THE BIG REVEAL! 1 of 1 Porsche 986 Boxster 25th Anniversary restoration is finished!

In part 1 we introduced you to a Porsche 986 Boxster that was looking pretty sorry for itself. It hadn't turned a wheel in years and was in a state of disrepair, having been used as a training car for most of its life.
Porsche Classic GB wanted to revive this sorry Boxster, enlisting in the help of Shorade Accident Repair, a Porsche recommended body repairer, to bring it back to life - with a twist. The 986 was to be turned into a special 1-of-1 25th Anniversary Edition, emulating the new 718 Porsche has just released to celebrate a quarter of a century of Boxster production.
In this concluding part of our mini-series, we show you highlights from the restoration before revealing the finished article in all its stunning glory, with commentary from Shorade's CEO Steve Shore, who talks us through the build.

The design of the car is timeless. Looks much better than the current 718. The most underrated Porsche .

Fantastic result! The wheels and vents really set it off. It’s great to see the progression of the original 986 through to the 718, that you can still see the same design elements reflected in the newer cars.

Beautiful I want to do that black windscreen frame on my 991.1 I first saw it on a new speedster they did it put that black on the windscreen frame it just for some reason looks perfect specially with a black top! Nice video!

Are those 550 anniversary rear lights or were the amber bits of the existing clusters painted red? I'm looking to do that to my lights, in combination with de-ambering the fronts and seide repeaters. Also, I would have thought repairing fade on the amber parts of the front lights would be a simple matter of wrapping in orange tint film, right? Luckily the Fresnel lenses inside the headlight cluster don't seem to have melted, mine are going brown.
Looks amazing. I'd still have thought they could have gone for some door mounted mirrors a 996 bumper with the full width openings and some CNC/3D printed intakes. Now that would look spectacular.
I think parts were a major issue, so sourcing the above could have been problematic, given the short timeframe to complete the job. Some great ideas there for further improvements, though.
Saw this at goodwood, showed them my 986 with the original aero kit and they was shocked, they gave me a free porsche book, lovely lads !

Very well executed! I was so worried that they would not fit Speedlines and spray those horrible twist wheels gold and silver, but they came through. Awesome looking car, now I want one :)

It’s a matter of taste @@kriskalpa, but for me they are the worst factory wheel on a Boxster. In general I am not a fan of this type of wheel simply because almost no manufacturer bothered to mirror them from left to right, leaving you with spokes pointing forward in one side and backward on the error.

I'd guess labour cost about 25-30k, not including parts and materials.

Is this a UK built/UK owned car? If so, it's a shame it's left hand drive. Although it probably will never get used. Again, that would be a shame 😕
Chassis 301 is and has always been owned by Porsche Cars Great Britain. Hopefully it'll get some road miles!
It was registered as P161 EGM but not used on the roads. It is left hand drive because its from the first production batch of cars which were all left hand drive. The first UK cars were all Pxxx EGM and registered by Porsche Cars GB, this is one of them.
