis you would have spoken more convincingly. Remember, game is sold at premium price, and there is just far too many topics this game fails to deliver. Such bad games should never be supported, it was a huge let down to waste resource on a game that was bound to fail from the start. The pc requirements indicates also that this game was bound to fail hard, please dont support crap titles, that were designed to fail.
Technically I think the game ran smoothly as hell on my PS5! on PC, I've read its quite the opposite. I think the problem was they developed the world, before realising how everything would fit in the world, how the story would play out, what the purpose of locations were or they left it to late in development, where they didn't have enough time to make a fully fleshed out world., But in saying this, I really enjoyed the "vast open world" the lighting wasn't an issue for me, because it did a good enough job at creating nice picturesque landscapes. Obviously not everywhere looked the best all the time, but again, not many open world games look exceptional when exploring every corner of the map. The fog trick is a bit of shame,. but I think it only happens in two areas mainly, and both of those would have required an absurd amount of environment to be rendered in. For example when you first leave the main city to hunt down the first Tanta (Sila). I agree that some of the dialogue is poor and certainly some voice acting, but I think its also the lack of animation, and in game character, that just completely un immerses you. But like I said tin the video, it has its moments, moments in the story, where everything falls into place, and you can immerse yourself deeply in the narrative.
I can already tell you never played the game and only read shit from Twitter. BTW I hope you keep this same energy on every video about Hogwarts Legacy, a game with 10x the problems as Forspoken but for some reason gets a pass. I know you won't tho.
