- BIG 1:4 SCALE RC PANTHER TANK at BOVINGTON TANK MUSEUM [UltraHD & 4K]
This Panther is a highly modified Alex Shlakhter Model from Mark-1-Tank, made in Russia and then assembled in the UK By Mark Spencer, but was modified by members of the UK Tank Club. It now has a custom built chassis and custom electrics. Here it is capably demonstrated by Lyndon Whittaker. This model has an all metal chassis and tracks. It runs on 24V electric power supplied by two lead acid batteries. It carries a sound system that can play music and scale sound effects. This video was filmed using the Panasonic AG-UX180 4K camcorder at Bovington Tank Museum at the annual model show.
From Wikipedia regarding the Panther tank:
The Panther was a German medium tank deployed during World War II on the Eastern and Western Fronts in Europe from mid-1943 to its end in 1945. It had the ordnance inventory designation of Sd.Kfz. 171. Until 27 February 1944, it was designated as the Panzerkampfwagen V Panther when Hitler ordered that the Roman numeral "V" be deleted. Contemporary English language reports sometimes refer to it as the Mark V.
The Panther was intended to counter the Soviet T-34 and to replace the Panzer III and Panzer IV. Nevertheless, it served alongside the Panzer IV and the heavier Tiger I until the end of the war. It is considered one of the best tanks of World War II for its excellent firepower and protection. Its reliability was less impressive.
The Panther was a compromise. While having essentially the same engine as the Tiger I, it had more efficient frontal hull armour, better gun penetration, was lighter and faster, and could traverse rough terrain better than the Tiger I. The trade-off was weaker side armour, which made it vulnerable to flanking fire. The Panther proved to be effective in open country and long range engagements, but did not provide enough high explosive firepower against infantry.
The Panther was far cheaper to produce than the Tiger I, and only slightly more expensive than the Panzer IV. Key elements of the Panther design, such as its armour, transmission, and final drive, were simplifications made to improve production rates and address raw material shortages. The overall design remained somewhat over-engineered. The Panther was rushed into combat at the Battle of Kursk despite numerous unresolved technical problems, leading to high losses due to mechanical failure. Most design flaws were rectified in the German retreat, though the bombing of production plants, increasing shortages of high quality alloys for critical components, shortage of fuel and training space, and the declining quality of crews all impacted the Type's effectiveness.
This video was filmed at Bovington Tank Museum at the annual model show in February 2017 using the Panasonic AG-UX180 4K camcorder.

The big Panther at home 🏡 for the fun,👌 it's the good work. 👍 Phil. 🇨🇵.
I loved this Panther Ausf G Tank so much........I bought it from the chap running it here ! I have made lots of changes to it now internally on the electronics, exhaust smoke units and a few external changes too (like wire towing ropes in place etc). 😃
How much did you pay for it, I'm curious because getting one second hand may be the only way for me, as new they are insanely pricey
@@Cormano980 These quarter scale ones are the most expensive end of tank modelling. 1/6th scale would be the best bet...............or 1/16th is the easy/cheaper form of getting into tanks.
@TheKRU251 I have 1/16, also the 1/6 goes from about 5000 dollars the even the sh ones, at least the full metal versions
The cheapest route would be 3d print and plywood with metal reinforcing, but also require a workshop and a lot of free time, anyway thanks for the reply
@@Cormano980 The original build cost for the 1/4 Panther was 15,000 UKP !!!!
@TheKRU251 yeah, that's about right, but I've seen the Warslug ones going for 50000$ at some point
I have a measly 1/16 in which I've invested close to 5000 now, so I know it's a black hole for money
An excellent touch is the fact that the tank commander's head moves! Definitely adds to the realism.
The size of this RC tank= mind blown. i want a Mark IV, Tiger I, Panzer IV, Walker Bulldog, and a few others
DragonScar Games. Good luck affording multiple 1/4 scale tanks as there about £12,000 each (at least the t34-85 and tTger 2 are, I'm not sure on the Panther)
That is absolutely awesome and I would like to build one too. Of course the perenial problem is the tracks. If one could only buy them at a reasonable cost.
at 0:27 you can just see the drastic size diff even tho theres a decent amount of space between them when you go from 1/6 to 1/4 scale...
stunning model👍👍looks and sounds the part really impressed
Connecticut Tanker Carl
Impressive
Great angle with the real big cat in the background!!
very cool machine - thanks for posting!
Saw this for real today because i work with the guy very impressive...
Very very cool, looks like a lot of fun 👍.
