  • Sun columnist and former star of The Apprentice, Katie Hopkins, chats to us in London about being controversial, what annoys her 'beyond belief', and why she should be sponsored by Marmite.
    Katie is widely known as one of the most controversial characters in Britain and explains why likes being in the spotlight. She tells us that political correctness has gone 'way too far' and says we all need to be thicker skinned.

    Goooooooooo Katie...I adore you! You are the only person I've seen and heard in recent years that isn't full of crap! Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you! I'm so tired of the socially and politically correct BS that passes for being real today! Today we celebrate everything from diversity to plus-size models to uneducated street people to ghetto behavior and we don't want to be insensitive, now do we? Absolutely....keep going. Never ever stop doing what you're doing because we need the truth. No matter the topic, everything I can think of has gone beyond what it was meant when it began. From feminism to equal pay to being overweight to enjoying the diversity within our world to male chauvinism to I'm OK, You're OK. Name the cause or topic and it has gone to the extreme. It's all BS, pure and simple!

      @nicole boothman ,you do realise that she thinks it’s ok to determine a child’s class by their name. For example she thinks anyone with the name Tyler is in lower class and therefore does not do their homework and is a bad influence on other children.not only is that making children who’s parents do not have a lot of money feel like they are worthless because of their name and class,but it is influencing others to think the same. Yes she has the balls to speak her mind ,but so does Donald trump ! What she’s saying isn’t good . She’s racist and a hypocrite. It’s definitely too far to say she’s amazing

    Totally disagree that your class should determine your options in life. My dad was from a very working class family and worked so so hard to gain a maths degree from a Russell group university, trained in tax law and now owns his own tax law firm. But I agree sometimes there’s too much on social mobility, working class kids just need comparable education to middle class children, a supportive environment, hard work and brains.

  • @ShitLiterature
    @ShitLiterature Před 9 lety +11

    I simply think she's never really been exposed to anyone who's not white middle class British and 'successful'. Because if she had been she'd have no problem with 'diversity'. The more people you meet and the more places and situations you become a part of the more positive your outlook and the more objective you become.

      +Danielle Field No she's a horrible human being. Coming out with things such as " UK has seen a 500% growth in anti-depressants since 1991. Like being bullied, being depressed is a fashionable thing to be." Some of her opinions I agree with to an extent but she does not portray them at all in the right manner.

    Her views are absolutely contradictory. She claims to be a champion for hard-working ordinary people, having claimed in other interviews that she is a fan of Mrs Thatcher, who is often represented as the embodiment of the aspiration of the working and lower middle classes. However, by saying that the social class in which one is born should determine their chances in life, she is effectively destroying the notion of aspiration and social advancement. It would be legitimate to oppose social mobility policies (i.e. making it easier for working class students to get into Oxbridge) but denying the very concept of social mobility, as she has done, doesn’t bear scrutiny.

It takes zero brain cells to be a democrat, u just go along with every new fad that comes bc u feel like "doing you" at the moment like a small child. She does refer to prioritising employment based on a class system, but what she's referring to is making snap judgements based on a candidate's name, which is deplorable in a sense but is something I'm sure thousands of employers do. She doesnt only appreciate rich people and doesn't have contempt working classes, she isn't the caricature that SJW's and feminists make her out to be. She shapes her opinions on others based on their ethics, principles, discipline and dexterity and oftentimes these can be learnt from a person's appearance, a person's name and the way they address others and themselves.

    I think the confusion arises over the word "diversity" which has expanded exponentially in meaning over just the past decade or so. Traditional liberalism, the school of thought I belong to, says that people should not be discriminated against due to inborn factors or factors over which they have no absolute control. Factors such as race, color, gender, national origin, and, lately, sexual orientation are factors for which people should not be discriminated against and for which diversity should be celebrated, because these are innate factors to a person's identity. Religion is included in this because religious beliefs are often deeply held and involve cultural connections in many cases. Disabilities should be reasonably accommodated on the job and in all public access areas. However, factors over which a person has control -- tattoos, clothing, naming, hair style, and other things mutable -- are not proper considerations for protection. If we are to be a viable society, then it is proper for society to have reasonable expectations and to not yield to every individual whim, which is what is going on in society today. It is that latter point that divides the New Left from the Old. And it is why I refuse to support SJW's and third wave feminists, just as I continue to oppose the religious right.
