How to get Thai Permanent Residency in Thailand

  • Getting Thai Permanent Residency is not a simple task as it involves many documents that need to be submitted and need to maintain constant follow up with immigration officer to ensure the application is successful. So if you are interested to apply, prepare to obtain required documents in advance and the followings are necessary documents
    1. Minimum Monthly salary of THB80,000 (HR must provide proof in Immigration format)
    2. Tax Payment Proof and Receipt for Three years (Certified by Revenue Department)
    3. Criminal Record Clearance from Local Police station in Home Country (Notarised, Certified by Embassy, Certified by Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
    4. Company Registration, Tax Certificate, Tax Payment Receipts, Salary Statements, etc
    5. Recommendation Letter from Ministry of Labour
    6. Thai House Registration Book
    Although the process is a bit complicated and time consuming, I'd say it's worth going for it if you decide to settle in Thailand for a little while.

    I have an ongoing application for the PR that I submitted in December 2022. I initially applied for the criteria of having a Thai family, my wife and son. However, the immigration officer suggest that I apply for my employment status which according to them is easier to get approved. Even though I have been researching about this PR for months, I still had a lot that I learned from your video. Such as citizenship and the ability to apply visa to other family members (I was thinking about my parents, both retirees). Thank you very much.

    • @lawtvlogs
      @lawtvlogs  Před rokem +4

      Apply with Thai family status should be easier and straight forward as it doesn’t require big salary (100K plus/month) and certain employment period (Min 3 years if apply with employment status) so if officers suggest otherwise, it might mean you will need to pay under the table to expedite the process. It’d be a pain in the back to apply with employment status due to its ridiculous requirements that you and your company have to fulfill from tax receipts, financial statements, to salary of every staff in the company. So if you can find someone who is close to immigration boss, it’d make your application a lot faster to get approved. Good luck 👍

      @@lawtvlogs Hi. Yes I did pay "special fees". I had the DNA tests as require. My son is conceived by IVF so my wife is not a biological mother as per DNA result. According to the immigration officer this will lower my score so she suggest I apply by employment status that we did. The paper work requirements is very tedious. They even require the passport copy, alien registration copy, etc of the company directors. As an ordinary employee of the company, it is very difficult for me to even arrange a meeting with those bosses, what more getting their personal documents. I just hope this get over soon.

    • @lawtvlogs
      @lawtvlogs  Před rokem +3

      In order to maintain PR status, you have to stay in Thailand for a few days in a year and when you go abroad, need to get endorsement (Re-entry permit) from the immigration Bureau. That’s all.

    • @yvancg
      @yvancg Před rokem +1

      @@lawtvlogs i see. And thanks for replying. So if you cannot come back within a year for whatever reason, such as lockdown or travel ban, then you are at risk to lose your PR?
      Do you also have to register to the local police station every year?

    • @lawtvlogs
      @lawtvlogs  Před rokem +3

      @@yvancg It depends, normally if travel ban was put in place, immigration bureau makes exception case to the requirement and ask PR holders to request for extension of stay abroad to keep PR status active. And you don’t have to report to police station every year.

      1st > I heard you can apply for PR if you’re married to Thai for one year and have monthly income of 40K for either one of you, so you can go and ask for detail.
      2nd > Immigration Office Chaengwatthana Counter E (Counter for PR application only)
      I suggest you consult with agency to clarify certain requirements coz immigration officers are not willing to provide you specific ones at the counter (No idea why)

If you do it by yourself, you may have to spend sometimes on immigration officer guiding you one requirement after another (Not everyone is the same, but most), so better do it with agency for the first time to get through it.