Absolutely brilliant thankyou
beautiful panther
แนวหน้า รถถังรีโมด เท่ดีจังนะ นะจ๊ะ
Absolutely awesome!!! Looks like the tank commander is also an avid bicyclist! ;-)
Excellent / Klasse! surprisingly it supports neutral steering (!), watch 11m 02sec
It is an awesome tank, and I'm not just saying cos he's my brother. :-)
I want to see it in off road
เท่ดีจังนะ นะจ๊ะ
He said it weighed a quarter of a ton! (560lbs) That's one heavy model! Watch it doesn't run over your foot!
But the real Panther was about 49 tons. If the weight was 1/4 it would have to weigh about 12 tons...
@@awkwarddoggo05 square cube law say nah not happening
I just realized how stupid my comment was lol. I didn’t stop to think that not everything is scaled down. Armor thickness, fuel tanks, engine, and that it probably isn’t made of the same materials the Panther was.
@@awkwarddoggo05 It wasn't a stupid comment but an attempt to answer a complexity. Let me tell you I'm still trying to work out the scale weight ratios...
It won’t be the same. You’d have to take a real Panther and shrink it down with a shrink ray for everything to be evenly scaled down. Weight included.
Guess it weight 200kg. Can see already modified from spring to torsion bar suspension. What a beauty!
1/4 tonne I was told so you are not far off Lerh! Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
My friend owns a 1:4 King Tiger also from Mark-1-Tank, and is 1/4 tonne. So I guessed the Panther is lighter, just as two real tanks. Thanks for the reply.
wow great but how did they made the engine sound ??
⚔️⚔️⚔️👍👍👍
If the transmission doesn’t break every ~50 km then can it even be called accurate?
you mean 12.5 or 7.76 miles
It ain't a Tiger 1...........
What is the cost of these tanks? And the shipping charge to the US? How long can these tanks run on batteries?
Aaahhhhh almost a perfect model, sort out the obvious problem, but I'll still give it 9/10 as it is 👍👍
Matt Kingaby Obvious problem?
Xavier Sequeira Is there a reason why the turret 'jars' on its traverse, don't remember seeing that when I have seen a panther turret move?
There's actually not even a single problem with the model...
I'd love to know who's Panzer 2 that was on the table, could very well be my one which I sold a many number of years ago! Either that or its twin made by Ray Spooner
Why dont they use such extraordinary models for making historical films is beyond me. Is it cheaper to rent a T34-T44 and put a plastic mask on it than to hire someone to shoot two scenes with a 1/4 panther beasts like this one in the video!?
Hi Lyndon, looking for help, just bought you chally 2 from trev cooper, i need to know what the Electronize fr30hx does,
can you please tell me.
John
if the inner wheel breaks, gl disassembling it lol
Is that the actual motor or sound effects with speakers?
recording of a real 230...
Great job... wow ..where can i get a kit.. like this?
You should ask on the 'UK Tank Club' group on Facebook. They are very helpful. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Where do you get the 1/4 figure?
What the heck did you expect? You lock up those tanks in a dusty old museum unsupervised Night after night with no tarp and this is what eventually happens. Baby tanks.
Nice Tank guy's. I'm having M26 1/16 bad its not working Maybe You Know person Who can Help me fix it I'm living in London UK any information
where you can buy a king tiger 1/4 or 1/6 scale ?????????????
How much-$$- to build one? And where can you get this kit?
This was about £15K! No kit. Was scratch built. Talk to the guys on the 'UK Tank Club' Facebook group for more info. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
*Transmissions breaks*
Is it possible to buy one of these?!?!
Google armortek
@@EssentialRC tnx
needs a working 19mm gun
mega, i have just 1/16 Tanks because idk how to manage logistics with my small car :D on my Channel theres a Video from my Panther G in the fictional Bovington Red/Yellow Camo.
If it doesn't shoot its not a tank.
...BAD-ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i dont think 4 of these panthers put toghether are as high or as lon as the real one
nice model lousy paint job. cammo should not be straight lines. the Germans would never have painted that tank in that fashion. colors are right, but not in straight lines.
you mong. where's a video of your perfectly painted model?
@Teutonic Nobility Sorry that was a bit harsh of me. wasn't meant to be that way.
that said, yes you are correct especially when you say that they could modify their tanks to suit their mission, which is why they wouldn't have used straight lines for camo. IT DOESN'T WORK.
Camouflage works by breaking up lines not making them more pronounced.
That Panther G is sooo beautiful. Just wish it had the side skirts on
yeah i thought the same, they look damn nice with those skirts on
This model will have a few skirts added but in real life they usually got ripped off. So maybe three on one side and a pair on the other.
