    Very important to advertise this type of stuff for younger fans and new fans of the game. History of the game is important even if it hasn't been perfect.

    As yes, 'Lethal' Leigh Matthews: four-time AFL premiership winner with Hawthorn and tacked on another four titles as a coach starting by breaking Collingwood's 32-year drought in 1990 and Brisbane Lions' three-peat between 2001 and 2003.

      @Matthew24.4
      You could quote quite a few other acts to your list of Matthews misdemeanours. Worth a mention is one at an end of season 1971 state game WA v Victoria.
      I just reviewed the footage and commentary, Matthews full frontal, top pace elbow tackle to Barry Cable's head was described by one commentator as a "dog act". Animosity between the two states was at fever pitch for several years after that, including a period about eight months later at the Australian carnival in mid season 1972. Officials of both sides didn't speak one cordial word to each other for the 10 day duration of the carnival.
      Matthews had skill but was a long way from being a hero or GOAT in the opinion of a lot of fair minded people.
