Shit I hate heights, scare the shit out of me, but you may be right about the falling part. When I play video games like GTA for instance, it makes me cringe or scared like when falling from a building or a plane. idky, IRL hopefully never have to experience haha.

That's a version of a Petzl I.D, different company but same principle. It locks automatically if rope feeds to fast.

Why not? No reason not to trust them. Plus all your doing is climbing down a latter which is easy to do. You’ve probably climbed many latters non of which you had a rope attached to you. Only difference this time is if you fell you’d die rather than shattering a hip. Plus people balé each other all the time when rock climbing. You never really hear about someone being dropped.

I believe that I could happen, but I went to ropes course when I was a kid and we climbed 80ft trees with people belaying, if it was so risky, not sure why it’s legal for kids to climb trees like that lol. And if people do, they should have a metal device that grabs the rope in an emergency. That just doesn’t seem right, but I dunno
