Oh mate I worshipped Modra as a kid (he was an absolute God)… but as an Eagle man I was devastated to see him in Dockers colours later 😂. Nothing against Freo, they are good guys but I was so conflicted during Western Derby because I loved seeing his hangers every game but I never wanted to him to do it against us lol.

Agreed. I might be biased because I lived in SA, but it's probably the best rivalry in the AFL. There's the occasionally blowout, but most of the games are close, competitive and full of spite

Norwood v Port in the AFL will continue the 145 year old rivalry, bigger than the Crows.
Yeh… I’m an Eagle dude and I think the showdown is much more vicious between the fans in comparison with our Derby (I’m not saying it’s worse or better, but during showdown fans are more brutal)
All my Dockers mates bust my balls about how bad we are… it’s true cause we suck 😂, but during times when hitting absolute rock bottom opposing teams over here have a little sympathy. A couple of dockers mates really were trying to cheer me up after that 171 point dicking last year… but I saw Port fans openly embracing the pain of crows failed review decision last year lol… port fans are brutal
So yes The Western Derby is massive, but Showdown just has a slightly bigger edge because of the intense fans. But in the entertainment of both games I’d say it’s equal value
Carlton Collingwood was an irrelevant rivalry for 20 years, but with the showdown even if the teams are at polar opposite ends of the ladder you never know who might win.

@@patrickmilner4149 I'm a Vic and only Pies and Blues fans still think they have the best rivalry. It's a hold over from the 1960s-70s when it was big but that was 50 years ago. Crows v Power is hands down the best rivalry.

@@Stannas95 concocted rivalries 😂Adelaide are a concocted football club, and port are just a wish version of Collingwood. No one outside South Australia cares about either of those clubs, or the showdown. Collingwood Carlton have history going back decades. You’ve only had a rivalry since 1997 and that’s cause there’s no one else in South Australia to be a rival with. Also you might wanna have a geez at ports supporters next time you see them play, they are all ferals.

Carl v Coll goes back forever and includes 6 grand finals and countless highlights, Crows v Power is hardly worth mentioning by comparison. Nothing more concocted than the Adelaide football club. Like comparing a fine red wine to can of Diet Coke.
Just throwing my hat in the ring here. Not from SA. But would watch these two teams go at it at the Oval any day of the week. There's still alot of love for the champions from both SA teams twenty years later. Saw Tony Modra play - deffo one of the legends.
