I remembered vividly, the next morning quite a number of Army land rovers with police officers were visiting Pandan's migrant worker dormitories. 😂

Though the riot was triggered by the tragic death of an Indian migrant worker whose dead body was pinned under a bus, two hours later when the mayhem ended, 30 police and civil defence vehicles and ambulances had been damaged by rioters and over 40 police, civil defence and auxiliary officers were injured.

Pathetic 40 pax of police. That's like being outnumbered 20:1... why didn't they send in the Gurkahs? My guess is, the Gurkahs are there to defend the government against Singaporeans... When Singaporeans start the riot, that's when they send in the Gurkahs, because like the Tiananmen incident, they know that Singaporean riot control team will side with its own friends and famil members...

In another 5 to 7 years, we will see many Singaporeans working on the streets of neighboring countries. At present, we already have lots of Singaporeans laboring and delivering food in Australia.

No. Singapore is an ideal location for most Singaporeans and non-residents to live and work in. Based on a report conducted by The Singapore Governmemt in 2023 this year, Singapore's population is increasing and has almost reach 6 million because most Singaporeans overseas had came back after covid as well as a increase in non-residents.

In an instance of extreme naivety, Law and Foreign Minister K. Shanmugam met with foreign workers in a dormitory and, having asked the nervous workers point blank if they were unhappy with work conditions in Singapore, happily concluded that resentment was not a factor in the riot.

So you are telling me the government should be quiet and not take disciplianary actions against migrant workers who don't abide the rules and go against Singapore's multinational society? The government and not even the citizens would want the rules and multinational society to be broken by them. Everyone would be okay if all of them follow our rules. That's why the government had to take actions so that they will behave.

When the Little India riot occurred,
the government, whilst asking the public not to speculate on possible causes, quickly postulated that liquor was a primary factor, possibly to divert attention away from causes which may suggest culpability on the part of the government. In fact, as if to confirm this sensitivity to blame, the government reacted angrily to an article in the New York Times, headlined “Singapore’s angry migrant workers”, complaining vehemently that the article “offered scant evidence” of discontent.
